Scene102
The Beacon TrapLower service passage inside the old revolutionary battlefield hill
The Beacon Trap

The red pulse in the stone catches its own breath, then sharpens. Dallas traces the wiring in the tunnel and finds the truth snapping into place, this is not a signal, it is a homing beacon.

Dallas Fontaine

Dallas Fontaine

It is broadcasting our exact position through the monument.

Above them, the footsteps stop dead over the tunnel. The clicking turns fast and precise, like a lock finding a tooth it was built for.

Professor Dayton

Professor Dayton

Bishop never meant this hill to hide anything. He meant it to feed on whoever came looking.

The red glow flares through cracks in the stone, and the service passage feels suddenly smaller, a trap closing its fist around Dallas, Murderbone, and Dayton.

The Hooded Man

The Hooded Man

Hold them there. The beacon has them.

Cut clean. The beacon loses its line.

Above, the clicking falters into a hard metallic snag. Dust sheds from the ceiling in a thin curtain.

Professor Dayton

Professor Dayton

It is down. He cannot track us through this route now.

The glow drains from the cracked stone, leaving only the tunnel's sickly dimness and the smell of hot insulation.

The Hooded Man

The Hooded Man

They cut it. Move in now.

Dallas's hand comes away blackened and smoking. Murderbone shifts forward over him, growling at the opening as footsteps slam closer overhead.
