Delfarius continues along the maintained road beneath Vrsha’s questioning gaze, his smirk unchanged. Pistol carefully carries the fading blue blossoms while Stabby marches beside her.

Stabby McStabbson
Stabbyland! Stabby mayor now! Stabby claim town, road, flowers, and all shiny rocks!
The road ends at a fortified wayhouse built from scorched stone. Beside its gate, Nara sits with travel gear and a half-empty cup, watching the procession approach.

Nara
Those flowers are old boundary magic. They fade when carried beyond the frontier. Vrsha, is your new companion a guide, a sorcerer, or trouble given human shape?

Vrsha
I am still deciding. He has led us through a road no guild map records, and he made that road disappear behind us.
Vrsha keeps the guild’s sealed ledger and its branching sigil unmentioned. The wayhouse gate remains open, its inner courtyard quiet enough for secrets to change hands unseen.

Nara
Then come inside before the guild’s curiosity catches up. There is a private room, and I would like to hear what this expedition is truly seeking.

Keep Vrsha cooperative after Nara questions the expedition
“I raise an eyebrow at Nara and laugh softly. "Three marks, getting closer." I say to her in perfect Orcish. Nara refers to me by my orcish name and Vrsha is not sure of it since she was raised by her elven parent. She asks me about the name and the meaning and what we are saying. Pistol and Stabby say they can speak different words too and start talking in Dwarven. I give Nara an amused look.”
SUCCESS (Great Occult Lore, rolled +1)

Delfarius
Three marks, getting closer.
Delfarius raises an eyebrow and laughs softly, speaking in flawless Orcish. Nara’s cup stills, and recognition passes across her face at the implication of the three completed rites.

Nara
Uruk-Vile. You count the marks well. Three rites are behind me, and the storm rite draws nearer. That is enough said before strangers.

Vrsha
Uruk-Vile? Is that your name? I was raised by my elven parent, so I know only fragments of Orcish. What did you say, and what does the name mean?
Nara gives Delfarius an amused, guarded look, clearly unwilling to translate the name’s deeper weight for someone who does not fully understand the tongue.

Pistol
We can speak different words too! Stabby, say something in Dwarven!

Stabby McStabbson
GRAK! Stabby speak Dwarven! Treasure under stone, mayor in making, very important goblin!
Pistol answers in enthusiastic Dwarven, and Stabby responds with loud, mangled confidence. Delfarius gives Nara an amused look while Vrsha watches, still waiting for an answer she may not receive.
“I walk closer to Nara and say to her in perfect Orcish "What are you doing out here? Did the earth here call to you to perform a rite to appease it?" Nara responds to my question in Orcish. Vrsha remarks how it is kind of rude to be speaking a language not everyone can understand and Pistol and Stabby look around looking for what trouble and treasure they can find.”
SUCCESS (Good Diplomacy, rolled +1)

Delfarius
What are you doing out here? Did the earth call to you to perform a rite and appease it?

Nara
The earth called, yes, but not for appeasement. I came to answer it, Uruk-Vile. The frontier is restless, and the storm rite approaches.
Nara rises with her cup still in hand, answering in fluent Orcish. Her guarded amusement carries an older familiarity with the scorched ground and its buried rites.

Vrsha
It is rather rude to speak in a language no one else can understand, especially when we are deciding whether this expedition is safe.
Vrsha folds her arms, watching Nara and Delfarius with sharpened curiosity. She does not mention the ledger, but her attention fixes on every pause between their words.
Pistol wanders toward the wayhouse gate, searching for friendly doors and glowing traces, while Cox and Rocket investigate the stones. Stabby circles the courtyard, sniffing for treasure and trouble.

Nara
Let the little ones search. The frontier hides both beneath the same stones. But if you seek the rite, come inside and hear what the earth demanded.
“"It is your rite." I say raising a hand towards Nara in common. "And this is my ledger now." I say with a smirk as I draw the hidden ledger from the guild and Vrsha with my power, to my outstretched fingers laughing at Vrsha's alarm. Nara remarks about how I am so very dangerous when I am amused, reminding her of the amused look I had when I came to talk to the gate-father in Karak'Grom.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Void Manipulation, rolled +2)

Delfarius
It is your rite. And this is my ledger now.
Delfarius raises one hand toward Nara. Shadow gathers around his outstretched fingers, and the hidden ledger tears free from Vrsha’s belongings, crossing the courtyard into his grasp.
The ledger lands neatly in his palm. Its branching sigil flares once beneath the cover before his power quiets it, while Vrsha recoils with sudden alarm.

Vrsha
You took it from me without touching me. That ledger was sealed, hidden, and entrusted to my expedition.

Nara
You are so very dangerous when you are amused, Uruk-Vile. That smile reminds me of the day you came to speak with the Gate-Father in Karak’Grom.
Nara’s guarded amusement deepens as she studies the ledger in Delfarius’s hand. Pistol and Stabby remain near the gate, distracted by glowing traces and loose stones.

Vrsha
Tell me what you intend to do with it, traveler. I may not understand your language, but I understand theft when I see it.
+ New Item Acquired
Guild ledger
“I smirk and hold it up as all of the Inks on the ledgers crawl into my veins. "Theft is a strong word, and strong language to the one who owns all the Inks." I laugh. The route, the hidden passage. All of it is now gone. What I hold is an empty ledger. I hand it back to Vrsha. "Here is the guild's book back." I look to Nara amused at her amusement of the stranger to the camp of her people. I say so everyone can understand the words I speak. "What do the stones demand of you, Nara? I often find stones to drone on and on..."”
SUCCESS (Legendary Void Manipulation, rolled -1)

Delfarius raises the ledger with a knowing smirk. Its inks loosen from the pages, crawling like dark threads into his veins until every route, sigil, and hidden passage belongs to his memory.

Delfarius
Theft is a strong word, and strong language to the one who owns all the Inks.
The branching route vanishes from the ledger and from the world behind them. The buried passage seals into ordinary earth, leaving the book blank except for harmless paper and binding.
Delfarius offers the emptied ledger back to Vrsha. She accepts it cautiously, opening the covers to find the guild’s secrets reduced to silent, useless pages.

Delfarius
Here is the guild's book back.

Delfarius
What do the stones demand of you, Nara? I often find stones to drone on and on...

Nara
They demand a storm rite, Uruk-Vile. Beneath this frontier sleeps a heart of stone that remembers every wound laid upon the land. It wants an answer, not appeasement.
“"The stone wants the rite? Or are you asking for it...those are two different things, Nara." Vrsha flips through the book wondering what the heck happened and asks me for a plain answer. Nara remarks to my statement and then looks at Vrsha and says how she is lucky I am in an amused mood and not a destructive mood entirely. Then Nara remarks how the tribe noticed the display in the sky a few nights back. I just hum satisfied remembering the sex and display of the sex to the mortals and then Vrsha has a small clue as to whom I might be.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +2)

Delfarius
The stone wants the rite? Or are you asking for it, Nara? Those are two different things.
Vrsha flips through the emptied ledger, finding only blank pages. Her fingers stop on the binding as she looks up, plainly demanding an answer.

Nara
The stone demands an answer. I am asking you to witness it, Uruk-Vile. Whether you perform the rite is your choice, but the frontier will not forget silence.

Vrsha
Plainly, then. What happened to the book, and what exactly are you? I would prefer an answer without riddles or borrowed titles.

Nara
You are fortunate he is amused today. In a destructive mood, he would have left only dust where this wayhouse stands.
Nara glances toward the strange blue sky. Her guarded expression shifts as she recalls the violet display that crowned the heavens several nights earlier.

Nara
My tribe saw that spectacle above the kingdoms. Thunder, lovers, and a storm made into a throne. Vrsha, you have been traveling with the one who claimed the sky.

Keep Vrsha cooperative after Nara questions the expedition
“I sigh and then look around. "I assume you have other elders and priestesses to assist you? Is your mother here?" Vrsha looks at me, and whispers to herself about the weird power that was witnessed in the sky wondering if she is in mortal danger or not. Nara answers my questions and then she looks at Vrsha and laughs telling her she should be fine, I am talking not glaring at her. I turn to Vrsha and then laugh myself.”
SUCCESS (Good Diplomacy, rolled +1)

Delfarius
I assume you have other elders and priestesses to assist you? Is your mother here?
Delfarius sighs and surveys the fortified wayhouse, its scorched stones and quiet courtyard holding beneath the strange blue sky. Vrsha watches him closely.

Vrsha
That sky-throne, the vanished road, the empty ledger. Am I standing beside a mortal danger?

Nara
I have elders and priestesses, yes. My mother remains in Karak'Grom, tending the old rites and scolding anyone foolish enough to disturb them. She is not here.

Nara
And Vrsha, stop whispering to yourself. You are safe enough. He is talking to me, not glaring at you.
Nara laughs into her cup. Vrsha blinks, then lowers her guarded hand from her travel gear as understanding replaces alarm.
Delfarius turns toward Vrsha and laughs as well. The tension loosens across the courtyard, while Pistol and Stabby continue searching the stones for friendlier mysteries.
“"The stone will mark you if you meet it's demands and listen. You will still need to meet me again for your true storm rite." I smirk as I lean in close to Nara. Vrsha realizes suddenly that we are still speaking orcish and she can understand us. I laugh and remark how amusing it is that she just now noticed. Pistol runs up and shows me a rock that she found with Cox. Stabby is trying to convince some younger orcish scouts to be part of his family.”
SUCCESS (Good Diplomacy, rolled -3)

Delfarius
The stone will mark you when you meet its demands and listen. Until then, you will still need to meet me again for your true storm rite.
Delfarius leans close to Nara, his smirk quiet and certain. Beneath the wayhouse, the stone heart gives one deep pulse, acknowledging the condition without marking her.

Nara
Then I will listen and answer when the stone calls, Uruk-Vile. Afterward, I will return to you for the storm rite.
The private exchange costs him a sharper suspicion from Vrsha. Her expression changes as the Orcish words suddenly become clear, every cadence resolving into meaning.

Vrsha
Wait. I understand you now. You have both been speaking Orcish this entire time.

Delfarius
How amusing that you have only just noticed.
Delfarius laughs, and Nara joins him. Pistol races across the courtyard with a gray rock in her hands, while Cox, a tiny shadow squirrel, clings to her shoulder. Nearby, Stabby tries recruiting young Orcish scouts into his family.
“Pistol shows Nara and I the shiny stone that Cox and her found. I look amused. Pistol finds things she should not....Nara looks at it and is stunned that it is speaking to her and demanding a storm rite. Then Nara remarks how she thought it was buried deep under the ground. Pistol says it was talking and she asked it to come closer so she could hear what it was saying Vrsha is wondering if she has gone insane or is still passed out, dreaming about the man she had sex with. Nara looks to and remarks about that and Pistol asks what sex is. I just laugh and remark to all the questions.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)

Pistol hurries across the courtyard, cupping a polished gray stone in both hands. Cox clings to her shoulder as blue light pulses beneath its surface.

Delfarius
Yes, I am indeed amused. To all the questions.
Delfarius laughs openly, his amusement carrying through the wayhouse courtyard. Pistol proudly presents the stone to Nara, who reaches for it with sudden caution.

Nara
It is speaking to me. It demands the storm rite. I thought this heart was buried deep beneath the ground.

Pistol
It was buried, but it started talking! I asked it to come closer so I could hear what it was saying.

Vrsha
Have I gone insane, or am I still unconscious and dreaming about the man I had sex with?

Nara
It is real, Vrsha. Though now I wonder whether the stone, the rite, or your dream is the strangest part.

Pistol
What is sex?
“i laugh even louder and watch as Vrsha tries to delicately either deflect Pistol's question or try to answer it. Nara looks over the stone and starts to go to where she needs to do the Storm rite for the stone with her other of the tribe that combined can do the rite. Stabby comes up with three orc youths and declares to Pistol they are now part of the family.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Perception, rolled +1)

Delfarius laughs even louder, his voice rolling beneath the strange blue sky. Vrsha’s dream-struck question leaves the courtyard bright with awkward silence and Nara’s restrained amusement.

Vrsha
Sex is... an adult affection, Pistol. A private sort of closeness between people who choose it. That is enough explanation for now.

Pistol
Oh. So it is like sharing sweets, but with fewer sweets? Can I ask more later?

Vrsha
Much later. Preferably when you are old enough to understand why questions like that make grown adventurers lose their balance.
Nara turns the polished stone through her fingers, studying its blue pulse. She beckons toward the wayhouse’s eastern stones, where several carved pillars form a waiting circle.

Nara
The tribe’s other voices are there. Together, we can answer the storm heart properly. Stay behind the marked stones unless invited.

Stabby McStabbson
Pistol! Stabby find family! Three orc youths join family now. They strong, know stones, and maybe help Stabby become mayor!
“i clap Vrsha on the shoulder and say, "Like week legs." I say as I follow Nara. Pistol and Stabby go to follow me and Nara and Nara tells those two to stay back with the half elf and watch from a distance.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +2)

Delfarius
Like weak legs.
Delfarius claps Vrsha’s shoulder with deliberate familiarity, then follows Nara toward the eastern pillars. Vrsha steadies herself, cheeks warming beneath an indignant stare.

Vrsha
I am perfectly capable of standing, guiding, and remembering exactly who made that remark.
Pistol and Stabby hurry after them, but Nara turns sharply and raises one hand. The polished stone pulses blue against her palm.

Nara
Stay back, little ones. You and the half elf watch from there. The storm heart answers only those within the marked circle.
Pistol halts beside Vrsha, Cox and Rocket peering over her shoulders. Stabby grudgingly joins them, clutching his magic pouch and muttering about unfair mayoral restrictions.
Nara leads Delfarius between the carved pillars. Beneath the scorched earth, the stone heart awakens with a deep blue pulse, and wind gathers beneath the strange sky.
“I fold my arms and watch as Nara and other of her tribe come near and start to chant to the storm, and call for the lightning to come down and give the stone it's blessing. I am only a witness this time. The five of them together might just be enough to call one bolt I think to myself. Meanwhile, the Void and shadow curl around me and lash out in violet flashes of bright bolts, hitting no one but just showing them all of who indeed, which power watches the rite.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Delfarius folds his arms and watches from beyond the marked circle. Nara and four tribal voices approach, their feet striking a measured rhythm upon the scorched earth.

Delfarius
Five voices together might be enough to call one bolt.

Nara
Stone beneath us, remember the wounds. Sky above us, answer what the earth has endured.
The five begin to chant. Their voices braid through the rising wind as blue radiance gathers beneath the polished stone and the carved pillars.
Then Void and shadow curl around Delfarius, lashing outward in harmless violet flashes. Bolts strike empty ground around the witnesses, illuminating every face without touching flesh.

Vrsha
That is your idea of watching, is it? You stand outside the rite while the sky announces your power for you.
Thunder answers from above. A single natural lightning bolt descends into the stone heart, and blue light floods the circle as the tribe’s chant resolves into reverent silence.
