Delfarius remains reclined with his feet on the table, silver quill hovering above the parchment. Without touching it, the quill records each word he dictates.

Delfarius
Review the eastern notes, answer the Archives, check the ley-lines, let the bruise heal, and decide what to do with him.
The final line writes itself in darker ink. Delfarius looks directly at Caelen, his smirk widening beneath a raised eyebrow, making the reference unmistakable.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
With him? Do you mean Pistol, Shadow Daddy, or someone else entirely? Because your expression suggests I should be concerned.
Before the quiet can settle, the chamber entrance opens. Past Delfarius appears with his red hair tousled and his expression offended by the scent of coffee.

Past Delfarius
Everyone began coffee without me. I leave you alone for one morning, and apparently identities, loyalties, and questionable plans multiply.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
Pistol’s intrusion unsettled the room, but the real uncertainty is whether these three selves agree about what I am to them.
“I bring my feet off of the desk and walk over to Past and give him a small kiss on the cheek. "It is fine, there is more coffee to be made. The pastries however are gone." I laugh softly at him and smirk. "I have a fucking bruise, can you imagine that. Faelwen had to put cream on it." I show him the bruise and Past remarks about how mortal that almost is with a laugh and I agree.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled -1)

Delfarius brings his feet from the desk and crosses the chamber, leaving the silver quill hovering over its parchment. He gives Past Delfarius a small kiss on the cheek.

Delfarius
It is fine. There is more coffee to be made. The pastries, however, are gone.
Delfarius laughs softly and smirks, the room’s morning warmth settling back around them as Past’s offended expression turns toward the empty pastry plates.

Delfarius
I have a fucking bruise, can you imagine that? Faelwen had to put cream on it.
He shows Past the fading mark, keeping the tender shoulder clear of pressure. The bruise is visible proof of an unusually ordinary inconvenience.

Past Delfarius
A bruise? That is almost mortal. I leave for one morning and return to find you injured, treated, and deprived of pastries.
Past laughs, and Delfarius agrees with an amused smirk. The coffee service waits nearby, while the hovering quill resumes its patient recording.
“My grin widens and I get a mischievous grin and lean into Past with a smug expression. "They were fucking good too, Nadron is getting better at baking." Past gives me a little mock hurt expression then Past looks over and notices Lord Caelen and asks if it is now his turn to share laughing.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +3)

Delfarius’s grin widens into open mischief as he leans toward Past, smug amusement bright in his icy eyes. The coffee-warm chamber welcomes another round of laughter.

Delfarius
They were fucking good too. Nadron is getting better at baking.
Past Delfarius gives him a little mock-hurt expression, hand pressed theatrically to his chest, then turns and notices Lord Lord Caelen Valcaryn watching from across the table.

Past Delfarius
Oh, is it my turn to share the laughter now? Or perhaps my turn to share a romantic tryst with Lord Caelen?

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
Your candor is startling, but not unwelcome. I would consider it, provided the invitation is freely offered and nobody mistakes curiosity for obligation.
The answer earns delighted laughter from Past and a pleased spark from Lord Caelen Valcaryn. Across the room, Nadron hears the praise and immediately begins gathering ingredients for another batch, giving the household a second advantage: fresh pastries before noon.
“I flick my wrist almost lazily and pour my Past self some coffee. "Did you sense that I had a visitor or is there something that I need to be aware of?" I raise an eyebrow and smirk at Lord Caelen. Past knows what I am saying without words. I am trying to decide if the good Lord Caelen is going to remember this all or not. Past laughs and remarks if there anything I need to take care of and then says he needs to have his turn first before but does not elaborate on before what.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Perception, rolled +2)

Delfarius flicks his wrist, and coffee pours neatly into Past’s waiting cup. His raised eyebrow and smirk turn toward Caelen, quietly measuring the nobleman’s reaction.

Delfarius
Did you sense that I had a visitor, or is there something that I need to be aware of?

Past Delfarius
I sensed the visitor, yes. Nothing concealed itself from me, and nothing in the room suggests an intrusion beyond the obvious one.
Past laughs softly and glances toward Caelen. The nobleman remembers the garden, the gallery, and the private morning without any gap or altered detail.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
He is deciding whether I remember. I do, and I will not pretend otherwise.

Past Delfarius
Is there anything I need to take care of? I should have my turn first, though, before I explain before what.
His deliberately unfinished answer earns another amused glance toward Caelen. The nobleman meets it steadily, memory intact, while the coffee steams between the three men.
“I gather up my silver quill and place it in my private belongings I look over to Caelen and make a small Hmm muse as I think. "Tell me, do you think you can have fun with my past self without giving him a bruise as well?" Past brightens up and laughs and remarks how Caelen gave me the bruise and how that is so very amusing and rich. Caelen responds if he wants to have a tryst with my past self and answers my question.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +3)

Delfarius gathers the hovering silver quill from above the parchment and places it among his private belongings. The chamber’s warm quiet settles around the three men.

Delfarius
Hmm. Tell me, do you think you can have fun with my past self without giving him a bruise as well?

Past Delfarius
Caelen gave you that bruise, and now you want him to try his luck with me? How wonderfully amusing. How rich.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
If Past Delfarius wants it, yes. I would be happy to have a tryst with him, and I will not repeat my insistence on making out against a stone archway.

Past Delfarius
Oh, I want it. I may even forgive you for bruising him, provided you listen when I tell you where not to press.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
Then it is agreed. After breakfast, we can use the eastern observatory, where privacy is assured and both of us can choose the pace freely.
Lord Caelen Valcaryn’s clear agreement secures more than the tryst: he offers the warded observatory and openly accepts Past Delfarius’s boundaries, giving the arrangement privacy without obligation.
+ New Item Acquired
Silver quill
“I give an amused and sarcastic look to my past self then back at Lord Caelen. "Oh look at him just helping himself to the rooms of my tower. How very amusing that the little Lord here thinks he is going to dictate where and when here in my Tower." Past remarks on it and joins in my dark sarcasm and then offers for me to watch, saying it has been awhile since I have and that I need to rest with a sarcastic sting on the resting part. Caelen remarks on how he did not mean to assume or mean to dictate where or what. He looks at us both being a bit amused by the little mortal lord.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +3)

Delfarius
Oh, look at him, helping himself to rooms in my Tower. How amusing that the little lord thinks he can dictate where and when.
Delfarius gives Past a pointedly amused look, then turns the same dry expression on Caelen. The teasing lands as play rather than reprimand, and the chamber warms with shared amusement.

Past Delfarius
How presumptuous of the little mortal lord. Still, you should watch. It has been a while since you did, and clearly you need the rest.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
I did not mean to assume or dictate anything. I only offered the observatory because it was private, and because I thought we had agreed freely.
Caelen looks between the two identical men, amusement overcoming his embarrassment. The eastern observatory’s wards shimmer in recognition of Delfarius, opening its private threshold to his authority without challenge.

Past Delfarius
See? He is learning already. The little lord offers a room, and you decide whether the room deserves us.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
They are impossible, but neither is forcing the choice. If I stay, it will be because I want to.
“I look to Past Delfarius. "He is learning, though he thinks we do not hear his thoughts. Hmm I have a comfortable chair in my bedchambers and there would be better for activities." I smirk darkly at Caelen for completely changing his plans. Besides it is odd he wanted to go to my observatory. I am still not sure if he is going to remember all of this after we are done with him. Past laughs and remarks on Lord Caelen's thought about us being impossible, and that he has not seen anything yet and leads him to the bedchambers. Caelen responds to the change of his plans and responds to Past.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +1)

Delfarius
He is learning, though he thinks we do not hear his thoughts. I have a comfortable chair in my bedchambers, and there would be better for activities.
Delfarius gives Lord Caelen Valcaryn a dark, knowing smirk, completely overturning the proposed plan. The observatory wards dim as he turns toward the private corridor, leaving the choice plainly renewed.

Past Delfarius
He thinks we are impossible. He has not seen anything yet. Come along, little lord, and try not to look too pleased about losing your carefully chosen destination.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
I am learning that plans in this household are invitations at best. I will follow, provided the invitation remains freely offered.
Past Delfarius laughs and offers Lord Caelen Valcaryn his arm without gripping him. Together they cross the warm corridor toward Delfarius’s bedchambers, while the Tower opens its doors in obedient silence.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
They heard me, changed the plan, and somehow made surrendering the route feel like my choice. I remain curious enough to follow.
Past Delfarius leads Lord Caelen Valcaryn through the threshold. A broad, cushioned chair waits beside the fire, and the private chamber closes behind them, securing the chosen encounter away from every watching eye.
“I settle into the cuck chair and frown a bit at not being able to join myself with a small pout on my face. Past laughs at it and reminds me that we will have plenty of more times when I am not bruised like a mortal. Past gives me a deep passionate kiss and looks me in the eyes reassuring as I simmer a bit. Past pushes Lord Caelen onto the bed of soft black silks and velvet blankets and smirks down at him. Past tells Lord Caelen that he is our house now, and that it is our rules now with a dark laugh as Past starts to disrobe.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled -1)

Delfarius settles into the cushioned chair, his pout and faint frown betraying his irritation at being sidelined. He keeps the bruised shoulder clear of pressure.

Past Delfarius
Do not sulk, beloved. We will have plenty of time when you are not bruised like a mortal.
Past laughs, cups Delfarius’s face, and gives him a deep, passionate kiss. The reassurance lingers as he meets Delfarius’s eyes, then turns toward Caelen.
Past guides Lord Caelen onto the bed of soft black silks and velvet blankets, careful and deliberate. Caelen accepts the movement, watching him with bright, willing curiosity.

Past Delfarius
You are our house now, little lord. These are our rules.
Past gives a dark laugh and begins to disrobe, his confidence theatrical rather than hurried. Caelen remains beneath him, free to choose, his expression warming at the invitation.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
Then I will learn the rules by choice, Past Delfarius. Show me what you expect, and I will tell you what I want.
“Past starts to give Caelen mind blowing sex as I watch, pouting at first then thoroughly enjoying the show. After Caelen is laying on the bed, sleepy and sweety Past rises and comes over to me and gives me another passionate kiss and kisses the small of my neck that causes me to feel tingles of passion. Past looks at me and remarks wanting to see the bruise then gives it a small kiss along with the other bare skin I have exposed. Caelen watches us with sleepy eyes and remarks on how odd but arousing it is to watch us.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled -2)

Past Delfarius Delfarius keeps Lord Caelen Valcaryn’s attention with practiced tenderness and startling agility. Delfarius watches from the chair, pouting at first, then visibly enjoying the intimate spectacle despite the room’s growing warmth.
The encounter fades into breathless movement and muffled laughter behind the bed’s dark curtains. Past Delfarius’s quick repositioning jars Delfarius’s bruised shoulder against the chair, drawing a sharp, costly ache.
Afterward, Lord Caelen Valcaryn lies among the black silks, sleepy and sweetly flushed. Past Delfarius rises, crosses to Delfarius, and bends to give him another deep, passionate kiss.
Past Delfarius’s mouth trails to the small of Delfarius’s neck, raising tingles through him. He studies Delfarius’s bruised shoulder, then kisses the mark gently before touching the other exposed skin.

Past Delfarius
There it is, beloved. Let me see what our little lord managed to leave behind.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
Watching you two is remarkably odd, and somehow even more arousing than I expected.
Past Delfarius laughs softly against Delfarius’s skin and keeps one careful hand away from the bruise. Lord Caelen Valcaryn watches through sleepy eyes as the two selves share warmth, affection, and unhurried attention.
“Past sits down on my lap being sure to be careful of my bruised arm and looks deeply in my eyes as he brushes my hair from my face. He asks if I have decided what to do with our little lord and I smirk up at him. "Hmm no. I can't let him just go like he is, can I?" I say to my Past self with a smirk. Past gives me suggestions of either keeping him or erasing his memory. I ponder and make a small mused noise as Past kisses my chest. Lord Caelen catches what I said and remarks on what we are talking about with sleepy words and a faintly growing concern that we are deciding his fate now while we are kissing.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +2)
Past Delfarius settles carefully onto Delfarius’s lap, keeping clear of the bruised shoulder. He brushes dark red hair from Delfarius’s face and holds his gaze.

Past Delfarius
Have you decided what to do with our little lord?

Delfarius
Hmm, no. I cannot let him simply go as he is, can I?

Past Delfarius
Then keep him, if his presence pleases you. Or erase the memory of this place and let him return untouched. The choice is yours.
Delfarius considers the alternatives with a small, thoughtful sound. Past kisses his chest, careful and unhurried, while the firelight warms the black silks.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
You are discussing my fate while kissing each other? I am flattered by the attention, but increasingly concerned by the available options.

Past Delfarius
You heard us, little lord. Yet nothing has been chosen without you. Speak plainly, and we will listen.
“"Yess." I say as Past kisses my chest and causes warm sensations of pleasure to rise in me. "Please plead for your case one way or the other, Caelen. Should I just keep you here as a." I laugh darkly and look up at my past self's icy blue eyes. "Guest? Or should I just release you like a fish I caught but was too small to keep." Past remarks on what I said and Caelen tries to plead his case through his sleepy thoughts.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled -2)

Delfarius
Yess. Please plead your case one way or the other, Caelen. Should I keep you here as a guest, or release you like a fish too small to keep?
Past’s kiss warms Delfarius’s chest. Delfarius laughs darkly and looks up into Past’s icy eyes, leaving Caelen’s fate suspended between them.

Past Delfarius
A guest, little lord? He makes the choice sound almost charitable. Still, I admit I want to hear how beautifully Caelen argues for his place.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
If I beg for freedom, I lose the evening. If I beg to stay, I hand them leverage. Better to speak plainly and make the choice mine.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
Keep me as a guest, Delfarius. I want the danger, the questions, and another morning here, but not as property. I stay only while I choose to.
His plea succeeds, but its cost is plain: Caelen’s request exposes genuine curiosity and grants Delfarius a powerful social lever over him, one Caelen knows he may later regret revealing.

Past Delfarius
There is your answer, beloved. He asks to remain, offers boundaries, and still gives you the satisfaction of knowing he chose your house over an easy escape.
“I purr into my past self's eyes as I give him a kiss. "Isn't it amusing that he thinks guest is not as our property. I find it also telling that he thinks his freedom is going to not give us leverage. We have the upper hand quite literally in this whole sordid mess." Past kisses my neck and remarks on how Caelen still thinks he is dealing with politics with us and how we are so above petty mortal concerns. Caelen remarks on what we both said, his eyes getting more and more heavy as he tries to resist sleep.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Intimidation, rolled -2)

Delfarius
Isn't it amusing that he thinks being a guest means he is not our property? His freedom only gives us leverage. We have the upper hand, quite literally.
Delfarius purrs into Past Delfarius’s eyes and kisses him. Past answers against his mouth, while Caelen watches from the silks, his request for freedom recast as a vulnerability.

Past Delfarius
He still thinks this is politics, beloved. He offers boundaries as though mortal distinctions can place us beneath their concerns. We are far above such petty arrangements.
Past kisses Delfarius’s neck, lingering with possessive warmth. The words land harder than the affection: Caelen’s chosen stay has become leverage, and everyone in the room knows it.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
I heard both of you. You are calling my choice freedom while treating it as a handle by which to move me.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
They have the upper hand, and I admitted exactly why. I can remain by choice, but I cannot pretend that choice leaves me unexposed.
Caelen’s eyes grow heavy despite his effort to resist sleep. He stays, but the cost of Delfarius’s victory is concrete: trust has become wary, conditional, and carefully guarded.
“Me and Past Delfarius make small pleased sounds as we kiss each other and then look over towards Caelen as he is falling asleep. "Soon he is going to be fast asleep then we can decide for truth whether I keep the Lord or let him be." Past gets up and sits on the side of the bed next to Caelen and I join him, both of us watching as sleep takes the lord. Caelen says something to plead his case for his freedom with increasing sleepy incoherent words. He only sees my icy blue eyes watching him and Past's icy blue eyes watching, our smirks growing more dark and amused as his lids get too heavy to stay awake any longer.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Perception, rolled +0)

Delfarius and Past Delfarius make small, pleased sounds into each other’s mouths before turning together toward Caelen, whose lashes tremble with gathering sleep.

Delfarius
Soon he is going to be fast asleep, then we can decide for truth whether I keep the lord or let him be.
Past rises and sits beside Caelen on the bed. Delfarius joins him, and the two identical men watch as Caelen sinks deeper into the black silks.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
I am still... choosing. If I sleep, do not turn choosing into keeping. Let me wake... and decide again... unless I say... stay.
His plea frays into sleepy fragments. Caelen’s gaze finds two pairs of icy blue eyes, two darkening smirks, and the attentive stillness of men weighing his words.

Lord Caelen Valcaryn
They heard me. They must hear me again when I wake. I want to stay, but I want the choice to remain mine.
Caelen’s lids finally grow too heavy to lift. His breathing settles into a slow rhythm, his final plea heard clearly as sleep claims him and leaves the decision before them.
“I softly brush his hair out of Lord Caelen's eyes and look down at him not disturbing his sleep. I sigh. "I want to keep him, but I can't. He is so precious though isn't he?" Past remarks on how he was fun but agrees with me that the risk of his disappearing will just complicate the whole deal with Dorian. "Hmm. So we return him, erase the knowledge of him knowing that we are who we are and let him keep the sex memory as a dream?" Past agrees or offers an alternative to it.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +3)
Delfarius gently brushes Caelen’s hair from his eyes without disturbing his sleep. The elf’s breathing remains slow, his face softened by exhaustion and trust.

Delfarius
I want to keep him, but I cannot. He is precious, though, is he not?

Past Delfarius
He was fun, beloved. But yes, keeping him risks his disappearance, and that complicates everything with Dorian.

Delfarius
Then we return him, erase his knowledge of who we are, and leave the sex as a dream?
Past studies Caelen’s sleeping face, then reaches over to smooth the blanket at his shoulder. His expression turns thoughtful rather than possessive.

Past Delfarius
An alternative: return him with the truth intact, but bind nothing. Let him remember a private encounter with Farius, and choose whether to seek another.

Past Delfarius
Dorian’s arrangement need not suffer. Caelen can keep our secret because he values his own reputation, not because we hollowed out his memory. That gives us discretion without stealing his choice.
✓ Quest Accepted
Return Caelen to Orosia with his memories intact
“"That was kind of what I was thinking, remembering sex with 'Farius' but not the knowledge of the Tower, the Archives or meeting Vaeroth." Past looks over to me and laughs and remarks on how he missed a lot this morning. Past either agrees with my idea or counters.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +0)

Delfarius
That was kind of what I was thinking. He can remember the sex with Farius, but not the Tower, the Archives, or meeting Vaeroth.
Past Delfarius looks from Caelen’s sleeping face to Delfarius and laughs softly, his tousled hair and late arrival making the missed morning rituals obvious.

Past Delfarius
I missed breakfast, the coffee, the grooming, the dragon, and apparently an entire morning of domestic chaos. You did not waste the hours I missed.

Past Delfarius
Yes, beloved. Leave him the memory of choosing Farius and sharing pleasure with him. Remove the Tower, the Archives, Vaeroth, and everything that would expose us.
Past’s agreement is clear and unforced. He rests two fingers near Caelen’s temple without touching, leaving the sleeping elf’s chosen memory separate from the impossible world around it.

Past Delfarius
No leash, no command, and no false devotion. He wakes remembering what he wanted, while the rest returns as harmless, indistinct dream.
The selective veil settles cleanly at Past’s willing assent. Caelen’s memory of Farius remains vivid and voluntary, while the Tower, Archives, Vaeroth, and hidden truths fade beyond recall.
“I rise from the chair and brush Caelen's hair out of face again, lean down and give his a gentle kiss of the forehead making sure not to wake him. "Time to go back to your own bed Lord Caelen Valcaryn." I wave my hand over him and send him gently back into his own bed without the memory of my tower, this morning's impossible things like the tower, the archives, meeting Vaeroth or the memory of Pistol bringing him here and the words that Future called me, Shadow daddy, or that the three parts of me are not my brothers. I smirk as he fades and goes into his own bed in his family's estate. Past looks over to me and asks how he got here in the first place. I chuckle. "Once guess." Past laughs and asks if it was Pistol?”
SUCCESS (Legendary Void Manipulation, rolled -2)

Delfarius rises from the chair and gently brushes Caelen’s hair from his sleeping face. He bends to kiss the elf’s forehead without disturbing his breath.

Delfarius
Time to go back to your own bed, Lord Caelen Valcaryn.
His hand passes over Caelen in a soft arc of void magic. The chosen memory of Farius remains bright, while the Tower, Archives, Vaeroth, Pistol, and the impossible brotherhood dissolve into harmless dream.
The spell carries Caelen safely through a fading shadow and into his own bed at the Valcaryn estate. The effort leaves Delfarius with a sharp pressure behind his eyes and a momentary blur in his sight.
Past watches the empty silks settle, then turns toward Delfarius with an inquisitive smile. Caelen is gone, returned safely, and the chamber holds only quiet firelight.

Past Delfarius
How did he get here in the first place?

Delfarius
Once guess.

Past Delfarius
Pistol?
“"Pistol." I say with a small laugh and head shake. "The girl is far too skilled at finding the impossible paths." I lay down on the bed and sigh. Past sits next to me and laughs remarking on what we should do and wondering why Cox did not stop her. I respond that Cox tried.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +0)

Delfarius
Pistol. The girl is far too skilled at finding the impossible paths.
Delfarius gives a small laugh and shakes his head before lying back on the bed with a weary sigh. The chamber settles around him, warm and quiet.

Past Delfarius
Pistol, of course. What should we do with her, and why did Cox not stop her?
Past Delfarius sits beside him, laughing at the familiar absurdity. His amusement softens the question, turning the impossible intrusion into another household story.

Delfarius
Cox tried.
Past’s laughter deepens as he imagines the tiny shadow squirrel attempting to restrain Pistol’s curiosity. Somewhere beyond the chamber, the Tower’s paths remain quietly rearranged.

Past Delfarius
Then we cannot blame him. If Pistol found the path despite Cox, she has probably already decided where it leads.
− Scene Quest Removed
Return Caelen to Orosia with his memories intact
“I look up at Past and smirk. "She said my shadows here were prettier than the ones in Orosia." Past remarks on how she has taste at least then looks down at me and insists that I get some rest and he will keep an eye out for any wandering shadow weavers.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +0)

Delfarius
She said my shadows here were prettier than the ones in Orosia.
Delfarius looks up at Past and smirks. The quiet admission carries Pistol’s mischievous compliment into the warm chamber, where the Tower listens without stirring.

Past Delfarius
At least the girl has taste. I suppose that is something, considering how determined she is to wander into places she should not find.
Past looks down at him, amusement softening into familiar concern. He gestures toward the bed, making the order gentle but unmistakable.

Past Delfarius
Now rest. I will keep watch for any wandering shadow weavers, especially the small purple menace who thinks every hidden path belongs to her.
Delfarius settles back into the bed and lets his body go still. Past remains beside him, alert and watchful, while the chamber’s warmth makes sleep easy to accept.
“"Why did we make her so inquisitive?" I laugh as I close my eyes. Past responds because it was amusing at the time. "Oh yeah that's right. What the hell were we thinking..." I say as I drift myself off to sleep and get some rest so I can heal my bruise.”
SUCCESS (Fair Health, rolled +2)

Delfarius
Why did we make her so inquisitive?
Delfarius laughs as he closes his eyes, the question dissolving into the warm quiet of the bedchamber. Past Delfarius remains beside him, watchful and amused.

Past Delfarius
Because it was amusing at the time. We thought the consequences would be amusing too.

Delfarius
Oh yeah, that's right. What the hell were we thinking...
His words fade as sleep takes him. Rest settles through his body, easing the bruised shoulder and drawing the lingering tenderness toward recovery.

Past Delfarius
At least he is sleeping. I can keep watch while the inquisitive little menace remains elsewhere.
The chamber stays warm and undisturbed. Past Delfarius keeps his quiet vigil while Delfarius sleeps deeply, and by morning the bruise has softened considerably.
“I stir from my sleep with the smell of coffee, snickerdoodles and the sound of Past and Future talking over coffee. I stretch a bit then walk over in only my silk boxers and Nadron gives me a cup of coffee and Faelwen starts to brush my hair as I sip. Past and Future tell me what I have missed which I am hoping is not too much.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled -1)

The scent of coffee and warm snickerdoodles draws Delfarius from sleep. Past and Future’s voices overlap nearby, trading amused reports as morning light gathers in the bedchamber.
Delfarius stretches and rises in only his silk boxers. The movement leaves his healing shoulder undisturbed as he crosses toward the waiting cups and pastry plate.

Nadron
Morning, my lord. Coffee first, before the household gives you anything complicated.
Nadron places a steaming cup in Delfarius’s hand. Faelwen steps behind him and begins brushing his dark red waves with patient, practiced strokes.

Past Delfarius
You missed very little. Caelen returned safely to Valcaryn, remembering Farius and the evening, while the Tower and everything impossible became harmless dream.

Future Delfarius
Pistol also found a hidden path, Cox tried to stop her, and she complimented your shadows. No disaster followed, which makes the morning unusually successful.

Past Delfarius
You slept through coffee, pastries, and our debate over that inquisitive little menace. The eastern notes are stable, the bruise is healing, and nothing urgent is calling.
“"Well at least that is good." I say as I sit down at the table with them all and sip my coffee and help myself to a cookie. It is not as fresh as it was in Orosia, but it is still good. I yawn a bit as Faelwen brushes my hair and Past and Future sit down with me and let me know why they are both here.”

Delfarius
Well at least that is good.
Delfarius sits at the table with them and sips his coffee. He takes a snickerdoodle, finding it less fresh than Orosia’s but still pleasantly sweet.
A small yawn escapes him as Faelwen continues brushing his dark red hair. Past and Future settle into nearby chairs, cups steaming before them.

Past Delfarius
I came to share the morning, make certain you were recovering properly, and hear whether Pistol’s latest adventure caused any trouble.

Future Delfarius
And I came because Past promised coffee, though I stayed when the report proved unusually peaceful. No disasters, no demands, and no urgent portals.
Nadron sets another plate within reach, while Faelwen’s brush moves steadily through each wave. The household gathers around the table in an easy, unhurried rhythm.

Past Delfarius
So that is why we are both here, beloved. Companionship, coffee, and the rare privilege of watching you enjoy a quiet morning.
“"Huh." I say almost shocked. Faelwen continues to brush my hair for the thirty minutes that I require and the other selves of myself enjoy the peaceful quiet of an mostly normal morning. After my hair is brushed Faelwen puts more healing cream on the bruise. I enjoy the healing sting for a moment before it fades and the pain is numb.”
SUCCESS (Fair Health, rolled -1)

Delfarius
Huh.
Delfarius remains seated as Faelwen continues brushing his dark red hair. Thirty quiet minutes pass with only the brush, steaming coffee, and the soft presence of his other selves.
By the end, holding still has left his neck and back stiff, a small physical price for the otherwise peaceful ritual.
Faelwen retrieves the healing cream from the bedchamber cabinet, then applies a fresh layer across the fading bruise with careful, practiced fingers.
The cream stings sharply for a moment. Delfarius allows the sensation to linger before it recedes, leaving the shoulder numb and the pain muted.

Faelwen
There. Better, I think. Keep resting it, and do not turn a healing bruise into an excuse for another injury.
Past Delfarius and Future Delfarius remain nearby, enjoying the rare quiet without interruption. Nadron refreshes the coffee, and the mostly ordinary morning settles gently back into place.
