The Relics' Uneasy Pulse

The service landing holds its breath. Above, the tower’s ruin mutters through stone, but here the silence is soft and deep.

Bren leans against a cold pillar, one hand at her ribs, the other still half-raised toward the glass key. Her gaze searches Kynes’s face, then the relic, then back again.

Bren

Bren

Do you truly know what you are carrying?

Kynes stands with the staff in hand, the glass key and metal seal answering each other with a faint, uneasy pulse. The glow touches the stone in pale violet lines.

Kynes

Kynes

It reacts to the seal. That much is certain.

Bren

Bren

I have seen men clutch lesser things and call them treasure. This... feels older. Harsher.

For a moment, Bren’s usual edge loosens. She shifts her weight, breathing steadier now, and waits, giving Kynes space to answer or simply let the quiet linger.

SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -3)

The Relics' Uneasy Pulse

Kynes turns the glass key and seal toward the violet light. The pulse changes at once, syncing into a slow, deliberate rhythm.

Thin runes flare across both relics, then spill into the stone floor like a mapped current.

The signs show a lock, a hidden path, and a warded release. Together, the key and seal are meant to open a sealed descent and direct safe passage through it.

Kynes

Kynes

It is a paired mechanism, not two separate relics.

Bren

Bren

So that is their purpose... a way down, and a way through.

Bren straightens from the pillar, eyes fixed on the glowing marks as they fade. The shaft below answers with a cold draft, deeper and darker than before.

Bren

Bren

If you have the rest of the answer, Kynes, show me. The landing will not hold forever.
