The portal delivers Delfarius, Pistol, Stabby McStabbson, Repine, Cox, and Rocket into a crowded hall of mismatched stone and timber. Charms flicker unpredictably above adventurers trading rumors.

Pistol

Pistol

Sweets! I found the safest place already!

Pistol darts toward a crowded refreshment table, Cox perched on her wrist and Rocket clinging to her shoulder. Purple sparks skip harmlessly across the hanging charms.

Stabby McStabbson prowls between benches, inspecting every belt pouch within reach. Repine follows Delfarius closely, while unfamiliar magic makes his blue eyes narrow.

Stabby McStabbson

Stabby McStabbson

Pouch! Pouch! Stabby inspect. Maybe treasure. Maybe snacks.

A young half-orc woman notices the unusual map glowing in Pistol’s hands. Teal hair frames her alert face as she approaches, one hand resting near her travel gear.

Vrsha

Vrsha

That map is not from any guide I know. I am Vrsha, and I am trying to make a name in Tremble. What kind of expedition brought you here?

I look down at Repine and tell him without words that it is okay for him to fold into my shadow. He does so unseen from the mortal eyes. I sigh. I am a mortal man to mortal eyes and mortal senses. I smirk looking over to who Pistol is talking to. I always liked the color teal. Pistol tells Vrsha about the map and me and Cox and Rocket and Stabby. I chuckle and Vrsha catches the adult jokes with her Rocket that hides in her pocket and that Cox is black and sometimes is big.

Delfarius looks down, and Repine understands the silent permission. The shadow hound folds soundlessly into his master’s darkness, unseen by mortal eyes and senses.

Delfarius sighs, settles himself into the guise of an ordinary mortal man, and turns with a smirk toward Pistol and the teal-haired adventurer. He has always liked teal.

Pistol

Pistol

This is Delfarius! He has the map, and he brought Stabby, Repine, Cox, and Rocket. Repine is hiding right now.

Pistol

Pistol

Rocket is my squirrel, and Cox is his mysterious cousin. Cox is black, and sometimes he gets really big. Rocket hides in my pocket, too, but she is smaller.

Delfarius chuckles at the innocent explanation. Vrsha catches the adult joke beneath it, glancing from Pistol’s pocket to the little black squirrel with sudden amusement.

Vrsha

Vrsha

I see. The joke is clearly not hers yet. Still, that is quite an introduction. I am Vrsha, and I would like to hear about this map.

Stabby McStabbson

Stabby McStabbson

Map lead treasure! Stabby inspect city. Stabby become mayor. Maybe pouch mayor too.

I raise an eyebrow and look to Vrsha. "Nice to meet you, and this is just a map I found in an old dusty crypt. It is not mine. I just thought Pistol and Stabby would find it more useful." I am a mortal man to mortal eyes and mortal senses. I smile, charmingly at Vrsha.

Nice to meet you, Vrsha. This is just a map I found in an old, dusty crypt. It is not mine. I thought Pistol and Stabby would find it more useful.

Delfarius raises an eyebrow and smiles with effortless charm. The crowded hall’s shifting lights catch his ordinary mortal guise, while the map glows innocently in Pistol’s hands.

Vrsha

Vrsha

An old crypt relic, then? That explains the strange roads and the lack of any proper cartographer’s seal. You have my thanks for putting it to better use.

Vrsha studies his smile, then the children and their small companions. Her suspicion loosens, replaced by professional curiosity and the unmistakable interest of an adventurer hearing about unexplored ground.

Vrsha

Vrsha

Tremble has plenty of forgotten places, but maps from crypts rarely point toward safe roads. If you are allowing them to explore, perhaps I can offer guidance.

Stabby McStabbson

Stabby McStabbson

Vrsha know treasure roads? Stabby listen. Stabby become mayor faster.

Pistol hugs the map closer, beaming. Vrsha laughs softly at Stabby’s declaration, now fully accepting the relic’s harmless story and regarding Delfarius as a charming, unusually generous traveler.

I raise my eyes from Vrsha's chest to her teal eyes and smile more charmingly. "Well I am sure these two will welcome any sort of." I let my words trail as I smile coyly at Vrsha. "Assistance you can offer." I am a mortal man to mortal eyes and mortal senses.

Vrsha

Vrsha

I believe I can offer quite a bit, if your companions are willing to listen. Tremble’s eastern quarter has an old wayhouse beneath it, and its entrance is safely marked.

Vrsha steps nearer, her professional curiosity softened by unmistakable interest. She gestures toward the glowing map, already treating the expedition as a shared opportunity rather than a stranger’s errand.

Stabby McStabbson

Stabby McStabbson

Why don't you two go and see if there is any gear we might need before we take off.

Pistol brightens and hurries after Cox, Rocket peeking from her pocket. Stabby McStabbson follows at once, rummaging among packs and loudly declaring each buckle potential treasure.

Stabby McStabbson

Stabby McStabbson

Gear! Stabby inspect best gear. Mayor need excellent gear!

With the pair distracted, Delfarius walks closer to Vrsha beneath the hall’s shifting charms. To mortal eyes he remains only a composed traveler, his smirk quietly inviting.

Delfarius

Delfarius

Have you been in Tremble long? Do you have a room in the adventurers’ guild here?

Vrsha

Vrsha

Long enough to learn which streets bite and which merely lie. I have a room at the adventurers’ guild, though I would not object to company with better manners than most explorers.

My smirk grows wider and I let my eyes linger over Vrsha and then say softly, coyly to her, "And how well are you at exploring new heights and depths, hmm?" I am a mortal man to mortal eyes and mortal senses, a horny charming mortal man.

Vrsha

Vrsha

Well enough to know that the best discoveries rarely stay on the surface. I am quite capable with heights, depths, and whatever lies between them.

Vrsha steps closer, lowering her voice while Pistol and Stabby remain occupied among the packs. Her hand rests lightly against the map’s edge, near Delfarius’s sleeve.

Vrsha

Vrsha

If you are asking whether I can guide you somewhere private before the expedition, traveler, the answer is yes. I know a quiet room upstairs.

Across the hall, Cox darts beneath a rack, drawing Pistol’s delighted pursuit, while Stabby argues with a pack buckle. Vrsha’s eyes remain fixed on Delfarius.

Vrsha

Vrsha

But tell me, mysterious map-bearer, are you brave enough to follow a guide who might make the journey more interesting than the destination?

Vrsha

Vrsha

Your companions can finish gathering supplies. We will only be a little while, unless you make the destination especially persuasive.

Across the room, Pistol laughs as Cox emerges from beneath the gear rack, and Stabby loudly claims a brass buckle as mayoral equipment. Neither looks toward the stairs.

Vrsha

Vrsha

Vrsha

The wayhouse entrance has a second door beneath the eastern hearth. I found it yesterday, but prudence suggests exploring it with capable company.

Vrsha opens a cedar door into a warm, private room marked with faded expedition notes. Its warding charm seals softly behind them, while a brass sandglass begins measuring their promised half hour.

Vrsha

Vrsha

Vrsha

You kiss exceptionally well, traveler. Dangerous well. I may have to revise my estimate of what sort of expedition you represent.

Downstairs, Cox’s shadow-buckles clatter as Pistol and Stabby continue their noisy search. The ward keeps the room private, and the sandglass steadily marks their borrowed half hour.

"Perhaps?" I say amused as I take off my robes and stand in only my black silk pants in front of her. I look to the sandglass and smirk. "A quickie then, hmm?" I am a mortal man to mortal eyes and mortal senses, an incredibly sexy mortal man. Vrsha laughs and lays down on her bed.

She draws him down with a confident hand. The sandglass continues its quiet turning while their hurried intimacy unfolds behind the sealed ward, warm laughter mingling with the muffled clatter downstairs.

Without disturbing the disguise, Delfarius reaches into the pocket of void he keeps concealed and draws out his multicolored mod vape. Its shifting colors glow softly in his hand.
