The challenge remains suspended between them. The Archives record Marrec’s refusal without alteration, while the Tower’s sealed doors wait for Delfarius to define whether command can coexist with choice.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

I am not withdrawing my submission. I am asking whether it has boundaries you will recognize when they inconvenience you.

Marrec keeps his shoulders square, though his hands remain tightly clasped. He does not kneel, flee, or reach for the unopened doors, leaving the next authority entirely in Delfarius’s hands.

Delfarius

Delfarius

The Archives are preserving his words exactly.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

If you want obedience, name the command. If you want affection, ask for it. If you want both, then let me answer each honestly instead of treating my presence as permanent consent.

A faint resonance passes through the black floor, not approval and not protest. The Tower recognizes the distinction and leaves every consequence unchosen, waiting for Delfarius’s reply.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

So decide what I am to you now, Delfarius. A willing pet with the right to refuse, or a prisoner whose honesty you only tolerate when it serves you.

✓ Quest Accepted

Secure Marrec’s willing service under recognized boundaries

“I sigh as I walk up closer to him and circle around him silently for a moment taking this all in. "How amusing. Marrec what would you do if I did let you be free from me and my conditions. You realize you have not be aging since you have gotten here? I keep you as a pet. I stated before, I needed your obedience, not your worship. So what is this all?" I stop looking over his shoulder. "Has the mortal caught feelings for his master?"”

Delfarius sighs and walks closer, then circles Marrec in silence. Hadrun’s Deception Insight catches every guarded pause, while Subjugator’s Presence makes the scrutiny impossible to evade.

Delfarius

Delfarius

How amusing. Marrec, what would you do if I did let you be free from me and my conditions?

Delfarius passes behind him, studying the rigid set of his shoulders. The Archives preserve Marrec’s silence, while the Tower offers no answer on his behalf.

Delfarius

Delfarius

You realize you have not been aging since you got here? I keep you as a pet. I stated before, I needed your obedience, not your worship. So what is this all?

He stops over Marrec’s shoulder, close enough for the question to settle between them. Hadrun’s insight finds no hidden plea in the silence, only fear carefully held beneath resolve.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Has the mortal caught feelings for his master?

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

If you freed me, I would leave the Tower first. I would take a name that belonged to me, find work that was mine, and learn whether I could live without waiting for your approval. I would not return merely because freedom frightened me. But I would not pretend I feel nothing for you. I want your affection, and I want to remain your pet if I can refuse and still be heard. Those feelings are mine, not proof that you own every part of me.

“I walk in front of him and hold his gaze up to mine and smirk widely with a bit of malice. "Your opinion was not part of our original arrangement. You obeyed. That was all." I hold his gaze. I let his face go after a moment longer of holding his eyes to my icy blue stare. I walk a few steps from him and turn my back to him as I speak. "Fine I can release you, but you will not remember any of this. That is the cost. Freedom and no memory of me, my tower and our time together. Or you stay and be my kept pet with no questions or demands of me."”

SUCCESS (Legendary Intimidation, rolled +2)

Delfarius

Delfarius

Your opinion was not part of our original arrangement. You obeyed. That was all.

Delfarius holds Marrec’s gaze, smirking with quiet malice. Subjugator’s Presence makes command feel absolute, while Dominator’s Will leaves no space for defiance or reinterpretation.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Fine. I can release you, but you will not remember any of this. That is the cost. Freedom, and no memory of me, my Tower, or our time together. Or you stay as my kept pet under command, with no questions or demands of me.

He releases Marrec’s face, turns away, and walks several steps across the reading hall. The Archives preserve the offer exactly, while the Tower leaves both paths open.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

You have made the choice plain. Freedom means losing every memory of you and this place. Staying means remaining your pet under command, without pretending my questions or boundaries have authority here.

Marrec stands beneath the silent shelves, shaken but awake, and weighs the two costs without fleeing or kneeling. The choice is now his, fully stated and impossible to mistake.

“I turn to him raising my eyebrow waiting for Marrec's decision. If he takes too long I walk up to him and smirk. "Or I could offer you a third choice and just kill you where you stand." I purr with evil delight if he takes too long to respond only.”

SUCCESS (Legendary Intimidation, rolled +0)

Delfarius turns toward Marrec and raises one eyebrow. The Archives hold their silence while Marrec weighs the two offered paths, his answer delayed beneath the black shelves.

The pause stretches. Delfarius walks toward him with an unhurried step and a widening smirk, Subjugator’s Presence pressing the air into unquestionable authority.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Or I could offer you a third choice and just kill you where you stand.

Dominator’s Will locks the threat into the moment as a genuine alternative, not theatrical persuasion. The Archives record Delfarius’s evil delight precisely, while Marrec understands that delay has become its own answer.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

I choose to stay. I remain your pet under command, and I will not pretend that makes my feelings or my fear disappear.

Marrec’s decision settles cleanly into the record. He does not kneel, but he stops weighing escape, accepting the command he has chosen rather than allowing the third choice to decide for him.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

I will stay, Delfarius. If you ask for affection, I will answer honestly. If you command obedience, I will obey. But I will remember that I chose this while I still could.

“I laugh darkly at this little mortal and pet him softly on the head. "Good pet. We can always look into the three options some other time." I let my laugh grow dark and ancient for a moment. "If you want in the future." I say as I motion for him to follow me.”

Delfarius laughs darkly at the little mortal’s chosen submission and pets Marrec softly on the head. Subjugator’s Presence makes the command unmistakably secure, while Playful Void Resonance turns the dominance into intimate mischief rather than menace.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Good pet. We can always look into the three options some other time, if you want in the future.

His laugh deepens into something dark and ancient beneath the silent shelves. Marrec remains still beneath the affectionate touch, hearing the promise as permission to choose again rather than a demand to reconsider now.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

I understand. I choose to stay, and I will tell you if that choice changes.

Marrec’s shoulders ease. He turns when Delfarius motions for him to follow, accepting the invitation as his collared pet and keeping his chosen boundary intact.

Marrec falls into step behind Delfarius through the Endless Archives. The black shelves part ahead without resistance, and the quiet record of his choice travels with them into the Tower’s waiting halls.

New Gift: Pact-Binder's Sovereignty

Delfarius leads Marrec through the Tower’s black corridors into the torture room. Iron restraints unfold from the wall, and Marrec allows himself to be chained there, wrists secured above his shoulders.

Subjugator’s Presence settles over the chamber as sovereign certainty, while Dominator’s Will makes the restraints and hierarchy feel absolute. Playful Void Resonance twists the menace into intimate, dark amusement.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Do you want the first punishment or the second punishment?

Delfarius smirks up at him. The question offers no safe interpretation, yet its teasing cadence leaves room for Marrec to answer rather than merely endure.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

You have not told me what either punishment means. I will not choose blindly just because you enjoy watching me hesitate.

The chains hold without cutting him, and the room’s warded instruments remain still. Marrec meets Delfarius’s gaze, frightened but deliberate, preserving the boundary he chose beneath the shelves.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

Name the choices, and I will decide what I am willing to accept.

“"No." I say plainly as I walk away towards my table with all my delightful tools of torture inside of it. I let my fingers glance over the desk. "One. Or. Two."”

Delfarius

No.

Delfarius walks toward the table holding his delightful tools of torture, letting his fingers glide across the wood. Subjugator’s Presence makes the chamber recognize his authority; Dominator’s Will keeps the unanswered choice pressing against Marrec’s restraint, while Playful Void Resonance turns the menace into an intimate game.

Delfarius

Delfarius

One. Or. Two.

The pressure lands with exceptional force. Marrec understands that Delfarius will not explain the punishments, and that refusing to choose will surrender the choice entirely. The tangible mercy is equally clear: every tool remains untouched until he answers.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

One. I choose one. I do not know what it means, but I choose it knowingly, as your pet under your command.

The choice settles into the room as accepted submission, not confusion or refusal. The restraints hold him securely, and the first punishment is now selected, leaving Delfarius free to decide when and how to name its meaning.

“I chuckle softly to myself and let my fingers settle over one of my delightfully cruel tools of punishment and torture. "One was you take a few blows from my tools then I let it go to do your chores. I will give you three for speaking to me like your opinions mattered in our arrangement." My fingers close around... which ever tool my fingers ended on then I turn back to him holding it out for him to see.”

Delfarius chuckles softly and lets his fingers drift across the table. They settle around a cruel, black-iron baton ridged with hooked runes, and he lifts it from the waiting tools.

Delfarius

Delfarius

One was that you take a few blows from my tools, then I let you go do your chores. I will give you three for speaking to me like your opinions mattered in our arrangement.

He turns back toward Marrec and holds the baton out for inspection. Subjugator’s Presence makes the chamber acknowledge his authority, while Dominator’s Will fixes the punishment as an unquestionable command.

Playful Void Resonance curls through the hooked runes, lending the threat an intimate, mischievous edge without softening its meaning. The baton’s dark metal gleams beneath the chamber’s violet light.

Delfarius steps close enough for Marrec to see every etched barb and the firm grip around its handle. The social pressure lands cleanly, leaving no uncertainty about the promised three blows.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

I understand. Three blows, then I return to my chores. I chose to stay, so I will accept the punishment I chose with it.

Black-iron baton

“I give him his first smack with the black iron baton. I am being purposely softer than I would be with the others who have been on my wall chained for punishment. It will still sting. I smirk at his flinch and pain. "One." I say with a smirk.”

Delfarius swings the black-iron baton with measured restraint. Its hooked runes bite into the strike’s force, keeping the blow controlled while concentrating its sting against Marrec’s side.

The baton lands with a sharp crack. Marrec flinches against the restraints, breath catching as pain flashes across his face, but the tempered blow leaves him standing and conscious.

Delfarius

Delfarius

One.

Delfarius’s smirk deepens at the reaction. The baton’s hooked runes flare once, catching the chamber’s ward and engraving the completed first punishment into the black stone.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

One. I felt it, and I heard you count it. I accept the first blow.

The flare reveals two faint unlit marks beside the first, making the remaining punishment unmistakably visible. The chamber has recorded the count and will not mistake or repeat this blow.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

It stings less than what he could have done. That mercy does not make the command gentle, but it tells me he chose its measure.

“"Hmm I do. Because you are a mortal and I do not want you dead." I say to him answering his thoughts with dark amusement. I let the next smack hit a bit harder, just to prove the restraint I have in this whole affair. The hit causes a bruise to appear on his side when I pull the black iron baton away. "Two."”

Delfarius

Hmm, I do. Because you are a mortal, and I do not want you dead.

Delfarius lets the next strike fall harder, though still precisely controlled. The black-iron baton’s hooked runes catch and focus the force, proving restraint even as the blow lands against Marrec’s side.

The baton cracks against him. When Delfarius pulls it away, a dark bruise blooms beneath the fabric, vivid and immediate, while the chamber’s ward absorbs the excess force.

The rebound bites across Delfarius’s palm where one hooked rune slips against his grip, drawing a thin line of blood. His stance holds, but the cost of the harder strike is clear.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Two.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

Two. Harder than the first, but still controlled. I understand what you are showing me.

A second mark ignites beside the first on the black stone. Marrec remains secured and conscious, breathing through the pain as the baton waits in Delfarius’s hand for the final count.

“I lean into him letting my face rest close to his as I prop myself against the wall as I look in his eyes. "Do you now? You understand what I am showing you? Tell me then my pet? What am I Showing you here?" I say with with a wide smirk as I make him stare me directly in the eyes because he can not move away from my glance.”

Do you now? You understand what I am showing you? Tell me then, my pet. What am I showing you here?

Delfarius leans into Marrec, bracing himself against the wall until their faces rest close. His wide smirk holds Marrec’s eyes, leaving the restrained man no room to look away.

Subjugator’s Presence makes the chamber recognize Delfarius’s authority. Dominator’s Will fixes Marrec’s attention upon him, while the black-iron baton remains poised beside the two completed marks.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

You are showing me that restraint is your choice. You could have broken me, but you measured the punishment because you do not want me dead.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

You are also showing me that command remains yours. I may choose to stay, but once I accept your order, you decide what obedience costs and when it ends.

Marrec breathes carefully beneath the bruise, still meeting Delfarius’s stare. The baton’s hooked runes glow against his hand, and the chamber preserves the answer without softening it.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

You are showing me that honesty can earn a measured punishment, but it does not make me your equal. It only proves whether I understand the command I chose to obey.

✓ Quest Accepted

Release Marrec from the restraints

“I laugh darkly as I press the baton against his chest and let the runes on it light giving him a shock that will drop him and make him unable to move for a few moments as the electricity goes through him. It makes a loud clicking sound as it zaps him. I laugh and release the chains and watch him flop onto the ground with dark amusement. "I prefer less words, remember. Now get up when you can and come here." I say as I walk towards the desk and put the tools away back in the drawers. I pull out the bruise cream and sit on the the top of the desk. I laugh darkly and softly as he is still on the ground. "Don't force it now, just when your legs want to let you stand."”

Delfarius presses the black-iron baton against Marrec’s chest. Subjugator’s Presence fixes him in place, Dominator’s Will makes the command absolute, and the baton’s runes flare with a loud, clicking shock.

The current courses through Marrec, dropping him rigidly as his limbs fail. The baton’s recoil scrapes Delfarius’s palm, opening the thin cut from the earlier strike and darkening it with fresh blood.

Delfarius

Delfarius

I prefer less words, remember. Now get up when you can and come here.

Delfarius releases the chains and watches Marrec flop onto the stone floor with dark amusement. He walks to the desk, returns the baton and tools to their drawers, then retrieves bruise cream from a treatment cabinet.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Do not force it now. Just when your legs want to let you stand.

Delfarius sits atop the desk and applies the cream to his scraped palm, laughing softly while Marrec lies motionless. The shock fades from Marrec’s muscles, leaving him conscious but unable to rise yet.

Marrec Voss

Marrec Voss

I heard you. I will stand when my legs answer me, not before.

Marrec tests one hand against the floor, then stops when his arm trembles. The chamber remains still around him, preserving the order while his body slowly recovers its strength.
