Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat

The wind howls through the gaps in the watchtower, carrying the scent of damp pine and wood rot. Seth grips the cold iron railing, his knuckles white against the grey sky. From this height, the Kingdom looks small and fragile, a cluster of flickering lights surrounded by a sea of impenetrable forest.

Seth

Seth

The King wants a soldier, but he is going to get a butcher if the Saviors keep pushing. Every light I see down there represents a life that Negan thinks he owns. Not for long.

Scout walks toward the trapdoor, her boots thudding against the floorboards. She stops, adjusting the strap of her rifle as she catches Seth looking out toward the horizon.

Scout

Scout

Seth, the eastern patrol is late. I think the breach in the lower tunnels might be worse than we thought.

Seth

Seth

If the tunnels are compromised, our supply line is gone. I need to move before the patrol gets intercepted.

Seth turns, his expression hardening as he surveys the horizon for the telltale smoke of a Savior camp.

Investigate the eastern patrol delay

Scout I want you and Sasha and Stella to stick together and tell everyone to get their weapons ready as we see alpha with a herd behind her coming over the hill on the horizon I yell down in order everyone to get their weapons ready and get the explosives and get people on the wall

SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +1)

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat
Seth

Seth

Move, now! Scout, get Sasha and Stella to the wall! Everyone, arm up! We have a breach coming over the northern ridge!

Seth points a gloved finger toward the horizon, where a sprawling, undulating shadow emerges from the treeline. It is not just the dead; it is a sea of them, led by a figure in a mask of dead skin. Alpha has arrived, and she has brought the apocalypse with her.

Seth

Seth

She wants a war. I will give her the hell she is looking for.

Scout

Scout

Holy... is that a herd?

Seth

Seth

It is an army. Tell the King to prep the explosives. If they hit the walls, we bring the whole hillside down on them!

The alarm bells begin to toll, a frantic, rhythmic clang that cuts through the biting wind. Below, the Kingdom stirs, a disorganized flurry of movement turning into a defensive line. Seth pulls his AK-47 from his back, checking the chamber with cold, mechanical precision.

Defend the Kingdom from the approaching horde

Alpha

Alpha

Your reckoning is finally here. They are ready for you, Seth.

Seth

Seth

You think a few thousand corpses and a mask made of rot scare me? You are nothing but a scavenger feeding on the scraps of a world that left you behind!

Seth

Seth

My attempt to rattle her failed. She doesn't even flinch. She is not afraid of the gun or the steel, she is counting on my rage to make me reckless. I need to keep my head or this wall becomes a tomb.

Alpha tilts her head, a slow, predatory movement, ignoring the desperate gunfire erupting from the lower parapets. She doesn't raise a weapon. She doesn't even move to cover. She simply gestures toward the sea of teeth and gore currently smashing against the Kingdom’s outer defenses. The sheer mass of the horde begins to buckle the wooden reinforcements, sending splintered debris flying into the freezing air.

Scout

Scout

Seth, the main gate is giving way! What are your orders?

As alpha steps forward looks up to me and says you're reckoning is finally come

SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +1)

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat
Seth

Seth

Fall back to the secondary barricade! Scout, get the heavy timber support from the gatehouse and wedge it under the crossbeam. If that gate goes, we funnel them into the courtyard and bottleneck the bastards!

Seth

Seth

The wood is screaming. One good push from the weight of that mass and the frame snaps. I can see Alpha’s grin through the gaps in the shifting, rotting swarm. She is watching me wait for the collapse, betting on the panic.

The gate groans, a sound like tortured metal and snapping sinew, as the pressure from the outside horde surges. Dust plumes from the overhead rafters, and a heavy iron bolt near the gate’s hinge shears off, zipping past Seth’s head like a bullet. The courtyard below is already a swirling vortex of panicked defenders trying to rally, while the northern ridge disappears behind a dense, suffocating wall of gray mist and encroaching dead.

Scout

Scout

We won't hold the secondary line for long, Seth! What about the signal fire?

I scream to everyone and told them to open fire

SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +0)

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat
Seth

Seth

Open fire! Aim for the leaders, keep the pressure off the gate! Do not let them catch their breath!

Seth’s voice cuts through the chaos like a whip crack. The line of defenders along the wall pivots as one, their rifles erupting in a coordinated thunderous volley. The sheer volume of lead creates a wall of fire that shreds the front line of the horde, turning the encroaching mass into a churning meat grinder of rot and bone.

Seth

Seth

The suppression is working. For a second, the horde staggers, unable to advance against the wall of bullets. It gives the men the room they need to breathe, but I see Alpha shifting. She isn't retreating. She's counting our rounds.

Scout

Scout

The signal fire, Seth! If we light it now, the neighboring patrols will see the position of the breach!

The gate groans again, a long, rhythmic shriek of tortured steel as a heavy section of the frame buckles outward. A massive, decayed shoulder presses through the gap, followed by a hundred more.

Light it now Abraham stick with me

SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +0)

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat
Seth

Seth

Do it! Light the signal fire now, Scout! And you, grab that torch! We aren't dying in the dark today!

Seth shoves a flare into the Scout's hands, his boots sliding across the blood-slicked stone as he pivots. He kicks a pile of dry kindling into the brazier, igniting the soaked rags with a single, brutal strike of his lighter. The signal fire roars to life, a pillar of orange heat cutting through the suffocating mist.

Seth

Seth

The flames are bright, but the gate is screaming. The metal is folding like paper. Alpha’s dead weight is pressing in from the outside, and the perimeter won't hold another minute.

Scout

Scout

The signal is lit, but the western wall is buckling under the pressure! What is our next move?

Outside the gates, the horde surges. A massive iron strut snaps, sending sparks showering into the freezing air. The breach is no longer a gap, it is a throat, and the dead are pouring through it.

The alert signal is up now the other communities from around us know we need help and send some patrols to take the horde from the side as our people from the kingdom are shooting arrows throwing molotovs and makeshift grenades and shooting guns at them from over the wall

SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +0)

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat

The horizon ripples with the arrival of reinforcements. From the tree line, coordinated flashes of muzzle fire emerge as distant patrols flank the horde, drawing the undead tide away from the crumbling gate.

Seth

Seth

Don't let up! Keep the pressure on! If we hold the line, we buy them the space they need to finish this!

Seth levels his AK-47, his jaw set in a grim line. Beside him, the Kingdom’s archers launch a volley of flaming arrows that arc high through the mist, raining down upon the exposed necks of the encroaching swarm. The deafening roar of the signal fire mixes with the percussive thud of makeshift grenades detonating among the dense rows of the dead.

Seth

Seth

It's working. The horde is splitting. The flanks are exposed and the patrols are pushing them into the kill zone.

Scout

Scout

They're turning, Seth! The dead are shifting toward the fire! Should we move to the secondary barricade?

You go scout go find a safer spot and find Abraham and send him my way and tell him I need him

SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +0)

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat
Seth

Seth

Fall back to the secondary line, Scout! Find Abraham. Tell him the breach is bought, but I need his heavy hitters on the north flank now. Go!

Scout

Scout

Understood! Don't get yourself buried out here!

The Scout vanishes into the swirling mist, boots crunching over the scorched earth. Seth pivots, his boots grinding into the slick mud as he shifts his stance to cover the gap. He plants his feet, shouldering his AK-47. The rhythmic, guttural moans of the dead amplify as they realize their path is contested. A stray grenade detonates near the perimeter, sending a plume of black smoke and jagged scrap metal spiraling into the air. Seth tracks the movement of the thickest knot of walkers, his eyes narrowing as he sights down the barrel, waiting for the perfect window to unleash another disciplined burst of suppressive fire.

Seth

Seth

If Abraham gets here in time, we don't just hold. We turn this slaughterhouse back on them.

Abraham then comes up running and says what do you need Seth well holding m16 and rpg on his back

SUCCESS (Good Diplomacy, rolled +1)

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat
Abraham

Abraham

You called for the big guns, Seth! I’ve got the heavy hitters right behind me. What’s the play? We hold this line or do we push them back to hell?

Seth

Seth

We push. Get that RPG primed on the ridge cluster, Abraham. If we take out the lead pack, the rest lose their focus.

Abraham skids to a halt beside the barricade, his M16 already spitting controlled rounds into the oncoming throng. The RPG is slung tight across his broad back, a promise of devastation. His arrival shifts the air, the desperation of the defense replaced by a sharp, tactical precision. Seth nods once, his grip tightening on his AK-47. The mist swirls violently, torn by the concussive force of the Kingdom's defensive fire.

Seth

Seth

He showed up just in time. If we hit the center of that pack now, we break their momentum.

Abraham shoots the RPG run into the middle of the heard of zombies messing them up a lot and lighting half of them on fire as the patrols from the other groups come and start killing the heard from the outside of the walls

Critical hit for 5 damageZombie 1 is down

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat
Abraham

Abraham

Target acquired! Taking the shot, Seth!

Abraham braces his stance, the RPG tube resting steady on his shoulder. He pulls the trigger, and a streak of fire tears through the misty air. The warhead slams into the heart of the northern swarm with a deafening, chest-rattling roar. A massive blossom of orange flame and black smoke erupts, incinerating the lead walkers and sending charred, burning limbs flying into the mud. The shockwave ripples outward, knocking the front rank flat. Through the swirling debris, incoming patrols from the allied settlements emerge like ghosts, their blades and rifle fire carving into the disorganized remains of the horde from the flanks. The tide is finally turning, but the smell of ozone and burnt rot chokes the air.

Seth

Seth

That was the opening we needed. If we keep the pressure on, we might actually hold this gate until dawn.

Then out of nowhere beta bodyguard and right hand tackles Abraham and they have a brutal brawl well I start taking out some zombies that came around me

Critical hit for 7 damageZombie 2 is down

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat

A shadow surges from the smoke as Beta slams into Abraham, driving him into the churned earth. The massive brute pins the soldier, his fingers tightening like iron bands around Abraham’s throat. Seth ignores the scream of his own lungs, pivoting his body to face a encroaching walker. He swings the butt of his AK 47 in a brutal arc, the heavy polymer stock shattering the skull of the undead creature before it can lunge. The creature collapses into the mud, lifeless before it hits the ground.

Seth

Seth

If Abraham goes down, the command structure collapses with him. I have to break this grip.

Seth levels his Desert Eagle, but the brawl between the two giants creates a shifting wall of limbs that makes a clean shot impossible. Beta snarlingly forces Abraham’s head into the dirt, ignoring the chaos of the battlefield around them.

I try to help him melee fight beta as he puts up a fight against both of us but we eventually get the upper hand and Abraham snaps betas neck In pure anger turning beta's head in a complete different direction completely shattering every bone in his neck and killing him instantly

Critical hit for 4 damageBeta struck back for 6 damage

Watchtower Vigil and Impending Threat

Seth lunges, slamming his heavy boot into Beta’s ribs with a sickening crack, followed by a crushing strike from his rifle butt that forces the giant to loosen his grip. Abraham gasps, gasping for air, but the respite is short lived. Beta roars, a primal sound of pure hatred, and swings a massive fist that catches Seth squarely in the jaw. The force sends Seth reeling backward into the mud, stars exploding in his vision as the taste of copper floods his mouth.

Seth

Seth

My jaw is shattered, but I am still standing. I cannot let him get back up.

As Seth stumbles, he lunges again, his fingers locking onto the collar of the giant's leather coat. Abraham surges upward, his face a mask of primal fury, and together they twist the brute with violent, synchronized force. A wet, final snap echoes over the roar of the fire as Beta goes limp, his head lolling at an unnatural angle into the cooling mud. The giant is silent, but the horde still presses against the secondary barricade, their groans growing louder as they sense the commander has fallen.

I fall back into the kingdom to take cover and heal myself and the groups along with my group and the people that were training finally all stick together and work together to fight the remaining dead outside of our walls as alpha is forced to retreat

SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled -2)

Seth signals with a sharp wave, and the Kingdom’s defenders surge forward. They form a wall of interlocking shields and spears, turning the secondary barricade into a fortress of steel. The remaining walkers, sensing the loss of their champion, falter and break against the synchronized formation.

Seth

Seth

The giant is down. Now we finish the work.

Alpha catches sight of the tide turning. She lets out a sharp, piercing whistle that slices through the chaotic din of the battlefield. The walkers immediately lose their cohesion, drifting away from the wall like shadows retreating from the dawn. She lingers for a heartbeat, her eyes burning into Seth’s from the edge of the mist, before turning and vanishing into the grey.

Seth

Seth

Fall back! Get the wounded inside and secure the perimeter. We hold this ground until the sun hits the stones!

The defenders tighten their ranks, pushing the scattered undead back into the forest. With the immediate threat neutralized, Seth turns toward the inner gates, clutching his side as the adrenaline begins to ebb.
