Delfarius dresses and gestures for Future Delfarius to follow. Together they step onto the Obsidian Tower balcony, where clouds stream endlessly beneath the floating black stone.

Delfarius
What is wrong?
Future Delfarius watches him with unmistakable worry, his composed posture failing to hide the tension around his eyes. He remains near the balcony doors, giving Delfarius room while refusing to look away.

Future Delfarius
How did you damage your Void sight? And do not dismiss the question. I am worried the old hungers are returning, even if you insist you have them mastered.
Delfarius sighs, then lets his familiar smirk return. He leans over the balcony and looks down into the rushing clouds, leaving the question hanging between the open sky and the Tower’s dark walls.

Future Delfarius
You can hide behind that smile from everyone else if you like. I know what it looks like when you are deciding whether hunger is truly gone.
Below, the cloudbank parts for a moment, revealing distant sunlight across the world. Future Delfarius waits behind him, patient but visibly afraid of what answer the silence may contain.
“I turn back to my future self and tell him plainly, quietly as Chance sleeps on the bed inside of our bedchambers. "I came across a cult where they were trying to summon an elder god. I could not allow that, or them to exist here. No hunger. Well" I tilt my head to the side and smirk a bit darkly. "I did take their souls, I will release them to the cycle of rebirth eventually. And I did delight in their deaths. I will not deny that."”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled -1)
Chance sleeps undisturbed within the bedchamber. On the balcony, Delfarius turns back to Future Delfarius, lowering his voice until the Tower’s wind nearly carries it away.

Delfarius
I came across a cult trying to summon an elder god. I could not allow that, or them, to exist here. No hunger.
Delfarius tilts his head and lets a dark smirk touch his mouth. His admission remains quiet, stripped of spectacle, while the clouds stream beneath the balcony.

Delfarius
I did take their souls. I will release them to the cycle of rebirth eventually. And I delighted in their deaths. I will not deny that.

Future Delfarius
That is not the hunger returning. That is you confessing exactly what you chose, without dressing it up as necessity or pretending pleasure was absent.
Future Delfarius’s worry loosens, though it does not vanish. He steps nearer, studying the familiar dark curve of Delfarius’s smile and finding no hidden appetite beneath it.

Future Delfarius
I believe you. Keep the souls from becoming another chain, and I will believe you chose their ending rather than became its servant.
“"The over use of the chorus of our lifetimes and the void bit back." I let out a soft laugh as I gesture. "I met Chance in the crooked cafe with my eyes as black as the void and my voice sounding like an elder god myself." Future comes closer to me his concern dissolving into amusement as he asks me how that went.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +1)

Delfarius
The overuse of the chorus of our lifetimes and the Void bit back. I met Chance in the crooked café with my eyes black as the Void and my voice sounding like an elder god.
Delfarius lets out a soft laugh and gestures toward the clouds. Future Delfarius comes closer, his concern dissolving into amused curiosity as the balcony wind carries away the last tension.

Future Delfarius
And how did that go after you met Chance in the café? Did the elder-god voice frighten him, or did he decide it was simply another complication worth enjoying?

Delfarius
Chance noticed the black eyes and the layered voice, but he stayed. He accepted what I told him, and the meeting became music, laughter, and an invitation instead of a disaster.

Future Delfarius
So you arrived sounding like an elder god, admitted the Void had bitten back, and still left with his interest. That is remarkably like you.
Future Delfarius laughs quietly beside him, relief replacing the last of his worry. Below, the clouds stream past the Tower, and the confession settles as an absurdly successful story rather than a warning.
“I give him a soft bat of my hand. "Us so remarkably us." I say with a smirk.”

Delfarius
Us so remarkably us.
Delfarius gives Future Delfarius a soft, companionable bat of his hand, his smirk brightening as the balcony wind carries their shared laughter into the clouds.

Future Delfarius
Painfully, gloriously, and with an alarming consistency. I would object, but that would be remarkably unlike us.
Future Delfarius answers the bat with a light tap against Delfarius’s shoulder. The gesture is affectionate, effortless, and entirely free of the fear that had tightened his posture moments before.

Future Delfarius
The Void bit back, you laughed at it, and then you came home to tell me the story. That is exactly the sort of victory I expected from us.
Below them, the clouds stream past the floating Tower in silver rivers. For a moment, nothing demands investigation, conquest, or explanation. Their shared absurdity is enough.
“I look up at the stars for a moment then let out a long sigh. Future Delfarius understands I am shifting the tone of the conversation with the sigh. "It has been a odd few days as of late. Meeting Chance, talking it over with Morghain even though I was sure she was done with my nonsense. Having Chance and Morghain meet and talk around me like I was not there and just a witness to whatever the fuck our relationship will be." I open my eyes wide and look at Future with a bewildered expression. "I am not even sure what the fuck it is." I shake my head softly with an uncertain expression on my face. Future just laughs softly and remarks what he thinks of all that I just said. "Oh and Amama being back?!" I interrupt him as he just laughs at me and continues with what he thinks about everything.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +1)
Delfarius looks up at the stars, letting their cold brilliance stretch across the silence. A long sigh follows, deliberately shifting the balcony’s easy mood.

Delfarius
It has been an odd few days. Meeting Chance, talking everything over with Morghain even when I thought she was finished with my nonsense, and then having them meet and discuss our relationship as if I were only a witness. I do not even know what the fuck it is.
He opens his eyes wide at Future, bewilderment breaking through his usual smirk. Then he shakes his head softly, as though the question has become too large for any single answer.

Future Delfarius
It sounds like you have accidentally created several honest possibilities at once and are now offended that none of them arrived with a convenient name. Chance wants his own bond with you, Morghain wants hers, and both are curious about what they might become together.

Delfarius
Oh, and Amama being back?

Future Delfarius
Yes, Amama being back. That is hardly a minor detail. Your first creation returned as herself, chose independence, and still chose to remain connected to your world. Add that to Chance, Morghain, and your talent for making every emotional question resemble a cosmic negotiation, and I think confusion is the most reasonable response available to you.
“"Cultists I can understand. They want to gain power through a ceremony. Relationships with no hooks or alternative motives attached?" I shake my head realizing all my other relationships with beings that were closer to me in power have been a power play on one end or the other, besides the relationship I have with my selves. Future looks at me and puts his arm around my back holding me closer. He remarks how that would perplex him as well, though he offers what he thinks is viable advice in this instance.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +2)

Delfarius
Cultists I can understand. They want power through a ceremony. Relationships with no hooks or alternative motives attached?
Delfarius shakes his head as the pattern settles into focus: every powerful bond around him has carried leverage, danger, or a bargain, except the one shared by his selves.
Future Delfarius steps close and places an arm around his back, drawing him nearer without interrupting the reflection. Resonant True Self Awakened answers between them, recognizing concern without turning it into control.

Future Delfarius
That would perplex me as well. We are so accustomed to searching for the hidden blade that a hand offered without one feels suspicious.

Future Delfarius
My advice is simple: do not decide what these bonds are before they have had time to prove themselves. Ask what they choose when power gains them nothing, and believe the answer only when their choices keep agreeing.
Legendary Reasoning tests the advice against every remembered bargain, while Resonant True Self Awakened supplies the missing comparison: trust between his selves survives because neither must win. The distinction is clear at last.

Future Delfarius
You need not become less guarded. Just leave room for evidence that affection can be chosen without becoming a contest. If they fail that test, you will know. If they pass, you will still be free to choose.
“I look at him and we both remark "Hmm." Then both turn back and look inside where Chance is sleeping soundly. "If it was a race, he would be in the lead." I say to Future with a smirk. "He is the only one to ever give us a gift without asking for anything in return or expecting something in return." Future remarks on that and adds how much fun it was being with him and his looks. Chance is trying hard to pretend he is still asleep as he listens.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled -2)

Delfarius
Hmm.

Future Delfarius
Hmm.
They turn together toward the bedchamber. Chance lies beneath the rumpled blankets, breathing with suspiciously perfect steadiness while pretending sleep has claimed him completely.

Delfarius
If it was a race, he would be in the lead.

Future Delfarius
He is the only one who ever gave us a gift without asking for anything, or expecting anything, in return. And it was tremendous fun being with him. He has an unfairly beautiful face, too.
Chance’s breathing catches for half a heartbeat, then resumes its exaggerated rhythm. The praise has reached him, and the quiet admission leaves Delfarius’s affection plainly exposed.

Chance
I am asleep. Entirely asleep. I am also remembering every word, and I may never let him pretend this did not happen.
“I raise an eyebrow catching his thoughts and Future mimics my expression having caught them as well. I smirk then turn to Future and remark with a smirk. "But you have not met his twin sister. She is lovely and likes to judge like Asterin does. Maybe I should just let him think this is a real thing until I can charm up Charm." I say louder to Future with a growing mischievous grin. Future catches the joke and asks me how her breasts and ass looked because the personality is something we can always ignore. Chance will either fall for the bait and be upset or realize we caught him pretending.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Deception, rolled -2)

Delfarius raises an eyebrow as Chance’s thoughts betray the performance. Future Delfarius catches the same tell and mirrors the expression, their shared amusement sharpening into a quiet ambush.

Delfarius
But you have not met his twin sister. She is lovely and likes to judge like Asterin does. Maybe I should let him think this is real until I can charm up Charm.
Delfarius says it loudly enough for the bedchamber to carry. Hadrun’s Deception Insight finds the precise weakness in the performance, and Delfarius places the bait where Chance’s pride cannot ignore it.

Future Delfarius
How did her breasts and ass look? The personality is something we can always ignore.
Chance’s false breathing stops. He sits upright beneath the blankets, eyes narrowed and cheeks flushed, caught between outrage at the insult and the dawning realization that both Delfarii trapped him.

Chance
That was bait, and I fell for it. You caught me pretending, then made me listen to you reduce my sister to parts. I trust your cleverness less now, even if I still want you both.
“"You trust our cleverness less." I say gesturing towards his flustered and angry face. "But we caught you trying to pretend to not listen to us." Future laughs and remarks how that if anything shows how much of a mastermind clever we are.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Persuasion, rolled +1)

Delfarius
You trust our cleverness less. But we caught you trying to pretend not to listen to us.
Delfarius gestures toward Chance’s flustered, angry face, his smirk making the accusation unmistakably playful. Chance’s glare falters beneath the evidence of his interrupted performance.

Future Delfarius
That, if anything, proves how much of a mastermind we are. We caught him pretending not to listen, then baited him into confessing it himself.

Chance
You are both insufferably clever, and I dislike that the evidence supports you. I was listening, but I was also enjoying the performance.
Future laughs openly, and Delfarius’s victory settles between them without sharpness. Chance remains flushed and annoyed, though the corner of his mouth betrays reluctant amusement.

Future Delfarius
Then our cleverness has accomplished exactly what it intended. You were caught, you admit it, and you still want to stay.
“I sit down next to Chance and ruffle his hair then give him a kiss on his cheek. "Your sister is nice to look at, yes, but I find her judgement and wariness unattractive. You have no need to worry." Future leans down looking at Chance's flustered and upset face and laughs softly. "So that is what jealousy looks like on you?" He holds his hands out like he is framing a picture between his hands.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +3)

Delfarius sits beside Chance, ruffles his hair, and kisses his cheek. Future Delfarius leans over Chance’s flustered face, laughing softly while framing the scene with his hands.

Delfarius
Your sister is nice to look at, yes, but I find her judgment and wariness unattractive. You have no need to worry.

Future Delfarius
So that is what jealousy looks like on you? Delightful. I should have framed the moment before he started pretending indignation.

Chance
I was not jealous. I was evaluating whether my sister had somehow become more appealing than me. Your answer has made the evaluation unnecessary.
Chance’s annoyance dissolves beneath the kiss and reassurance. He catches Delfarius’s hand, presses it against his chest, and looks openly pleased rather than threatened.

Chance
For the record, I want you to return here whenever you choose. I will tell Charm myself that you are not being claimed away from me.

Future Delfarius
There. Reassured, invited, and given a witness willing to defend your place. Our diplomacy has achieved an unusually efficient victory.
“My smirk grows a bit darker and wider realizing that he too can be jealous, but only if it is directed at his sister. "Interesting you claim not being jealous. I take it your twin has used her wiles before to take love interests away from you?" Future looks at me a bit confused and watches the exchange. Chance realizes he said I was jealous yesterday when he arrived to meet up with me alone and tries to remark that I am being unfair. I interrupt him and smirk at him leaning in closer, "Jealously does suit you so fine, like a aged wine, but you can deny it all you want and debate fairness." I smirk at him smugly.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +2)

Delfarius
Interesting you claim not being jealous. Has your twin used her wiles before to take love interests away from you?
Delfarius’s smirk grows darker as Hadrun’s Deception Insight catches the contradiction beneath Chance’s denial and Legendary Diplomacy keeps the question playful. Future Delfarius watches, puzzled, as Chance realizes he accused Delfarius of jealousy when he came to meet him alone.

Chance
That is unfair. I called you jealous yesterday when I came to meet you alone, and now you are turning my own accusation back on me.
Chance’s protest exposes the very jealousy he tries to deny. Future’s confusion shifts into amusement as the trap closes without malice, leaving Chance only his fairness argument to defend.

Delfarius
Jealousy does suit you so fine, like aged wine, but you can deny it all you want and debate fairness.

Chance
Fine. Perhaps I was jealous, briefly, and only because it concerned Charm. But I can still debate whether you are being fair about enjoying this so much.
“Future puts his hands up like he is taking a picture then saying click like he just did. Chance looks at him confused and I just laugh. "You are adorable when you are flustered and that bad luck has turn it's side on you." I lean over and give him a warm kiss on his cheek. "I will not tease you any more, Chance." I raise my eyebrow at him and smirk wider. "For now at least."”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +0)

Future Delfarius raises both hands as though framing a portrait, then makes a sharp clicking sound. Chance stares at him in bafflement.
Delfarius breaks into laughter, and Chance’s confusion deepens as Future maintains an innocent expression, clearly pleased with his imaginary picture.

Delfarius
You are adorable when you are flustered, and that bad luck has turned its side on you.
Delfarius leans over and gives Chance a warm kiss on the cheek. The demi-god’s startled look softens, his irritation disarmed by the affection.

Delfarius
I will not tease you any more, Chance.

Delfarius
For now at least.

Chance
That was a suspiciously temporary promise, but I will accept the kiss as evidence of good intentions.
“Future laughs darkly pantomiming putting away his phone that took the picture away and says that hell is paved by good intentions. Chance looks at him confused not being familiar with the saying. I just join the dark laughter with Future. Chance remarks on how being with me will not be boring, if it is confusing and vague at some times.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled -1)
Future Delfarius laughs darkly and pantomimes folding away the vanished phone that captured the moment. His grin sharpens with theatrical satisfaction.

Future Delfarius
Hell is paved with good intentions.
Delfarius joins Future’s dark laughter, the shared mirth rolling across the balcony. Chance watches them both, bafflement overtaking his amusement.

Chance
I understood none of that. What is hell, and why is it paved with intentions? Is this another proverb I am expected to pretend makes sense?
Future’s shoulders shake harder, while Delfarius’s laughter makes the explanation feel deliberately out of reach. Chance folds his arms, trying and failing to look offended.

Chance
Being with you will not be boring. It may be confusing, vague, and filled with sayings nobody explains, but it will not be boring.
“I look at Future with a knowing look and he knows what I am saying with my expression and soft sigh afterwards without words. He remarks with fine and how he was wanting to get back to his own time anyways. Future crosses the space to where I am and gives me a long loving kiss then looks me in the eyes and tells me to remember what he told me and to follow the good advice he gave me for once. I laugh and watch as Future opens a portal to his time and leaves through it.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +0)

Delfarius gives Future a knowing look, followed by a soft sigh. The meaning passes between them without words, clear as any spoken farewell.

Future Delfarius
Fine. I was wanting to return to my own time anyway. You have more than enough advice to ignore for one evening.
Future crosses the balcony and closes the distance between them. He gathers Delfarius close with familiar tenderness, leaving the Tower wind to move around their joined silhouettes.

Future Delfarius
Remember what I told you. Follow the good advice I gave you for once, will you? It may even save us both considerable trouble.
Future gives Delfarius a long, loving kiss, then rests their foreheads together for a quiet breath. When he draws back, affection remains bright in his eyes.
Delfarius laughs as Future opens a portal to his own time. Violet light spills across the balcony, and Future steps through, smiling until the portal closes behind him.
“I shake my head then head back in and go sit down on the bed next to Chance. He looks at me with an amused expression wanting to ask about the advice but asks me if I will explain hell to him instead. I just look at him for a moment then laugh.”

Delfarius shakes his head, then turns from the balcony and returns to the bedchamber. He sits beside Chance, who watches him with an amused, expectant expression.

Chance
You are going to tell me about the advice, eventually. But first, will you explain what hell is?
Chance’s question hangs beneath the violet lamps, plainly chosen to lure Delfarius away from the more revealing subject. His grin remains bright, patient, and entirely unrepentant.
Delfarius studies him for a long moment without answering. Chance’s amused expression grows more cautious, as though he has realized the explanation may be stranger than the advice.
Then Delfarius laughs, the sound breaking through the quiet bedchamber. Chance blinks once before laughing too, accepting that the answer will not be simple.

Chance
That is not an explanation, but I suppose it confirms that hell is either very complicated or very funny.
Chance settles back against the pillows beside him, still smiling. The question about Future’s advice remains safely postponed, while the room holds their shared amusement.
“I shake my head then rest my head on Chance's chest. "Go back to sleep, then when we both wake in the morning we can discuss theology of the future if you want." I say amused as I feel Chance get more confused.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +2)
Delfarius shakes his head, then rests it against Chance’s chest. The demi-god goes still beneath him, confusion flickering across his face as the Tower’s violet lamps soften around them.

Delfarius
Go back to sleep, then when we both wake in the morning we can discuss theology of the future if you want.

Chance
Theology of the future? You cannot say that and expect me to sleep without wondering whether the future has priests.
Chance’s confusion deepens, but his arms settle around Delfarius instead of resisting the absurd promise. He accepts the invitation to rest, choosing curiosity tomorrow over questions tonight.

Chance
Fine. I will sleep now, and in the morning you can explain future theology before I decide whether it deserves worship or mockery.
Chance closes his eyes and eases back into the pillows, keeping Delfarius against his chest. The bedchamber grows quiet, and the promise of a morning conversation remains safely postponed until they wake.
