Seth leaves the smoldering debris of the inner gate behind, marching through the narrow, grime-streaked alleyways of the lower districts. The air here is thick with the scent of wet ash and stagnant water. He stops before a crumbling municipal warehouse, its windows shattered and walls covered in desperate, hand-painted warnings. This is the heart of the decay he has been tasked to purge.

Seth
This place is a graveyard of wasted potential. If I can clear these streets, the Kingdom might actually stand a chance.
He kicks the rusted side door open, his AK-47 leveled at the darkness. The interior is vast, dominated by rows of rotting shelving units and pools of oily liquid. A sudden, rhythmic dragging sound echoes from the far end of the warehouse, followed by the low, guttural snarl of something trapped in the gloom.

Seth
Too many blind spots. Miller, stay close, watch the rafters.
He signals for Miller to move toward the western wall while he edges along the primary supply aisle. The shadows seem to pulse with hidden movement as the source of the noise—a half-turned worker clutching a pipe—emerges into a sliver of moonlight.
“As we slowly fast forward In the story a few days we have been working on the lower part and made it a lot better and we even have houses with residents inside of them and some guards patrolling the streets and watching over the walls”
FAILURE (Legendary Construction, rolled -3)

Days of grueling labor pass. Seth and Miller focus on the lower districts, reinforcing structures and establishing a perimeter.

Seth
It is not perfect. The structural integrity of the west block is failing.
A heavy rainstorm batters the settlement. As Seth inspects a freshly erected support beam, a sickening crack echoes through the district. The wood splinters, buckling under the weight of the makeshift roof. The entire wall leans dangerously inward, threatening to crush the new housing units. Miller shouts as the debris begins to cascade, forcing a desperate scramble to pull the residents to safety before the structure collapses entirely.

Miller
Seth Get back! The support is giving out!

Seth
My calculations were off. The soil is too soft for this foundation. If this wall drops, the whole sector is compromised.
Seth lunges forward, boots sliding in the deepening mud, reaching for a support chain to stabilize the frame, but the tension snaps with a deafening, metallic ring.
“As we slowly fast forward In the story a few days we have been working on the lower part and made it a lot better and we even have houses with residents inside of them and some guards patrolling the streets and watching over the walls”
SUCCESS (Legendary Construction, rolled +0)

Days of hard work transform the lower district into a functional, secure hub. The walls hold, and the new housing units hum with the quiet stability of a budding community.

Seth
The foundation is solid now. We have guards patrolling the perimeter and citizens actually sleeping soundly inside their own walls.
Seth stands atop the main watchtower, overlooking the streets. Below, Miller coordinates a supply drop while residents go about their daily routines, trading rations and repairing fences. The air feels different here, free from the constant, suffocating dread of the open road.

Miller
Seth It is finally starting to look like a home, Seth. The guards have the north gate secure, and the scouts report the perimeter is holding steady for the first time in months.

Seth
We are building something that can last. If we keep this pace, the Kingdom will be a fortress before winter.
A scout sprints toward the base of the tower, waving a frantic hand toward the treeline.

Scout
Seth Trouble at the perimeter! A herd is drifting south, drawn by the smoke from the kitchen fires.

“Then Seth notices a whisper leading a group of dead towards the kingdom”
SUCCESS (Great Perception, rolled -1)

Seth
The scout is wrong. The smoke is just a distraction. Those walkers aren't wandering, they're being steered.
Seth scans the tree line, his keen eyes catching a flicker of movement against the grey foliage. A lone figure in a ragged, skin-stitched mask weaves through the rotting mass, rhythmically swaying to direct the herd toward the Kingdom’s fragile gate.

Seth
A Whisperer. They aren't just here to scout, they're here to tear down everything we've built.

Miller
Seth What are you looking at, Seth? I don't see anything but the usual rot.

Seth
Miller, get the heavy rifles. Someone is guiding them from the brush, and they’re aiming straight for the north gate.

Seth
If I take the shot, I reveal our position and start a war. If I wait, the gate breaks and the citizens die. I have to drop the shepherd before the herd breaches the perimeter.

Eliminate the Whisperer before the herd breaches the gate
“Then alpha steps up to the gate door to talk to seth from over the top with beta at her side her bodyguard and right hand man she says she just wants to talk and says there's a darkness stirring she just wants to make her presence known to the kingdom so she stands there well her whisper people guide The herd some feet behind her and asked me if I like her pets she's growing her heard”
SUCCESS (Fair Diplomacy, rolled +1)

Alpha steps onto the top of the barricade, her skin-mask unnervingly still.
Beta looms behind her, a towering shadow with a jagged blade held low. The herd surges behind them, a sea of gray teeth and rotting flesh, held back by the rhythmic hum of the Whisperer's low chants.

Alpha
Seth You have built such pretty walls. Do you enjoy my pets? I am only here to show you how small your kingdom truly is.

Seth
She's standing out in the open, gloating. If I put a bullet in her mask, the herd loses its shepherd. But Beta is fast. He'll reach the wall before I can rack the next round.

Miller
Seth Seth, she’s insane. Tell me you’re taking the shot.

Seth
I have one chance to end this, but if I miss, the gate goes down. She wants to talk. Let her talk until she steps an inch too close.

Seth
You're standing on the wrong side of the fence, Alpha. Tell your people to turn back before I stop being polite.
“I tell Miller we cannot take the shot it will cause the heard to charge us we sit on top of the tower continuing to talk to her from the height as she says your all walking dead you just don't see it yet then vanishes through the middle of the herd well turning them in the other direction as all the hums and groans from The herd faint”
SUCCESS (Legendary Tactics, rolled +0)

Miller
Seth The herd is too dense. If we fire, they break the fence in the panic. Hold your fire.

Seth
They are just meat, Alpha. You are leading them to a slaughter, not a revelation. Turn them now, or the only thing left of your people will be the rot.

Alpha
Seth You all are the walking dead. You just do not see it yet.
The Whisperer’s mask dips, her eyes unreadable. She pivots with unnatural grace, disappearing into the dense, shuffling mass of skin and bone. The low, rhythmic chanting shifts pitch, a hypnotic drone that steers the tide of death away from the gate. The groaning swells, then fades, trailing off into the distance like a receding storm.

Seth
She chose to leave. This wasn't a retreat, it was a test. She wanted to see if I’d fold under the pressure of a thousand corpses at my front door.

Miller
Seth They’re moving out. We’re safe for now, but that woman... she’s not going to just forget we’re here.
