The seam in the foundation throbs beneath Delfarius’s feet, black script crawling faster as he turns to the hidden passage. The two iron boxes feel cold and hungry in his grip, while the star-cut diamond trembles like a trapped breath.

Delfarius
It is time to wrangle a storm, again.
He opens both boxes. Their lids split with a low iron cry, and the passage answers at once, unsealing with a wet, stone-deep click. Repine’s shadow coils higher, ears pricked toward the widening dark.
Old echoes surge out, not as voices but as pressure, a past self and a future hunger pressing against the room’s edges. The tower resists, script flaring in rhythmic pulses across the floor and walls.
Delfarius drives the tower’s hunger toward the boxes, guiding it like a storm into a waiting basin. The star-cut diamond flashes as it tightens around the false future trapped within, making the shard quiver instead of break.
For one sharp moment, the seam, the diamond, and the iron boxes align. The Archives go still, as if listening to whether Delfarius seals the breach or lets the hunger choose its own shape.
✓ Quest Accepted
Prevent the trapped echoes from breaking free
“I place the Star-cut Diamond in the bottom of one of the boxes. Then I use all of my power and might to draw all of the Tower's hunger up and free from the Seam. I place it equally in box Iron Boxes. I grit my teeth, this is taking effort.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -3)
The first box takes the diamond with a soft, brutal click. Delfarius’s hands drive it down into the dark felt of iron, and the shard bites stillness into place.
He hauls at the hunger next, pulling it up from the seam in a single grinding strain. The black script lashes in answer, then starts to drain inward, dragged toward the waiting boxes like smoke into a throat.
Repine bristles, shadow fur rippling as the pressure lifts. The hidden passage exhales once, then seals itself around the thinning tide.

Delfarius
It moves.
The last of the surge folds into the iron box, and the room’s pulse goes shallow. Delfarius’s grip shakes from the effort, one bright line of blood beading at his knuckles where the box edge has cut him.
The seam stays shut. The diamond dims, holding its prisoner steady, while the Archives settle into a wary hush around him.
For a breath, nothing moves except a buried catalogue shelf far off in the dark, its gold label catching the red light like a watching eye.

Prevent the trapped echoes from breaking free
“I close the box with the diamond in it first then place the closed Iron Box in the other Iron Box. I seal it shut, shutting the latches tight. I then take out my obsidian dagger and cut just enough to cause blood to drip on my finger. I mark a binding seal over the box. No one but me can ever open this box. Only one that shares my blood can cause the boxes with the sealed hunger and past pain of the old scars can open this box with another box inside of it.”
SUCCESS (Superb Arcana, rolled -1)

Delfarius sets the first box inside the second, and the nested iron answers with a dull, perfect fit. The latches bite down under his thumb, one after another, until the hunger is caged in iron within iron.
He draws the obsidian dagger and scores his finger just enough to wake a bead of blood. It hangs there, dark and eager, while the Archives hold their breath.
Delfarius marks the seal over the box. The blood thread takes, blackening into a binding sigil that locks to his will.
The nested lids shudder once, then go still. No stranger’s hand finds purchase on them now.

Repine
Safe.
Far off, the buried catalogue shelf keeps its watching gleam, and the mirror stall in the dark throws back a hungry glint the seal does not answer.
The chamber settles around the new law, quiet as a wound stitched closed. Then the living script beneath the floor twitches toward the far wall, as if something else in the Archives has noticed the blood.
✓ Quest Accepted
Secure the hunger in the nested iron seal
“I look over to the mirror I should have gotten all of the hunger. What is this little hunger in the mirror?”
SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +1)

Delfarius turns toward the mirror stall, and Repine feels the shift before the stone does. The red-glinted glass holds a pinprick of motion, a small hunger curled inside a larger one.

Delfarius
I should have taken all of it. What is that hunger in the mirror?
The reflection twitches at his voice, not breaking, only listening. The buried catalogue shelf keeps its dim, patient gleam behind it, as if the Archives are weighing whether to answer.

Repine
Small. Separate. Not gone.
The mirror’s surface puckers like skin over a hidden breath, and a thin seam of darkness turns inside the glass. It is not the sealed hunger below, but its leftover shard, clinging where the seal did not reach.
Repine lowers his head, eyes fixed on the flicker, while the living script beneath the floor tightens toward the wall. The little hunger has noticed Delfarius back.
In the mirror stall, the glint widens to the shape of a waiting mouth, and the chamber holds itself still for Delfarius’s next command.
“I sigh. I open the seal on the first box and pull this waiting mouth into the Iron Box. No hunger, no mouth, no past pain or anything. I made myself a vow. I will be without this pain. And so will my tower.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Delfarius presses his blood-marked hand to the first iron box. The binding sigil gives way with a soft, obedient crack, and the waiting mouth inside jerks toward him like a hooked fish.

Delfarius
The seal is weaker than the hunger.
He drags it inward, and the pale seam of the mirror-shard quivers, then folds after it. The little hunger is caught between iron walls and stripped of shape.
The mirror stall goes slack. The hungry glint dims, trapped now, and the buried catalogue shelf behind it loses its patient pulse.

Repine
Gone where it can be held.
Inside the open box, the darkness twists once, then settles under Delfarius's will. The floor-script beneath the Archives loosens its grip on the wall.
For a breath, the chamber feels lighter, but the iron gives a faint answering throb, as if something deep in the seal has noticed it is being commanded.

New Gift: Iron-Seal Binding Mastery
“I close the throb shut under the lid of the Iron Box I place the White Ribbon and the remaining bowl of ashes inside the Iron Box as well. I put a seal binding it to only be able to opened by me on the inner box with my dark Ink-Touched blood then closed the lid on the outer box and Reapply the binding it to only be able to opened by me.”
SUCCESS (Superb Arcana, rolled +2)
Delfarius lowers the white ribbon and the ash bowl into the inner iron box, and the chamber seems to tighten around the gesture. The false future’s last pulse catches, then is pinned beneath the lid as his blood wakes the seal.

Delfarius
He sets the binding for me alone.
Dark ink-touched blood threads over the inner box in a clean, exact pattern. The mark bites once, then settles, obedient and cold.
Delfarius folds the outer lid down. Iron meets iron with a final, hollow note, and the trapped throb is cut off inside.

Repine
Held.
The sealed box answers with one muted beat, then goes still. Around it, the Archive floor relaxes, and the mirror stall’s hungry glint fades to a tiny, useless spark.
Above, the buried catalogue shelf lies quiet at last, its pulse gone from the stone. The way forward is no longer a hunger, it is a lock.
“I rise from the crouch over the Iron boxes and look around. I sheath my dagger and smirk. I need to celebrate, I summon Nadron and Faelwen.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +3)

Delfarius rises from the crouch, the iron boxes now still at his feet. He sheaths the obsidian dagger with a quiet click and lets a satisfied smirk sharpen under the Archives' dim glow.
His gaze sweeps the chamber. The mirror stall keeps only a dull, trapped glint, and the buried catalogue shelf rests mute behind the settled stone.

Repine
Approved.
Delfarius lifts one hand and speaks the summons into the Archive's hush. The air answers first, folding inward with obedient dark.

Nadron
You call, and I come.

Faelwen
We are here, Delfarius.
Nadron and Faelwen step out of the dimness together, drawn straight to him as if the room itself has opened a door for their names.
The summoning settles without strain, and the iron seal beneath the floor gives one faint, pleased pulse, as though it recognizes who stands above it now.
“I pet Repine gently, "Time to go, friend. I need time alone with the pets." I go over to the bed and lay down, smirking with a lustful grin.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)
Delfarius’s hand settles into Repine’s shadowy fur, and the hound leans into the touch with a low, pleased stillness.

Delfarius
Time to go, friend. I need time alone with the pets.
Repine withdraws at once, circling toward the chamber’s edge as if the command itself has given him a place to wait.

Repine
Approved.
Delfarius turns from the sealed boxes and crosses to the bed, the Archives’ hush parting around him like disciplined cloth.
He eases down onto the covers with a predator’s grace, smirk deepening into something warmer and more dangerous.

Nadron
Do you want us close, or still?

Faelwen
We will follow your lead.
