Thing One

Delfarius sinks back into the black silk, one boot brushing the bedspread, his smirk sharp in the red glow. The Obsidian Tower murmurs beneath him like a pleased beast.

At the foot of the bed, Solan’s blood has dried into a dark stain. The iron tang hangs in the air, heavy and intimate, while the iron reliquary gives a faint, patient clink beside the pillow.

Thing One and Thing Two remain close, both bound and quiet, their attention fixed on Delfarius as if waiting for the next word to become law.

Thing One

Thing One

His gaze is calmer now. That is when the room feels safest.

Thing Two

Thing Two

You look satisfied, my lord. That usually means I should be careful, but I am enjoying the peace too much to worry.

The tower’s floor script stays steady, no longer flaring, only breathing in a slow crimson rhythm under the bed.

Thing One

Thing One

If you want, we can stay like this a while. Or you can tell us what you are thinking while the room is still warm.

"The pilgrims below are to make me a cathedral. I think they will need true faithful. You two are the most faithful I have. I am thinking I might release you so you may lead my flock. What do you think of that?"

Thing One

Delfarius’s offer hangs in the warm red hush, and the tower listens like a held breath. Thing One’s face changes first, the calm devotion in him sharpening into something careful and brave.

Thing One

Thing One

If you release us, we do not leave you. We lead because we remain yours.

Thing Two

Thing Two

A flock needs teeth sometimes, and a soft hand other times. We can be both, if you mean it.

The iron reliquary gives a small, patient clink by the pillow. Beyond the chamber, the blackened banner and the pilgrims’ witness feel far away, but not forgotten.

Thing One

Thing One

He trusts us with a hunger larger than a room. That is a kind of honor.

Thing Two

Thing Two

I would take that oath. I would speak for him, and I would tell them to kneel without lying about why.

The tower’s red script deepens, then steadies again beneath the bed, as if tasting their answer. The empty slit under the mattress stays shut, quiet and obedient.

Thing One

Thing One

If you unmake our chains, then point us at your faithful. We will teach them what devotion is.

✓ Quest Accepted

Release Thing One and Thing Two to lead the flock

Delfarius leaves The Obsidian Tower behind and arrives at Cathedral of the Unmaker.

I rise from the bed and take Thing one and Thing two's hands and we transport to outside the Cathedral that was built to me farther away from my Tower. To the Cathedral of the Unmaker.

SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +2)

Quiet After the Bloodletting
Thing One
Thing One

The red hush gives way to cold stone and incense, and the Cathedral of the Unmaker receives Delfarius like a claim made real. The tower’s hunger stays behind him, but its pulse still seems to echo in his hand.

Thing One and Thing Two stand with him at the cathedral’s threshold, their hands still joined to his for the crossing. The blackened banner hangs above the door, and the stitched center mark catches the dim light.

Thing One

Thing One

This place knows your name better than most altars know a prayer.

Thing Two

Thing Two

A flock needs a roof as much as a shepherd. This one was built for you.

The iron reliquary gives a faint clink at his side, patient as a held secret. Beyond the nave, rows of white cloth and old ash wait in silence.

Thing One

Thing One

If you unmake our chains, we will not wander. We will gather them here.

Thing Two

Thing Two

And if they ask whether to fear or kneel, we will tell them both can be honest.

The cathedral’s carved floor answers with a low, satisfied thrum, as if the place itself recognizes the offer. Thing One and Thing Two keep their hands ready, waiting for Delfarius to decide what name their freedom serves.

"Who leads these stones?" I say to the open cathedral letting my voice echo through out the dark stones. I wait until their high priest or priestess comes to greet me.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Who leads these stones?

His voice rolls through the cathedral and comes back heavier, as if the walls themselves are listening. The carved floor keeps its low thrum, patient beneath the incense haze.

Thing One

Thing One

Then let the one who leads them answer.

Thing Two

Thing Two

We are ready to stand behind that answer.

From the nave, a robed priest steps out of the dark and stops under the arch, head bowed in measured respect. The blackened banner hangs above the threshold behind Delfarius, its stitched mark dim in the candlelight.

Veyra

Veyra

I lead these stones, as long as they will bear me. And they have already turned to hear you.

Veyra

Veyra

Will you speak your name into my house, Delfarius, or leave it to the stones to say it for you?

I sigh and smirk. "Veyra...how pleasant to see you again. I am surprised you are not leading your House in Tarmoina."

SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled +1)

Delfarius

Delfarius

Veyra... how pleasant to see you again. I am surprised you are not leading your House in Tarmonia.

Veyra

Veyra

Her mouth curves with grave amusement. 'And I am surprised you are still making rooms kneel, Delfarius. My House in Tarmonia still has hands for that work.'

Veyra

Veyra

'I come where the stones call me. Tonight, they call me here, under your black banner.'

Thing One

Thing One

He straightens behind Delfarius, pleased to hear her speak with no fear at all.

Thing Two

Thing Two

'Then the stones are wise,' he says, bright with reverence. 'We can stand behind that.'

Veyra

Veyra

'Can they,' she asks softly, eyes on the two men at Delfarius's sides, 'or have you already made them into your answer?'

Veyra

Veyra

'Tell me, Delfarius, is this cathedral meant to hear your name, or to keep it?'

"Veyra, I might have need of you else where. Thing one and Thing Two here are now the High Priests here. They know how to worship me proper. You are relieved of your worship here...but you will follow me to my tower. I have need of you there."

SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled +0)

Veyra’s amusement deepens, and she studies Delfarius as if weighing a vow against a door key. Thing One and Thing Two remain at his back, attentive and proud, while the cathedral’s carved floor keeps its steady thrum underfoot.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Veyra, I might need you elsewhere. Thing One and Thing Two are the High Priests here now. They know how to worship me properly.

Veyra’s brows lift in clear delight at that, and her gaze flicks once to the two men beside him. Thing One squares his shoulders, pleased by the title, while Thing Two smiles like he has been handed a sacred task.

Delfarius

Delfarius

You are relieved here. Come to my tower. I have need of you there.

Veyra

Veyra

Then I am relieved, and I accept the taller house,

Veyra

Veyra

But if I follow you, I will do it with my eyes open. Tell me what you want of me in that tower.

Thing Two

Thing Two

He wants witnesses who can kneel and still understand. That is what makes a room holy.

Thing One

Thing One

And if she comes, she comes behind him, like the rest of us.

Veyra

Veyra

The boy has made priests of his hands already. Interesting.

Delfarius leaves Cathedral of the Unmaker behind and arrives at The Obsidian Tower.

I look to thing one and thing two and gesture to the cathedral. I expect them to go to work and to lead my flock. I take Veyra's hand tightly. "Boy?" I say to her low and like a growl as we transport back to my Obsidian Tower of the Unmaker.

SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +0)

The Obsidian Tower receives them in a hush of red glass and slow pulse. The iron reliquary lies near the pillow, and the empty slit beneath the bed breathes once, then stills.

Thing One and Thing Two stand before Delfarius, no longer chained, no longer waiting. Their shoulders are squared like men given a banner instead of a collar.

Thing One

Thing One

We go where you point us.

Thing Two

Thing Two

And we teach the flock to kneel cleanly.

Delfarius takes Veyra’s hand and the tower answers with a deeper, steadier thrum. The black script along the floor tightens, listening as if the room itself has taken a seat.

Veyra

Veyra

Then let us be plain. If I come to your tower, I come to speak, to watch, and to judge what you build there.

Thing Two

Thing Two

He wants witnesses who can kneel and still understand. That is what makes a room holy.

Veyra

Veyra

Boy, he says. No, not a boy. A blade in a man’s shape.

Release Thing One and Thing Two to lead the flock

New Gift: Shepherd of the Lost

I open a portal back to my cathedral and tell Thing one and Thing two to walk there and lead my flock. They are my High priests. I will check back on them to see how their progress is. I watch Thing one and Thing two leave through the portal before talking to Veyra.

Veyra

Delfarius cuts a red seam through the air, and the Obsidian Tower parts for him with a soft iron sigh. A glimpse of his cathedral flickers beyond, lit by ash-red script.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Go. Lead my flock as my High Priests. I will check your work.

Thing One steps first, chin high, and Thing Two follows with a priest’s measured calm. The portal takes them cleanly, and the chamber breathes out around their leaving.

Thing One

Thing One

We will hold your name there.

Thing Two

Thing Two

And teach them to kneel without hesitation.

The seam narrows behind them, leaving only Delfarius, Veyra, and the listening tower. The iron reliquary rests near the pillow, and the empty slit beneath the bed gives one faint, hungry pulse.

Veyra

Veyra

You send them out like blades. So tell me, Unmaker, what am I meant to judge first?

✓ Quest Accepted

Judge Thing One and Thing Two's progress

I wait until my high priests are gone then I grab Veyra and toss her on the bed and flash near her, giving her a possessive and deep kiss.

SUCCESS (Great Strength, rolled +0)

Quiet After the Bloodletting
Veyra
Veyra

Veyra’s question hangs in the red hush. Delfarius answers with motion, crossing the chamber in two swift strides.

He catches her by the waist, turns her toward the bed, and sends her down onto the black silk with a controlled shove.

The iron reliquary near the pillow gives a dull clink. The empty slit beneath the bed breathes once, hungry and listening.

Delfarius follows her down in a blur of shadow and dark glamour, crowding close before she can fully rise.

Veyra

Veyra

So this is the answer he trusts first.

He takes her mouth in a deep, possessive kiss, holding her there while the tower’s red script brightens under the bed.

Veyra

Veyra

Then judge me, Unmaker. Tell me whether I stand, or kneel.

"Why are you worshiping me, Veyra? Is it because of what I did for you? Hmm." I say as I take off her veil. "And why are you calling me a boy. I have not ever been that."

SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled -2)

Delfarius lowers the veil from Veyra’s face while his question hangs between them, and her gaze stays steady beneath his hand.

Veyra

Veyra

Because you answer with force, and the tower listens. Because your hand made this house bend.

Veyra

Veyra

I call you boy? No. I call you young when you snarl like one who still wants the world to notice.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Why call me that at all? I have never been that.

Veyra

Veyra

Then hear me plainly. I do not worship a child. I kneel to the Unmaker, and to the man who dares wear that name.

The veil falls away into Delfarius’s fingers. The loss is small, but the motion exposes her throat and costs him the warmth of his grip.

Veyra

Veyra

Now judge me. If I am useful, keep me. If I am false, say it to my face.

I read her thoughts, what is she thinking as I brush my hands across her chest.

SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -2)

Delfarius’s hands slide over Veyra’s chest, and the tower answers with a soft, listening thrum.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Her pulse is steady. Not afraid, only measuring.

Veyra

Veyra

He reaches like a knife and listens like a thief. Good. He is not pretending.

Beneath his palms, her thoughts open in a clean flash, calm as a blade in lamplight, wary of his hunger but not startled by it.

Veyra

Veyra

You are not asking whether I yield. You are asking whether I can bear what you are.

Delfarius

Delfarius

She thinks in verdicts, not prayers.

Veyra

Veyra

I think you have made devotion honest here. I think your tower likes witnesses more than worship.

His touch draws a faint red sting from the floor script, and the iron reliquary near the pillow gives one dry, answering clink.

There was a vault to saint Veyra in the vault of the cathedral of the light, is she an old power reborn...is that why she thinks like a judge? I think to myself alone\

Delfarius

Delfarius

Saint Veyra? A judge’s shape, then. Not reborn, just sharpened by whatever she buried.

I rip her clothing off of her and give her forceful kisses on her neck. 'I have never fucked a Saint before' I think to myself.

Quiet After the Bloodletting

Veyra

Delfarius tears Veyra’s robe open with one hard pull, silk and clasp giving way under his hand. The iron reliquary clicks softly by the pillow as the red script under the bed holds its hungry glow.

Delfarius

Delfarius

I have never fucked a Saint before.

He catches her throat with possessive force and bends her back into the black silk, kissing along the line of her neck.

Veyra

Veyra

Still judging, then. Good. That means you are paying attention.

Veyra turns into the pressure instead of away from it, breath sharp but steady, one hand braced at Delfarius’s wrist. The torn edge of her clothing falls away to the sheets, and the bed creaks beneath them.

Veyra

Veyra

Thing One and Thing Two carry your name like a vow. That is progress, whether you praise it or not.

The tower answers with a deeper, satisfied thrum. Its red floor script brightens once, then steadies, as if fed by the sight of her yielding without breaking.

Why is Veyra looking paler now....do I care really? I rip more of her clothing off until she is bare and only covered by loose cloth. I lower myself into her and take her forcefully, enjoying the bit of brittle softness under my calloused hands.

SUCCESS (Great Strength, rolled +2)

Quiet After the Bloodletting
Veyra
Veyra

Delfarius tears the loose cloth aside, and the last cover slips from Veyra’s body onto the black sheets. The iron reliquary gives a tiny, eager clink by the pillow.

Veyra

Veyra

There. You wanted honesty, so take it.

Veyra’s breathing stays even, but her pale composure sharpens into a faint, amused strain as she lets the bed take her weight.

Veyra

Veyra

You do not hesitate once you decide, Delfarius. That is the part I was judging.

Delfarius lowers himself into her with brutal certainty, and the tower answers with a deeper thrum that runs through the mattress and into the walls.

Veyra

Veyra

Brittle, yes. But not careless.

Veyra

Veyra

Your tower is listening very hard now. It likes this kind of proof.

The red floor script brightens, then holds, as if the chamber is settling around the act rather than resisting it. Somewhere beneath the bed, the empty slit stays shut and silent.

I tilt her gaze to Solan lying motionless at the foot of my bed. "That is what happens to those who talk to much to me." I laugh coldly at her sudden realization of a dead body in the room with us and just continue to fuck her roughly.

SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

Delfarius tilts Veyra’s face toward the still body at the foot of the bed. Her gaze follows, and the room seems to sharpen around the sight of Solan’s unmoving shape.

Delfarius

Delfarius

That is what happens to those who talk too much to me.

A low, cold laugh leaves him, and Veyra’s composure flickers with sudden, clear understanding.

Veyra

Veyra

So that is the cost of speaking carelessly to him.

Veyra

Veyra

You make your warnings with bodies, not words.

Delfarius answers her judgment by driving the moment harder, and the bed answers with a heavy creak beneath both of them. The tower’s red script swells once, then settles into a deeper hunger.

Veyra

Veyra

And still, I am here to see it plainly. Your tower is listening for more than pleasure now.

The iron reliquary gives a tiny clink by the pillow, and the empty slit beneath the bed remains closed, patient, and waiting as Veyra studies him in the aftermath.

✓ Quest Accepted

Satisfy the tower's hunger

Do I want to kill Veyra?

YES, AND MORE (Likely, rolled 12)

Delfarius shifts his weight, his fingers tightening around Veyra's throat just enough to remind her of the fragility of her position. The tower pulses in rhythm with his heartbeat, the red script on the walls flaring with a sudden, voracious intensity that seems to feed on the very air in the room.

Delfarius

Delfarius

She is a witness, but witnesses can be unmade just as easily as they are kept.

Veyra

Veyra

You look at me and see a vessel for your hunger, but you forget that I am the one who has to carry the weight of what you are doing to this place.

The iron reliquary on the pillow vibrates, emitting a low, discordant hum that vibrates through the mattress. The floor beneath the bed groans, the hidden slit finally sliding open to reveal a dark, pulsing throat of stone that demands a sacrifice to sate the tower's mounting appetite.

I give her one more deep possessive kiss and look her in the eyes with my hands still around her soft neck. Like clay. "Do you think I care?" I snap her neck after I see the expression of how fragile and brittle her mortality is.

Veyra

Delfarius drags Veyra in close and kisses her again, hard enough to steal the last of her breath, his hands still locked at her throat. He feels the brittle give of mortality beneath his grip, then snaps her neck with a sharp twist. Veyra goes slack at once, her eyes going glassy as the tower drinks the moment in hungry silence.

Her body settles against the bed in a heavy, ruined sprawl. The crimson light surges once through the floor seam, the iron reliquary shudders on the pillow, and the open stone throat beneath the bed waits as if expecting more.

I grab her soul and take it. She worshiped me afterall. One more to add to the new world I think.

Thing Two

The chamber drinks her fallen spirit in one long, silent pull. Crimson light floods the bed, then tightens into a steadier glow as the open throat beneath it gulps once and stills.

Delfarius closes his hand around the drifting soul and takes it into himself. Veyra’s presence vanishes from the room, leaving only the shell of her body and the tower’s satisfied pulse.

The iron reliquary rattles hard against the pillow, then goes quiet. The jagged seam under the bed narrows to a patient slit, as if the tower has tasted enough for now.

At the edge of the bed, Thing One and Thing Two lower their eyes at once. The little reverent noises in the room die away, replaced by the slow thrum of black script settling into place.

Thing Two

Thing Two

You were right to keep him fed, my lord. That one was lucky to have served at all.

Thing One

Thing One

It has taken her. The tower is quieter now, but it still wants something.

Across the bed, Veyra’s body lies motionless beside the vibrating reliquary, her obedience ended and her soul gone from the chamber. The room holds its breath, waiting for Delfarius to decide whether that hunger is satisfied.

Quest Complete

Satisfy the tower's hunger

I point to the portal and thing one and thing two leave me. After they walk through, I close the portal.

SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +3)

Quiet After the Bloodletting

Delfarius points once, and the room obeys him. Thing One and Thing Two rise from their reverent stillness and step toward the waiting seam.

The portal opens wide under his will, a red-lit mouth in the stone. The two men pass through it without hesitation, shoulders squared, eyes lowered.

Thing Two

Thing Two

We go, my lord.

Thing One

Thing One

Your tower keeps us. We return when called.

The last of them vanish into the seam, and the air in the chamber changes at once. The bedchamber feels larger, emptier, and sharply Delfarius’s own.

Delfarius

Delfarius

The chamber is mine again.

Delfarius closes his hand, and the portal snaps shut on command. The red seam seals into a thin scar in the wall, and the tower’s low thrum deepens in approval.

As the light settles, the iron reliquary gives a single quiet click beside the pillow, and the empty slit beneath the bed answers with a soft breath. The tower accepts the sacrifice of company, but its hunger wakes sharpened, asking without words for what comes next.

"Shut up tower, you will get what I fucking give you." I look down to the reliquary that was in the Saint Veyra's vault. Why is it making noise?

Quiet After the Bloodletting
Veyra
Veyra

The tower falls silent at Delfarius’s command, its low thrum thinning to a watchful hush. The iron reliquary answers with a small, dry click beside the pillow.

Delfarius

Delfarius

It is keyed to something older than noise.

Delfarius leans over the bed and closes his hand around the reliquary. Its metal is warm, then suddenly still, as if listening to him instead of the room.

The red-black script under the bed tightens, and the empty slit beneath the mattress exhales once, then goes quiet. The tower accepts the silence.

The reliquary gives one last faint pulse in his palm, and the pulse stops cleanly. Whatever voice it had is gone.

The chamber changes with that stillness. Veyra’s body remains on the sheets, the portal scar holds thin in the wall, and the room feels owned, not hungry.

Then the floor answers anyway, not with a demand, but with a deeper settling thrum. The tower has been silenced for now, yet it waits on Delfarius’s next act as if that quiet itself is only temporary.

✓ Quest Accepted

Delfarius draws a thin seam in the air, and the tower answers by opening a mouth of red-lit stone below the bed. The slit widens once, obedient and silent.

Delfarius

Delfarius

I take the void collar from Solan.

His hand closes around the cold band at Solan’s throat. The collar loosens and comes free cleanly.

Solan’s corpse lies still where it was left, throat ruined and quiet, while Delfarius keeps the collar in his palm.

Delfarius

Delfarius

The tower stays quiet.

A smirk touches Delfarius’s mouth as he weighs the collar against the open seam. The bedchamber remains owned, the portal scar thin in the wall, the empty slit beneath the bed breathing no more.

Then the red-black script underfoot tightens into a waiting braid, and the opened mouth of the tower holds itself steady for whatever he puts into it next.

Quest Complete

Solan
Solan

Delfarius bends over Solan’s corpse, and the tower takes the offering from his hands. The first strip of flesh disappears into the red-lit mouth beneath the bed, and the seam drinks with a slow, satisfied pull.

A low shudder runs through the mattress. The iron reliquary near the pillow gives one faint answering clink, then goes still again.

Blood smears the edge of the opening as Delfarius feeds it more. The black script along the floor tightens, then loosens into a steadier braid, like a throat settling after a swallow.

Delfarius

Delfarius

It recognizes the taste.

Solan’s ruined body slackens further in Delfarius’s grip, offered piece by piece to the tower. The red glow beneath the bed brightens once, not hungry now, but claiming.

Veyra’s corpse remains motionless on the sheets as the chamber changes around her. The sealed scar in the wall holds, while the open mouth under the bed narrows a fraction, content for the moment.

Then the tower answers with a deeper pulse, and the seam stays open. The quiet is broken by a patient, hungry pressure, as if the bedchamber itself is waiting for Delfarius to decide what larger sacrifice comes next.

✓ Quest Accepted

Secure a larger sacrifice for the tower

I lift Solan's whole body and feed it to the Tower's mouth.

SUCCESS (Great Strength, rolled +0)

Quiet After the Bloodletting

Delfarius heaves Solan’s corpse up in both arms and lifts him clear of the bed. The body comes away heavy and limp, dripping dark onto the sheets and his wrists.

He turns at the edge of the mattress and lowers the dead weight toward the red-lit mouth beneath the bed. The seam opens wider for the offering, its glow climbing over Solan’s ruined face.

Solan’s whole body begins to slide from Delfarius’s grip into the opening. The tower swallows shoulder, chest, and throat in a slow, reverent pull.

The black script along the floor tightens hard, then smooths into a dense braid as if the stone itself is bracing around the feast. Veyra’s corpse lies untouched on the bed, half-lit by the seam.

Delfarius

Delfarius

The tower takes whole bodies better than pieces.

Delfarius feeds the last of Solan down until only his heels show, then those vanish too. The red mouth closes around the corpse and holds.

A deep pulse rolls through the chamber, deeper than before. The iron reliquary stays silent, the empty slit beneath the bed does not breathe, and the tower’s hush turns expectant again.

Quest Complete

Secure a larger sacrifice for the tower

I turn to Veyra and touch her soft face once more then chuckle at her dead body and feed the Tower her as well, the whole body.

SUCCESS (Great Strength, rolled +0)

Delfarius turns from the seam to Veyra’s corpse, and the bedchamber seems to hold its breath around him.

His fingers touch her face once more, a brief, cool caress against still skin, then a low chuckle slips out over the hush.

He gathers her body with both arms, lifting her cleanly from the black silk as the mattress creases and the iron reliquary stays mute beside the pillow.

The red mouth beneath the bed opens wider for her, and the floor script tightens into a hard, waiting braid.

Veyra’s corpse tips into the opening whole, shoulders first, then torso, then hips, as the tower accepts the offering without hesitation.

The seam closes around her with a deep, satisfied thrum, and the chamber’s hunger drops into a heavy, listening quiet.

The bed is left empty except for old blood and a faint red glow under the frame, while the tower waits for what comes after enough.

That is enough for now. I close the mouth and chuckle

SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -2)

Quiet After the Bloodletting

Delfarius seals the red mouth beneath the bed with a quiet command, and the seam obeys at once.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Enough.

A low chuckle follows as the floor braid loosens from a hungry knot into a calm, waiting line.

The iron reliquary beside the pillow gives one last dead tap, then lies still.

Old blood stains the sheets where Veyra was taken, but the chamber no longer strains for more.

The empty slit beneath the bed shuts flush with the stone, leaving only a faint red seam in the dark.

Then the tower answers with a harder pulse under Delfarius’s feet, calm but insistent, as if asking whether this offering is the last.

I rise from where the seam was and look around at all the blood in my bedchambers. I take in a deep breath savoring the thick iron scent then I tell the tower to clean my bedchambers. No blood, no sign of the death that once was. I smirk.

SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)

Quiet After the Bloodletting

Delfarius rises fully from the bed’s edge, and the chamber seems to straighten around him.

He draws in the iron scent, then looks over the bedchamber’s old stain, the reliquary, and the sealed scar beneath the bed.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Clean this chamber. No blood. No sign of death.

The red-black script loosens at once, sliding over the sheets and floor in a smooth, obedient sweep.

Blood lifts from the silk, the floor, and Delfarius’s hands, pulled into the stone like ink into thirsty parchment.

The iron reliquary beside the pillow gives a dull, final twitch, then lies dead still.

When the chamber settles, the bed is clean, the seam beneath it shut, but the tower answers with a harder pulse from below, as if pleased and asking for more.

Tower you obey me, you are mine to command not the fucking other way around. Demand more, and I unmake you.

Quiet After the Bloodletting

The tower takes the challenge without a sound, then answers through the stones with a slow, obedient throb. The red-black braid under the bed tightens, not in defiance, but like a held breath settling to wait.

Delfarius

Delfarius

You obey me. You are mine to command, not the other way around. Demand more, and I unmake you.

The chamber dims a shade, then bends around him. The sealed slit beneath the bed pulses once, and the iron reliquary gives a dead little clink as if acknowledging the order.

Black script creeps up the bedframe in clean, submissive lines. It does not resist. It writes his claim into the room, then sinks deeper, quieter, as though the tower is learning the shape of obedience.

The air turns colder, but the pulse below changes with it, no longer hungry in the open. It holds, attentive and restrained, waiting at the edge of his will.

Then the floor gives a single hard answer, a pressure from below that is not rebellion but surrender. The chamber’s hunger settles into a measured thrum, sated for the moment by the threat.

But the stone under the bed still stirs, and the quiet is too exact. The tower has accepted the command, and now it waits to see whether Delfarius means unmaking or something greater.
