The Ward Recognizes the Heir

The chamber goes still after the void-presence falls away. Kynes stands at the guttering crimson light, his shadow-mark cold against his palm.

As he steps closer, the ward does not lash out. It flares, bright and sharp, answering the Soul-Cutter like a mirror finding its face.

The red glow runs along the blade, then along Kynes's mark. Not a warning. A check. A claim.

The ward is reading him.

The chamber's old lie breaks open, the crimson light was never meant to bar the door. It was waiting for the heir who bears the blade.

Beneath the failing glow, the vault's remaining power stirs awake, and it recognizes Kynes.

Master the ward's recognition

I hold the Soul-Cutter steady, letting the ward map the blade's history. " Venom, if the door gets weirder then this consider it snack time"

Keep scanning. If the door gets stranger, Venom gets to eat the first thing that blinks.

Kynes plants his feet and holds the Soul-Cutter flat, letting the ward read the blade's edge, the black scar in his palm, and the old residue clinging to both.

The crimson light crawls over the steel, then pauses at his mark. It does not recoil. It measures.

A thin seam of gold threads through the red glow, as if some deeper lock has found its matching key.

It is not fighting him anymore.

The chamber answers with a low, grinding sigh. Dust spills from the cracked ceiling as the ward drinks in the last of the void haze.

Kynes keeps the blade steady, but the effort bites back. Heat needles through his palm, and the Soul-Cutter comes away marked with a faint red sheen.

The light settles around him like an oath, not a warning. The vault opens its attention, and the recognition holds.
