The Brass and Bone Construct’s eye widens, and the crimson glow turns sickly, wet, almost digesting. The “path” below is not a passage at all. It is a throat.

The Brass and Bone Construct
You opened the lure. The architects made this chamber to feed on void-kin like you.
A hungry rumble rolls up from beneath the floor, deep enough to shake the seal lines. The chamber walls start weeping a viscous film that crawls toward the exit.

Kynes
It is a trap. The seal was built to bring me here.

Bren
Kynes, move. Now. That wall is closing.
The fluid spreads fast, bending the stone into a soft, breathing lip around the doorway. Behind the construct, the broken ward-script pulses like a feeding heart.

The Brass and Bone Construct
The mark in you was never only a key. It was a leash.
✓ Quest Accepted
Sever the chamber’s digestive connection
“I cast cero on the wall to shatter it" fuck the wall" I turn to the construct." Want out of your prison?"”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled +3)

Kynes whips his staff toward the wall and fires a hard lance of raw arcana. The stone takes the hit, then splits with a cracking roar, exposing a slick seam of dark mechanism behind it.
The chamber shudders. The weeping film on the walls recoils from the rupture, and the hungry rumble below stutters as the new opening cuts across its line of pull.

Kynes
Want out of your prison?

The Brass and Bone Construct
Out? Yes. Down here is only appetite and orders.
The construct twists toward the breach, and for one bright instant Kynes sees a lattice of ward-links threaded through its ribs like a leash. The broken wall is not just broken, it is a vent, bleeding the chamber’s digestive pull into the open.
Bren plants herself between Kynes and the narrowing exit, eyes fixed on the new gap, while the construct leans into the fresh breach as if measuring the air beyond it.

The Brass and Bone Construct
If you can break one wall, void-kin, you can break the throat. Which part do you tear next?
✓ Quest Accepted
Escape the trap chamber
− Scene Quest Removed
Sever the chamber’s digestive connection
“" venom want to give their throat some acid reflux?" I say with a grin”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Kynes lets the grin stay crooked as he lifts his chin toward the construct. The void-mark on his palm twitches, and the chamber seems to listen.

Kynes
Venom, want to give their throat some acid reflux?
The Brass and Bone Construct clicks once, a dry sound in the tightening chamber. Bren glances sidelong at Kynes, then back to the narrowing exit, keeping her blade ready.

The Brass and Bone Construct
Humor. Defiance. Good. The throat is not yours to spare, void-kin.

The Brass and Bone Construct
I am a ward built to digest what should not pass. If you can hear me, then the leash is loose enough to speak.

Bren
Then speak fast. I am running out of patience for this room.
Crimson light bleeds harder through the vent-like cavity beyond the rupture, and the hungry rumble below shifts, as if answering the construct's words. The construct keeps its posture toward Kynes, waiting.
“I send venom and the sea of shadows to feed on all red script in the area including on the construct.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled +4)

Kynes extends his palm toward the ward-light, and the shadow-mouth answers first. Venom spills out like a stain given teeth, then the Sea of Shadows follows, rolling low across the floor.
Red script in the chamber peels loose at once. It lifts from the walls, the vent, the floor seams, even the construct’s leashed tracery, and the dark devours it hungrily.

The Brass and Bone Construct
Yes. Take it. Starve the room before it seals.
The crimson glow gutters as the script is stripped bare. The digestive pull below stutters, loses its rhythm, and a hidden brace behind the ruptured wall groans open.
Bren shifts in front of Kynes, blade up, as the narrowing exit jerks wider for one breath. The construct’s ward-links crack and fall away in smoking curls.

The Brass and Bone Construct
At last. The leash is visible now. Not just here, below this chamber.
Beyond the vent, the hungry sound changes pitch, as if something deeper has noticed its feeding line go dark.
“I use soul cutter to free the spirt in the construct”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -1)

Kynes brings the Soul-Cutter up through the construct’s chest seam and twists. The ward-links scream without a mouth, then snap in clean, bright strands.
The brass ribs slacken. Red tracery peels away from the bone lattice and drops like dead vines.

The Brass and Bone Construct
There. It was chained to the chamber, not born to it.
A thin shape lifts free inside the shell, a pale spirit uncoiling from the bindings. The construct staggers as if a weight has been cut out of its spine.
Bren lowers her blade a fraction, eyes still hard on the dark opening ahead. The crimson ward-light flickers weaker, and the hungry sound below turns restless.

Kynes
The leash was the lock.

The Brass and Bone Construct
The path still bites, but I can move now. The chamber is losing its grip.
“I hed down”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +0)

Kynes drops through the ragged opening, staff first, then boots, slipping cleanly into the dark below. The chamber’s wet breath brushes past him as the shrinking ward-light leaves the upper room behind.
Stone rushes up. He lands hard in a narrower passage, knees bent, Soul-Cutter braced, and the wall behind him grinds with a hungry hush.

The Brass and Bone Construct
The trap is still chewing, but the bite is broken. Move now.
Bren stays above for a beat longer, blade angled toward the opening, then shifts to cover the descent. The red glow slants down around her boots as the passage seals the air into a stale, tense hush.

Kynes
The opening below is real. The rest is a mouth.
Farther down, the tunnel curves around a slick black seam, and the hungry sound rolls through it like something waking to notice his weight.

The Brass and Bone Construct
Keep going. If the chamber wants us, let it choke on the attempt.
“I drop deeper toward the black seam, " are you helping us or them,?" I ask the bone construct”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Kynes lets the shaft take him, dropping past the ragged stone lip into the lower dark. The black seam below drinks the ward-light while the passage tightens around him like a throat.

Kynes
Are you helping us, or them?
The Brass and Bone Construct twists in the dim above, pale spirit flaring through its shell as it answers the fall with strained urgency.

The Brass and Bone Construct
You are still alive, so for now, you and I want the same thing. I help the one who opens the way out.
Kynes hits the lower ledge in a crouch, one hand skidding over cold stone. The seam ahead breathes out a wet, hungry hush, and the path remains open beneath his boots.

The Brass and Bone Construct
That sound is the chamber chewing on failure. Keep moving, or it learns your shape.
Bren appears at the upper rim, braced and watchful, while the construct lingers between them and the narrowing gap. For a moment, all three hold the same dark corridor in their sights.
