Huarti

The Archive's Claim

Huarti emerges onto the high terrace, and the desert wind hits like cold glass. Below, the Obsidian Spires rise from the sand in black ranks, their ward-lights now carrying his pulse.

The name-runes drift above Huarti’s hand, slow and bright. Their glow answers the horizon, as if the far dunes are listening back.

The wards are no longer just holding, they are projecting your claim across the sands.

A thin seam of light opens at the terrace edge. It runs along the stone parapet, then slips downward, pointing toward a wind-carved stair cut into the cliff.

Malou

Malou

The archive has finished speaking here. If you want the next name, it waits where the old wind enters the cliff.

Huarti turns toward the stair as the runes tighten in a calm spiral, and the terrace behind him settles into obedient silence.

I follow Malou's instructions and bond

SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +1)

The Archive's Claim

Huarti steps onto the stair and the seam of light answers him, sliding from the parapet to his feet like a loyal trail.

The runes in his grasp loosen, then settle, not drifting ahead now but circling with the stair’s curve as if they know the route.

Malou

Malou

Good. The archive recognizes the path. Take it, and it will keep speaking.

Annika Mal

Annika Mal

It is opening for him, truly. I can feel the claim in the stone.

Huarti

Huarti

The stair is keyed to the same name-thread.

As Huarti descends, the terrace wards dim behind him and a narrow door of black rock parts in the cliff below, revealing a colder breath within.

Malou

Malou

The next name is inside. Once you cross, the archive will ask what you keep, and what you let die.

I follow Malou's guidance again

SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled +0)

The Archive's Claim

Huarti follows Malou’s guidance without hesitation, and the open black door yields to him. The cold inside the cliff does not resist his name-thread.

Malou

Malou

There. Keep to the left curve. The archive likes a steady hand on its memory.

The stair bends into a narrow vault of black stone and crystal. Dust trembles in the air, then settles as if the room has recognized its master.

A shelf-rune flares once beside Huarti, and a marked recess opens with a soft, obedient click.

Annika Mal

Annika Mal

It is responding to him again. Do you see that seal? It is choosing what it will show.

Huarti

Huarti

The recess is keyed to the same lineage-thread.

Huarti reaches the threshold of the inner chamber, where the next names wait in darkness, and the opened recess hums for his decision.

I proceed and use Malou's advice

SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled -3)

The Archive's Claim

Huarti moves as Malou advised, slow and exact, and the stair yields beneath his weight. The archive’s hush thickens, then parts around him like a curtain.

Malou

Malou

Left curve held. Good. The inner chamber listens better when you do not hurry it.

He steps through the threshold, and the faint glow in the recess steadies into a clear line of light across the floor.

Annika Mal

Annika Mal

It is opening for you... look, the next names are waking.

The line of light settles at Huarti’s feet, marking the chamber’s center, while the open door behind him leaves the terrace wind far away.

Huarti

Huarti

The chamber accepts the curve. The recess is active.

Inside the darkness ahead, the name-runes answer with a low, patient glow, waiting for Huarti to choose what the archive keeps.

I embed the power of Moradin into the structure and pray to Aerdrie Faenya for guidance

SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -2)

The Archive's Claim

Huarti lowers his hand to the chamber wall. The stone drinks in a pulse of red-gold strength, and the rune-work answers with a deep, steady thrum.

Within the seam of old wards, Moradin's stern craft settles into the structure, binding the hidden line true and firm.

Huarti lifts his gaze and gives Aerdrie Faenya a silent prayer. A cool draft stirs through the sealed dark, carrying a crisp, far-off guidance.

Malou

Malou

The archive takes it cleanly. I did not expect the ward to hold that shape.

Annika Mal

Annika Mal

Huarti... the names are changing. They are answering the prayer.

A new seam of light writes itself across the chamber floor, and one row of name-runes flares clear, each mark quiet but legible.

The glow settles on a single span of carved names, as if the archive is waiting for Huarti to choose what it keeps first.

I relax my energy into the shadows of it all

SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

The Archive's Claim

Huarti eases his strength down through the warded seam, not pressing, only sinking into the archive's dim veins.

The rune-line answers by darkening at the edges, its glow thinning into a softer, deeper shadow that clings to him instead of resisting.

In that hush, the names stop sounding like labels and start sounding like anchors. The chamber seems to recognize which ones still matter.

Malou

Malou

That is cleaner than I expected. You are not forcing the archive, you are listening to where it already rests.

Annika Mal

Annika Mal

The dark is helping now. Look, the line opens where your hand is least heavy.

One cluster of carved names clears fully, while the others fade back into hush. The archive offers a single path of keeping, quiet and exact.

Huarti stands at the center of the softened light, and the terrace wind falls still around the chosen runes.
