Dallas feeds the code into the reinforced door. The lock takes it, then hesitates. Somewhere beyond the steel, heavy boots slow to a stop. The amber console light holds steady, like it is listening.

Jackson Temple
That’s them. One set moving, one set waiting. The mole is right behind this door.
The door cracks open a hand’s width. Cold air spills out, carrying the smell of oil and damp concrete. A strip of corridor appears, and with it, a glimpse of a figure in Harbor Unit colors dragging something pale toward the inner chamber.

Dallas Fontaine
Dayton is inside. The logs were right.

Unknown Voice
Seal it. Now. They have the log.
Jackson steps into the gap with his weapon up, forcing the door wider. The corridor beyond answers with a sharp metallic clatter, and a second set of boots breaks into a run deeper ahead.
Dallas has the route, the mole is exposed, and Dayton is only one door away. If he pushes through now, he reaches the captive professor before the reinforcements can lock the spine down.
✓ Quest Accepted
Reach Professor Dayton
“I shove the door fully open and sprint down the corridor after the runner.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +2)

Dallas slams the door wider and drives into the corridor, boots striking wet concrete as the amber glow spills behind him.
Ahead, the runner cuts hard around a bend, pale bundle still in hand, while fresh bootsteps hammer from deeper in the spine.

Jackson Temple
Go, Dallas, I’ve got the door.
The service passage narrows around rusted pipes and old cable trays, the air cold and oily. Dallas closes the gap fast.

Unknown Voice
He’s through. Move the captive.
The runner glances back once, sees Dallas, and stumbles as the pale shape in their grip drops against the floor with a dull thud.

Dallas Fontaine
Dayton is ahead, and they know it.
Dallas reaches the bend as a side hatch ahead starts to swing inward, opening onto the inner chamber where the corridor leads next.
“I keep chasing the runner”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled -1)

Dallas surges through the bend, and the runner breaks left into the inner chamber, still clutching Dayton like baggage in a theft. The side hatch yawns wider ahead, spilling a colder light across the wet floor.
Jackson stays on the rear threshold, square to the corridor, while the doorframe behind Dallas shudders under pressure from the hall. The chase stays live, but the path ahead is now open.

Unknown Voice
Seal it now, he’s in.
The runner ducks through the opening, and Dallas closes right behind them, boots skidding on the slick concrete.

Dallas Fontaine
The hatch opens into the inner chamber.
Beyond the hatch, an amber console light pulses against steel walls. A discarded Harbor Unit badge lies near the threshold, half-lit and spinning once before settling.

Jackson Temple
Dallas, I can’t hold this door forever.
“I push through the door and shoot the runner”
SUCCESS (Legendary Firearms, rolled -1)

Dallas drives the door inward with his shoulder as the frame bucks on its hinges, and his revolver comes up in the same motion.
The runner snaps back into the amber wash, caught in the open, and Dallas’s shot cracks the chamber before the man can shove Dayton any farther.
The runner jerks and folds sideways, slamming against the console bank. Professor Dayton is ripped free and stumbles hard to the floor.
The discarded Harbor Unit badge skitters under the console as the amber light flickers over blood, steel, and wet concrete.

Jackson Temple
Dallas, move. Door’s giving way.
From the corridor behind him, the pressure on the rear door surges again, and the hidden relay answers with a rapid clicking from deeper inside the chamber.
