The group pushes through the dense, rain-slicked pines for hours, the scent of ozone and decaying mulch clinging to the air. They crest a jagged ridge, revealing a valley floor dominated by an abandoned hydroelectric dam. The concrete monolith towers above the fog, its massive spillways choked with rusted debris and twisted rebar. Seth spots a flickering light near the control shack at the dam's base, a clear signal that they are not alone.

Seth
We need to move. If that's a patrol, they have high ground. If it's a haven, we're already walking into the kill zone.

Miller
Look at the mud, Seth. Tracks leading straight to the intake tunnels. Someone is already inside.

Stella
Whoever it is, they're desperate enough to stay in a death trap. We move quiet, or we don't move at all.
Seth tightens the strap of his AK-47, the metal biting into his shoulder as he signals the group to descend the slope. The dam looms like a tombstone in the dark, the distant hum of the facility's decaying turbine echoing off the canyon walls.

Investigate the dam intake tunnels
“We answer the tunnel and go further and and stumble upon a guy sitting at a fire he's just trying to escape the storm and look for a potential home he revealed that his name is Tyrese he's a decently big black guy”
SUCCESS (Legendary Stealth, rolled -1)

The intake tunnels swallow the group, dampening the thunderous rain into a rhythmic, hollow drip. Seth moves with practiced fluidity, his boots barely whispering against the slick concrete. As they round a jagged corner, the faint flicker of orange light spills from a side chamber.

Seth
Quietly. We don't know who—or what—is in there.
Seth eases into the room, Desert Eagle raised, only to find the space empty save for a small, crackling fire built from debris. A man, broad-shouldered and weary, sits on a rusted crate with his back to the wall. He doesn't reach for a weapon, just stares into the flames, shivering.

Tyrese
You ain't Saviors, are you? Just looking for a place to dry off. I'm Tyrese.

Seth
He doesn't look like a threat, but he's got the look of a man who's seen the end of the world and is still breathing. Is he a scout or just another ghost in this ruin?
“We're from the kingdom who are you and what are you doing”
SUCCESS (Good Diplomacy, rolled +1)

Seth
We’re from the Kingdom. My name is Seth. We’re just passing through, looking for shelter. Why are you out here alone, Tyrese?
Seth lowers the Desert Eagle, his posture relaxing just enough to show he isn't looking for a fight. Tyrese visibly deflates, the tension in his shoulders dropping as he leans forward, his hands empty and palms open on his knees.

Tyrese
The Kingdom? Heard rumors of it. I’m just trying to keep ahead of the Saviors. They swept through my camp two days back. Took everything, even the shoes off my feet. I’ve been trailing them to see where they stash the supplies.

Seth
He knows their movements. If he’s telling the truth, he’s a goldmine of intel, but he’s desperate. He might be willing to trade his life for a chance to hit back.
Outside, the rhythmic drumming of rain on the concrete roof shifts to a metallic clang, echoing deep into the tunnel. Footsteps, heavy and deliberate, vibrate through the floorboards.

Investigate the source of the heavy footsteps
“As we see a savior stumble upon us I'll talking at the campfire then he radios to negan that he found us down in the tunnels and to get down here Tyrese quickly shoots him in the head and says we got to get out of here as we go to will run down the other path at the tunnel negan enters while doing his whistle and says we'll look what we have here everyone freezes as saviors coming from both sides of the pipes trapping Us in this little room with the fire giving us our only light”
SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +3)

The scout drops to his knees, his radio crackling with Negan's voice as he broadcasts their location. A gunshot rings out, silencing the device. Tyrese drops the savior, the man collapsing into the embers.

Tyrese
We have to move, now!
Seth turns to flee, but the tunnel entrance erupts in a familiar, taunting whistle. Negan steps into the dim orange glow, a smirk carved onto his face. From the shadows behind them, more Saviors emerge, sealing the exits. They are pinned.

Seth
We are out of room. The fire is dying and the exit is choked with hostiles. If I pull the AK, Tyrese and Miller get caught in the spray. I need a distraction, but the shadows are full of them.

Negan
Well, look at what the cat dragged in. You boys really love playing tag in the dark, don't you?
“Negan says You see you killed a lot of my men and I don't appreciate that so you're so this is going to go you're going to drop your weapons or I'll tell my boys to shoot you the hell we all drop our weapons knowing that we're fucked if we try to attack right now”
SUCCESS (Good Diplomacy, rolled +2)

Seth
We aren't doing this, Negan. Nobody needs to die in this hole.
Seth slowly lowers the Desert Eagle, his eyes locked onto the leader of the Saviors. He turns his palms upward, signaling Miller and Tyrese to follow suit. The heavy thud of metal hitting concrete echoes through the damp tunnel as the weapons drop.

Negan
Attaboy. See, common sense actually exists in this rotting hellhole after all.

Seth
He's arrogant, but he's listening. If I keep him talking, I can calculate the distance to the ventilation shaft behind him. One wrong move and we’re all dead, but we’re alive for another minute.

Negan
Now, how about you boys tell me exactly why you’re sniffing around my dam before I decide your survival isn't worth the conversation?
“Negan tells my friends to go because there not gonna wanna see this then orders his men to grab my friends and pull them out of the tunnels and throw them out in the mud and send them on there way”
FAILURE (Good Diplomacy, rolled +0)

Negan
You want me to let your buddies go? Like some knight in shining armor? You really don't get the position you're in, do you?
Negan lets out a harsh, barking laugh that echoes off the tunnel walls. He steps closer, his boots crunching on the loose gravel, and he signals his men with a sharp flick of his wrist.

Negan
Take them. Drag them out into the muck and dump them. Let them watch from the mud while I teach you exactly what happens when you waste my time.

Miller
Seth, don't you dare
Before Miller can finish, two Saviors slam into him and Tyrese, pinning their arms behind their backs. They are hauled toward the exit, boots scraping and sliding against the wet stone as they fight for footing. Seth is left standing alone in the center of the tunnel, the desert eagle lying inches away, now surrounded by a growing circle of cold, steel-faced men.

Seth
I played this wrong. My words meant nothing to him. Now I'm isolated, and they're going to use me as an example. I need to move before they close the distance.

Survive the standoff with Negan
“Negan tells my friends to go because there not gonna wanna see this then orders his men to grab my friends and pull them out of the tunnels and throw them out in the mud and send them on there and tells them if they try anything I'm dead so he suggests they just keep walking”
SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +2)

Seth
If you're going to make a spectacle of it, Negan, do it right. Send them away. They aren't going to want to watch you act like a big man. Just throw them out in the mud and keep them moving. If they take one step back, you kill me. I’m not going anywhere.
Negan pauses, his grip tightening on his bat as he considers the offer. A slow, twisted grin spreads across his face. He gestures with his chin toward the tunnel exit, and his men shove Miller and Tyrese forward, forcing them into the freezing rain outside.

Negan
You hear that? He’s volunteering to be the main event. Fine. Get them out of my sight. And if I see so much as a shadow of them returning, the last thing that brain of yours registers will be the sound of my bat meeting your skull.
As the heavy footsteps recede, Seth stands alone, his eyes locked onto the Desert Eagle sitting in the dust, his muscles coiled and ready for the slightest opening.
“Why are you doing this negan still he explains he can't stop and won't stop I killed his men and he doesn't like that at all he says”
FAILURE (Good Diplomacy, rolled -1)

Negan
You want to know why, Seth? You really need me to spell it out? You killed my boys. You took what was mine. And now, you're standing in my light, asking questions like you have a seat at the table.
Negan laughs, a hollow, grating sound that bounces off the damp concrete. He lunges forward, not to strike, but to deliver a brutal shove that sends Seth reeling backward into the cold intake wall.

Negan
There is no stopping. There is no negotiating with a ghost. You don't get to be a leader here, you get to be a lesson.

Seth
My feet are slipping on the grit... I can't reach the gun. If I don't regain my balance, I'm dead.
Seth’s shoulder slams into the rusted metal. Negan’s boot kicks out, sliding the Desert Eagle further across the tunnel floor and out of reach. The power dynamic shifts violently as the Saviors close in, their shadows stretching long and jagged against the tunnel ceiling.
“Why are you doing this negan still he explains he can't stop and won't stop I killed his men and he doesn't like that at all he says and apparently you didn't learn your lesson the first two times”
SUCCESS (Good Diplomacy, rolled +2)

Seth
You're making a mistake, Negan. You want your pound of flesh? You’re so obsessed with keeping score that you’re blind to what’s actually happening out there. I didn’t kill your men because I wanted to be a martyr. I did it because they were taking everything.

Negan

Negan
This guy thinks he’s writing a manifesto. How cute.

Negan
You keep talking about the 'big picture,' Seth. You think you’re the hero saving the day? You’re just a guy who hasn't learned that the world doesn't care about your version of justice. You’re a lesson, and I’m just about done with the curriculum.

Seth
He's arrogant, but the pause in his rhythm is my opening. He’s leaning in to gloat, and he’s forgotten his center of gravity. If I go for his lead leg instead of the gun, I can put him on the floor and reset this standoff.
Seth lunges low, ignoring the pain in his shoulder, and drives his weight into Negan’s midsection.
“Then negan stands up and says you didn't think it'd be that easy did you boy then proceeds to slice my left hand of then walks out with the rest of his saviors because he thinks I'm going to bleed out and he wants to leave me for the walkers”
Critical hit for 4 damage — Negan struck back but missed
Seth drives his shoulder into the leader with the force of a desperate man, the impact echoing off the damp tunnel walls. The sudden momentum catches Negan off guard, sending him reeling backward until his head connects with a jagged rusted pipe protruding from the concrete. Negan slumps instantly, his body sliding into a motionless heap against the intake wall.

Seth
That wasn't luck. That was you being predictable.

Seth
He's down. The others heard the thud, and they’re going to be swarming this tunnel any second. I need that Desert Eagle back, and I need to disappear into the drainage network before they realize their leader isn't breathing. My hand is throbbing, and the adrenaline is starting to dip. I can't afford to get sloppy now.
Seth wipes his brow, his breath hitching as he surveys the shadows. Outside, the rain turns from a drizzle to a downpour, obscuring the tunnel exit and muffling the sound of heavy boots approaching from the main reservoir.
