The Final Seal of the Spires

The red haze thins to smoke above the nursery terrace. Huarti stands at the center of the Obsidian Spires, with the archive, the brood, and the desert wards all answering his breath. Beyond the dunes, black wings gather again, testing the border.

The wards hold, but only if you choose what they are for. Seal the desert, or let it burn past us.

The Rootbound Caretaker

Name the last law, Keeper. The Spires will obey, but they will ask the whole of you.

Ehahase

Ehahase

My son, life endures when it is guarded. Do not bind yourself so tightly that nothing of you remains.

Green-gold wardlight wraps Earlise and the Caretaker. The hatchlings huddle safe behind Huarti’s shadow, while the desert wind brings ash and distant wingbeats. The archive’s root script brightens, waiting.

The final seal is open.

SUCCESS (Great Red electric, rolled -1)

The Final Seal of the Spires

Huarti answers with a single crack of red lightning. It tears across the dunes and finds the black dragons still lingering at the border, striking them flat against the sand.

The remaining wings buckle and scatter. Smoke lifts from the basin in torn ribbons, and the wardline along the nursery flares hard enough to paint the stone gold.

That is the line, then. They break against it and do not pass.

The Spires record the strike. The border answers you.

Ehahase

Good. Guarding life is strength, not weakness.

The ash wind softens. The hatchlings stay tucked behind Huarti’s shadow, and the green-gold ward settles into a steady glow around the two witnesses.

For a moment, the desert goes quiet under the archive’s law, holding only the smell of ozone and dust.

The Final Seal of the Spires

The last sparks of red lightning faded over the dunes, and the wardline settled into a steady, lucid hum.

Earlise

Earlise

It held. The nursery is ours, and the Spires are sealed.

Ehahase

Ehahase

You kept yourself, Huarti. More than most would have.

Then let the desert remember this shape.

The Rootbound Caretaker

The Rootbound Caretaker

Roots remain. Records remain. The order you forged will endure.

So the Obsidian Spires stood quiet beneath a hard blue sky, their wards bound and their nursery guarded at last. The desert beyond them withdrew into a wary stillness, and the black dragons did not return. Huarti remained at the center of it all, changed by dominion, yet crowned in the silence he had made.
