Huarti

The Nomad Camp's Honored Guest

The nomad camp glows with low firelight, all woven rugs, brass bowls, and drifting spice. Huarti is offered a broad seat of honor beside the elders, where roasted grain and sweet smoke soften the night.

Elder One

Elder One

You have kept the road. Eat, and sit as one who guards it.

Huarti takes the honored place. Around him, the elders watch with careful calm, no longer only measuring his power, but the shape of his restraint.

Elder Three

Elder Three

We thought protection would demand chains. You have asked for none.

That is why they trust him. The wardline holds, and the road breathes easier for it.

Elder Two

Then let the desert know it plainly. The caravan road is under your shelter, Huarti.

A bowl is set within reach, steam rising in gold curls. The camp settles into a shared pause, warm and listening, as the elders wait for Huarti's answer.

The Nomad Camp's Honored Guest

Huarti lifts his gaze from the bowl, and the firelight catches the black beads at his throat. The elders fall quiet as he speaks of Ehahase, the endless sky dragon, creator above all roosts and roads.

Huarti

Huarti

My mother is Ehahase, the sky dragon who oversees all. I will guard this road, and help however I can.

The camp takes the name in like a blessing. A few heads lower at once, not in fear now, but in respect.

Elder One

Then your shelter has a source as vast as your shadow. That is fitting.

Elder Three

We hear more than strength in you now. We hear stewardship.

Nomad Envoy

He means it. The wardline held because he chose the road over pride.

Elder Two slides the bowl a little nearer, and the steam curls between Huarti and the fire. The offer is no longer formal, it is shared.

Eat, honored guest. Tell us what a guardian of Ehahase asks of a caravan, when the night grows long.
