The bottleneck tightens at the wayhouse yard. Pack mules stamp, merchants hunch into their cloaks, and the guards at the threshold keep their eyes moving.
Kynes eases into the line, staff low, his shadow-forged hand tucked close under his sleeve. Every step toward the door feels measured by the watchers above.

Rell
Hold there. The threshold marks what comes through it.
Rell stands on the ridge beam above the entry, half-lit by amber pulse and violet spill. A caravan guard follows his gaze straight to Kynes's covered arm.

Bren
He is here for shelter, same as the rest of you.
The wayhouse timbers answer with a low hum. The board by the door gives one bright violet beat, then settles on Kynes like a stare.

Kynes
It is reading the hand.
A merchant flinches aside, making a gap. The guard nearest the jamb shifts his spear toward Kynes, waiting for the wayhouse to decide.
“We continue on our journey, and leave rell and the way house. " Too full, don't like people much."”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +0)

Kynes turns his shoulder and keeps moving, letting the spear tip choose someone else. The gap in the crowd swallows him as the mule-stink and wool press past his cloak.

Kynes
Too full. Don’t like people much.
A few heads tilt toward the flat, dismissive mutter, then drift away. No one grabs him. The guard’s spear hesitates, then lowers a finger’s breadth.

The Caravan Guard
Keep your hands where I can see them, then. Move along.
Bren slides in beside Kynes, close enough to block a shoulder without looking like she does. Together they pass the threshold line while the wayhouse keeps pulsing behind them.

Bren
We’re only passing through.
Above the door, Rell does not follow. The amber light grinds through the warped timbers, but the violet stare on the tally board flickers off Kynes and finds the next person in line.
Kynes reaches the far side of the yard with his anonymity bruised, not broken, and the road opens ahead beyond the yard gate.

Leave the wayhouse yard unnoticed
“" the weird thing love is the way house didn't have anyone around it when we walked up. It wasn't until Rell showed that the illusion lifted. That's why we're leaving Love."”
SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +1)

The yard’s hush loosens after him, like a grip finally releasing. The tally board keeps its faint violet rhythm behind the door, but it no longer points at Kynes.

Kynes
The watch moved on.
Bren angles her body with him, and the guard turns back toward the crowd. The merchant’s uneasy glance slides past Kynes without catching.
Rell remains above the threshold, small against the warped timber, as the wayhouse’s amber pulse keeps beating for someone else.

The Caravan Guard
Next one through. Keep it orderly.
Kynes reaches the gate at the far end of the yard. No shout follows. No hand reaches for his sleeve.

Bren
We’re clear.
Beyond the yard, the road opens into pale snow and hard wind. Behind him, the wayhouse keeps its pulse and finds another face to judge.
