Kynes steps into the side notch, and the dust-choked alcove answers him at once. Stone tablets line the walls, each cut with the same legal hand as the waxed note in his grip.

Kynes

Kynes

This is the same language.

He touches the central seal. The tablets thrum, and the note turns cold and bright in his hand, as if it has been waiting for this exact touch.

The words do not read like travel at all. They read like assent, intake, incorporation. A consent clause, shaped to let the house overwrite the claimant with its own directives.

The alcove hum deepens. The seal warms under Kynes’s palm, then presses back, patient and legal, like a judge placing a hand on a bound witness.

Kynes, that is not a passage record. It is a taking clause.

The glow in the note steadies to a binding white, and the room seems to remember every name it has ever been allowed to keep.
