Huarti steps through the veil and into a vast hall of stillness. Petrified scrolls line the walls in ribbed rows, their surfaces dusted with age that never seems to move.
The air is dry, cold, and clean. No desert grit reaches this deep place, only a faint mineral scent and the hush of sealed stone.

Merek Vale
This chamber is older than the lower archive... and it is listening.

Annika Mal
We are farther in now. If the archive has a heart, this is near it.
Ahead, a black dais rises from the floor, ringed by pale sigils that catch the shadow-gold light. At its center rests a narrow, unopened slit of darkness.

Huarti
The wards here are layered, and one of them is new.
Huarti advances, and the hall answers with a slow, reverent tremor. The unseen seam on the dais brightens, as if recognizing him and deciding whether to open.
“I cast divine light on the dais”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled -1)

Huarti lifts a hand, and divine light spills from his palm onto the dais. The black slit answers at once, its edges whitening under the glow.
A hidden seam splits open in the stone, not with force, but with recognition. Dustless light runs along carved channels beneath it, revealing a maker's mark worked deep into the base.

Merek Vale
That script... it is not archive work. It is border-rite craft, old and foreign.

Annika Mal
Wait. There is a second hand in it. Someone else sealed this after the rite was set.
The light settles into the opened seam, and a name-like sigil becomes legible for a brief, sharp moment before the shadows try to swallow it again.

Merek Vale
The maker's sign matches the forbidden marginalia. We have seen this hand before, in fragments.
Annika leans in, tense, while the seam keeps open under Huarti's glow, waiting for the next choice.
“I create an emission of divine light so i can interact”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled +2)

Huarti lowers his hand a fraction, and the divine light thins from a beam into a calm, usable glow. It gathers along his fingers like living glass.
The open seam accepts it. The sigil inside stops fleeing the eye, and its lines sit bare in the light, sharp enough to read.

Merek Vale
There. That is the maker's hand. Not archive-born, border-bred.

Annika Mal
And the second mark, it is a sealing correction. Someone revised the rite after it was set.
The light reveals a shallow groove beneath the sigil, a hidden join worked into the dais as if the stone itself was meant to open for this exact power.

Huarti
The join is keyed to the light, not the blade.
Merek straightens, staring at the exposed craft, while Annika’s hand hovers over the glowing seam, waiting for Huarti’s next command.
