Kynes and the others spill out of the failing vault into a narrow service tunnel, crouched low under a rib of stone. The air is hot with ozone and old dust, and the passage slopes upward through rough, choking dark.

Bren
The ceiling is giving way. Move, now.
Pebbles skitter past their boots as a crack runs through the arch behind them. Violet light from the vault flickers once, then seals under a curtain of falling grit.

Walter
This tunnel was never meant for more than a single runner.

Kynes
The walls are sweating old salt and dust.
Ahead, the tunnel bends toward a faint seam of bluish light, where damp stone breathes cool air into the close heat. The floor tilts badly, but it holds for now.

Bren
There, Kynes. That glow. If there is a way out, it is that way.
A deeper groan rolls through the vault behind them, and a spray of grit rains from the roof. The group presses onward into the unknown side passage, leaving the broken chamber behind.
✓ Quest Accepted
Find a way out of the service tunnel
“"Walter, Mara. Try to keep up." I tsp into the void powers and cross it with flash step to see if it is a better mini teleport”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -2)

Kynes
Walter, Mara. Try to keep up.
Kynes lets the void rise through his staff and crosses it with flash step. For one thin heartbeat, the tunnel folds under him like a held breath.
He reappears farther up the slant, boots skidding on dust, the air around him snapping cold and clear where the step lands.

Walter
That was not a blink. It was a cut in the path.

Bren
There. Again. Keep that line steady.
The tunnel behind them grinds and sheds more stone, but Kynes has already claimed the next stretch of dark.
Ahead, the bluish seam opens wider into a higher chamber mouth, and the unstable passage yields to his movement.
“I grab Bren and do another void step”
SUCCESS (Superb Agility, rolled +1)

Kynes seizes Bren at the waist and the tunnel folds again, cold snapping tight around them.
Stone blurs past. Dust peels away behind his shoulders as the pair vanishes from the collapsing stretch.

Bren
Still with you. Just keep that line.
They reappear higher on the slope, Kynes already upright, Bren pulled in close beside him, both skidding into a wider pocket of dark.

Walter
The step lands cleaner this time. He is learning the tunnel’s rhythm.
Fresh grit showers from the shattered stone below, but ahead the bluish opening widens into a real exit, tall enough to take them without ducking.
A thin cold shimmer hangs in their wake, then fades as the passage behind them groans shut and the way forward opens at last.

“"where's Mara? "”
SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +3)

The opening ahead breathes colder air into the tunnel. Kynes cuts his gaze into the dark and asks after Mara.
Walter stops at the edge of the widening exit, head tilted as if listening through stone. The gloom behind them is sealed, but the chamber beyond still hums with distant pressure.

Walter
Mara is not behind us. The vault split her path, and she took the lower seam when the floor gave way.

Bren
She moved fast. Too fast for the collapse to catch her.
Walter lifts a hand and traces a line in the drifting grit, marking a fork that the darkness had hidden. A thin silver residue clings to the stone, fresh and deliberate.

Walter
There is a passage below this one, narrow, old, and still active. She is inside it.
Bren turns toward Kynes, tense but relieved, while the bluish opening ahead widens into a clean path. The silver trace points downward like a sign only the house would understand.
✓ Quest Accepted
Follow Mara into the lower passage
“" I didn't cure her blood curse for her to die in a tunnel alone" I use our blood bond to locate her”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled +1)

Kynes closes his fingers around the blood bond and lets the link answer him. The tunnel narrows away, the stone turning into a felt direction, a living pull under his skin.

Kynes
She is below.
A faint pulse answers from beneath the floor, sharp and unmistakably Mara. It is not distant. It is under the lower seam, moving through old stone.

Walter
There. The bond has a bearing now. She is in the lower passage, and still moving.
Walter’s traced silver residue brightens in Kynes’s sight, then stretches into a clean route below the split. Dust sifts from the cracked threshold as the hidden way accepts the touch of his magic.

Bren
Then we do not waste time. Show us the way, Kynes.
The opening ahead remains cold and clear, while the floor seam under Kynes points down like an invitation cut into the house itself. Mara is located, and the lower passage is now certain.
“I open a gate way in front of Mara to teleport her to us..”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -2)

Kynes opens his palm toward the seam and speaks the old shape of a gate. Violet lines thread the air in front of Mara, sketching a thin door where bare stone should be.
The magic catches. The space ahead folds inward with a soft crackle, and a standing aperture tears open in the tunnel, rimmed with cold light and silver dust.

Mara
Kynes...?
Mara jolts at the opening, then the pull takes her. The gate swallows her silhouette and returns it a breath later at Kynes’s side, shoes scraping grit from the stone.

Walter
There she is. The lower passage has answered.
The silver residue on the wall goes dim as the gate closes behind her. Fresh dust slides from the tunnel mouth ahead, and the blue glow below the floor steadies into a clear path.

Bren
Good. Now point us at the next door.
“Keep following the blue light”
SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled -1)

Kynes lowers his hand and lets the blue pull take over. The tunnel ahead breathes colder air, and the light below the floor sharpens into a clean line through the stone.
He steps forward, staff angled low, and the hidden path answers beneath his feet. The loose grit stops shifting, as if the passage is making room for him.

Walter
That way. The script is matching your pace now.
Mara moves in behind Kynes, gaze fixed on the blue seam ahead. Bren follows last, shoulders easing only after the floor holds steady.

Mara
It is deeper than the vault. The house keeps writing as we go.
The residue on the wall thins to a faint silver stain. Ahead, the blue glow widens into the mouth of another passage, quiet and waiting.

Bren
Good. Let it wait while we take it apart.
