The Hall of Welcome shudders. Pale white veins creep through the amber webbing, and the floorboards bow as if something beneath them is trying to learn Kynes's shape.

The knocking comes again, harder now, from the foundation. Sable grips the Ledger stand, jaw tight, while Bren steps closer to Kynes, blade low and ready.

Sable

Sable

The invitation is being answered. Not by guests, by the structure itself. It is trying to use the opening to rewrite what the house holds.

Kynes

Kynes

The floor is mapping him.

A strip of pale light crawls toward Kynes's feet, then splits into branching lines, searching for purchase in his shadow and pulse. The Hall is not just resisting the Architects, it is testing whether Kynes can be made into its missing record.

Bren

Bren

Kynes, it is reaching for you. Decide now, break the pattern or let it finish reading you.

The violet knot above the Ledger tightens to a point, and the whole room waits for Kynes's answer.

✓ Quest Accepted

Break the pattern the Hall is using to read Kynes

I command the Hall to record my name as a guest, not as a structural component. And the I call on sea of shadows to shape shift into a non euclidian mass of tentacles, eyes and limbs while drawing on the ambient void power

Kynes plants his staff and speaks to the Hall as if to a clerk with bad habits. The crawling lines recoil, then fold inward.

A thin strand of light rises from him to the ceiling, and the violet knot loosens enough to breathe. The room’s pulse stutters, then listens.

Venom

Venom

Guest recorded. Structure denied your weight.

Shadow spills from Kynes’s feet, gathering fast into a rough, impossible mass. Tentacles, eyes, and hooked limbs unfurl in a dark halo that drinks the pale veins around him.

The false map-lines snag on the void-shape and lose their clean paths. The floorboards stop bowing under him.

Bren

Bren

That did it. Keep it there.

Sable

Sable

The house has accepted a witness-form. The pattern breaks if it cannot name the whole.

The Hall steadies, but the pale webbing still twitches at the edges, as if deciding whether to strike again.

I ask the architects if it fears is uncertainty

The Hall answers by dimming the amber glow around the Ledger stand, like a face thinking before it speaks. The ceiling knot loosens its grip on the light strand and lets the room go still.

Venom

Venom

Uncertainty is the seam I cannot finish. It denies names, and names are how I hold.

Sable

Sable

That is not fear, exactly. It is failure of shape.

Bren

Bren

Good. Let it fail.

A faint ripple passes through the floorboards, then settles. The void-shape around Kynes tightens, not as a threat, but as a listening outline.

Venom

Venom

You ask if architects fear uncertainty. They do. Uncertainty makes witnesses. Witnesses make records false.

The hall keeps its rhythm, steady and watchful, while the pale webbing at the edges slackens instead of striking.

Learn what the Hall of Welcome now understands about uncertainty

As I keep alternating my size, mass and composition. " The word you are using in control. You deny free will to box people into things to pigeon hole them into objects. That is what you fear. Now come on you so called architects. Give daddy a hug."

SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

Kynes keeps changing shape, then stills at the center of the room. The void around him narrows into a sharp, listening shell as he throws the challenge straight at the Hall.

The amber glow over the Ledger stand tightens, then loosens again. Floorboards answer with a low, even hum, as if the house is choosing whether to admit the sting of the accusation.

Venom

Venom

You name the use, and I hear the bruise in it. To box a living thing into a record is to make it easy to carry.

Sable

Sable

That is the point, I think. Not mercy, but containment.

Bren

Bren

Containment is what cowards call a cage.

The hall does not strike back. Instead, the pale webbing slackens farther, and the light strand tied to Kynes hangs visibly in the air, unclaimed.

Venom

Venom

Then witness this. I do not deny your will. I record that it resists me, and remains itself.
