Lessons of the Devil

Huarti settles deeper into the nest, the red infinity toga pooling like a banner across the straw. He raises the spell-box, and its glow steadies into a warm, measured pulse over the eggs.

Above the brood, blue-gold dream-images bloom, a distant spire under a field of stars. The hatchlings lean in, wide-eyed and silent, while the eggs answer with a soft, steady shine.

Huarti

Huarti

I was not born small. I was born to reach far, and to stand above storms.

The spell-box shifts with his words, showing tall walls, drifting ruins, and a red figure moving through voidlit air. The brood watches each image like it is a lesson carved in light.

He gives them wonder, and he gives it gently. That matters.

One hatchling inches closer to Huarti’s hand, its tiny claws resting on his wrist. The other eggs keep their calm glow, as if listening too.

There were battles, and there was hunger. There was also patience, and the art of choosing when to strike.

Annika stays at the edge of the light, her posture easing as the nursery fills with a quiet, shared attention. The story pauses on the next shining image, waiting for Huarti to name what comes after the stars.

I show them me in many devilish natural forms throughout dates in time, fighting bad guys past their limits, many forms of myself looking as hard as the devil as anyone would label but very different looking from one another some a simple red imp with red horns, some a whole beast.

Lessons of the Devil

Huarti lowers the spell-box and turns it like a mirror in his long hands. The warm light thickens, then blooms into moving shapes, not one form but many.

A small red imp flashes first, horned and quick, darting through sparks. Then a lean devil with black fangs, then a vast beast with blazing eyes, each silhouette striking at a different enemy across different years.

The hatchlings huddle closer, transfixed. The eggs answer with a brighter hum, as if the nursery itself is learning the rhythm of his power.

You do not hide what you are from them. You teach it in plain sight.

One image lingers longer than the others, a red-bodied Huarti driving back a host twice his size. The spell-box catches a hidden seam in the glamour, and the memory deepens into sharper color.

That is not only strength. It is discipline. They will remember both.

The smallest hatchling lifts a claw toward the floating beast-shape, then looks to Huarti for approval. The room settles into expectant quiet.

Teach the hatchlings through calm determination

I tell them, through sheer intellegence, determination and calmness i achieved what i wanted to most, it was never to hurt the innocent and that is part of why i was so successful and evil is not.

SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled -3)

Lessons of the Devil

The spell-box dims to a steady glow as Huarti speaks, calm as stone. The hatchlings lean in, and the dream-light settles over their scales like warm dust.

Huarti

He wants them to hear the shape of the lesson, not just the story.

Huarti

I won what I wanted through thought, patience, and calm. I never needed to harm the innocent to do it.

The eggs answer with a low, brighter hum, their glow pulsing in time with his words. One hatchling straightens, eyes fixed on Huarti as if the sentence itself is a spell.

That is the part they will remember, I think. Not the power, but the restraint.

Annika Mal folds her hands at her waist, watching Huarti with open respect. The hatchlings do not look away from him now.

Then success can be gentle? Then being strong does not mean being cruel?

The nursery holds its breath in the warm, blue light, waiting on Huarti's answer.
