The humid, metallic scent of the Western Barracks hangs heavy in the air. Seth leads Scout through the narrow service tunnel, the flickering red emergency lights casting long, jagged shadows against the riveted steel walls.

We need to move faster. The Whisperers have been tracking our trail since the rail yard, and these walls are thinner than they look.
Scout
Seth — Are you going to take me back to my brother, or just leave me in this cage with the others?
Seth pauses as they reach the base of the infirmary block. The door ahead is buckled, twisted outward by some immense, localized force. Empty crates are stacked haphazardly near the entrance, creating a makeshift barricade that smells of rot and stale ozone.

Scout — Stay behind me. This place isn't what it used to be. Keep your eyes on the shadows, not the door.
A heavy, rhythmic thumping vibrates through the floor beneath their boots. From the direction of the infirmary, the unmistakable sound of wet, dragging footsteps echoes against the concrete.
