The Final BreachArchitects' Core Chamber
The Final Breach

Dust rains from the cracked ceiling as the severed core gives one last convulsion. The fissure ahead no longer pulses, it breathes, a thin black-violet mouth pulling at the chamber stones.

Bren

Bren

It is still feeding from somewhere. I can hold the roof a little longer, but not forever.

A scorched seal slab lies half-buried beside the breach, newly exposed by the collapse. Its face is split clean through, and the break points deeper into the architects' hidden work.

Kynes

Kynes

The split seal is the next lock. If it opens, the source might answer.

The Soul-Cutter hums in Kynes's hand, its edge dim but eager. The void-line tightens around the fissure like a noose, forcing the chamber to choose between sealing and surrender.

Bren

Bren

If you cut that last binding, do it now. The breach is the only way forward, and the architects are still on the other side.

Kynes faces the split seal and the breathing wound beyond it. One more strike could reveal the architects' remaining anchor, or widen the breach enough to tear the district open.

Reveal the architects' remaining anchor

Is the anchor in font of me

NO (Likely, rolled 73)

Kynes strikes the seal, but the blade meets only solid, inert stone. The fissure remains, yet the anchor is nowhere to be found within the fractured slab.

I draw in all of the red script into my hand with the void scar and convert it to energy while I draw in all ambient magical energy

SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled +1)

The Final Breach

Kynes lowers his palm into the crack and the red script answers at once, lifting off stone like ash in a draft.

The lines curl into the void scar, then vanish into his hand as a thin red glow gathers beneath his skin.

Ambient power follows, the chamber’s stray shimmer and pressure bleeding inward, drawn tight around his fingers.

Bren braces higher on the broken ceiling, watching the crack instead of the dust, as the pulse in the wall weakens.

Kynes

Kynes

The script is not tied to the slab anymore.

What remains in the fissure is a deeper seam of bound light, now plainly visible where the red cover once clung.

The chamber shudders, but the breach steadies for a breath, waiting on Kynes’s next move.

I stand and target where the anchor would be using all my gifts and insights. Then I release the most potent spell I have cero. A beam of total destructive force and I release from my void scar

SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -3)

The Final Breach

Kynes rises into the wavering dust, shoulders squared toward the fissure. His void scar brightens, cold red gathering to a point so sharp it seems to cut the air before it moves.

Kynes

Kynes

That seam is the target.

He releases the spell in one brutal beam, and the chamber flashes white-red as the deeper binding inside the crack fractures open.

Stone spits outward. The hidden anchor is laid bare at last, a sealed core of bound light splitting under the force.

Bren jerks under the ceiling’s groan, then plants herself harder against the falling weight as the pulse stutters across the room.

Bren

Bren

You found it. Hold, Kynes.

The beam gutters out, and Kynes’s scar burns raw from the release. Dust pours through the widening crack, but the anchor is shattered and the chamber’s tremor falls back for a breath.

Reveal the architects' remaining anchor

New Gift: Architect-Revealing Arcane Insight

I do it again

SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -1)

The Final Breach

Kynes draws breath through the dust and drives a second surge into the split anchor. The raw seam answers at once, light tightening instead of spilling.

Kynes

Kynes

Now.

The fractured core caves inward with a hard crack, its bound glow breaking into pale shards that wink out before they can spread.

A tremor rolls through the chamber, then loses its teeth. The ceiling still groans, but the worst of the pressure drains away.

Bren

Bren

That is it. The bite is gone.

Bren eases one hand from the stone only enough to look down at him, wary and relieved, while dust rains in a thin, steady curtain.

Behind the shattered anchor, the wider crack shows a dim interior passage and the seal within fractured crystal, now silent. Somewhere deeper in the annex, the breach still lingers.
