The passage crackles around the ledger like a storm trapped in stone. Bren keeps it shut against her chest, and the High Archivist’s projection leans in, pale eyes fixed on Kynes and the glass key in his hand.

The High Archivist
Name the bearer, Kynes. The chain must have a hand to carry it.
The air tightens. The key hums. Violet script crawls over the ledger’s edge, waiting for the final mark that will decide who holds the tower, and who holds its blame.

Bren
Choose quickly. If that book stays with me, I want it because it means something, not because the tower is using me as a shelf.

Kynes
The key and the ledger are linked. One can anchor the seal, the other can expose it.
The archive hushes as if listening. In the narrow violet light, Kynes faces the last practical choice of the chamber, to keep the glass key for the next binding, or place the burden into Bren’s hands and move one step closer to the tower’s truth.

Determine the final state of the ledger
✓ Quest Accepted
Decide who carries the key
“"I'll carry the key and the ledger" I look to bren. " You've been a part of this towers story for to long my dear shadow asp. I free you of that burden." I look to the the high archivist. " As for you, no lose ends." I use telekinesis to choak him and at the same time use necromancy to draw his life force.”

Kynes closes his hand. The unseen pressure snaps tight around the High Archivist’s throat, pinning them against the bone desk’s edge.

The High Archivist
So this is your answer...
Violet light gutters across the passage as the archivist’s outline pales. Threads of life peel away in thin, silver wisps toward Kynes’s outstretched will.

Bren
Kynes, wait...
The ledger stays steady in his grasp, its pages no longer trembling. Somewhere in the tower, a lock clicks once, dry and final.

The High Archivist
If you take both, then the tower keeps nothing from you.
Bren steps nearer, torn between him and the wavering figure at the desk, her hand half-raised as if to stop the last breath from slipping away.
The pressure holds, the drain completes, and the archivist’s form thins to a weak shimmer, leaving the key and the ledger decided in the same breath. Bren looks from Kynes to the fading presence, waiting for what he does next.
“I pick up both key and ledger. Looking over at bren with a smile. Shall we leave this place”
