Two weeks pass. Far Harbor keeps its mouth shut. In Dallas Fontaine’s apartment, the knock comes hard and regular, like a metronome with a grudge.
Dallas opens the door to a hallway washed in sick yellow light. A woman in a sharp suit stands there, cold-eyed, a charred digital drive pinched between two fingers.

Elena Vane
You looked longer than I expected. I’m Elena Vane, former civic annex. Bell purged us when the files got inconvenient.

Elena Vane
This drive survived the fire. What’s on it finishes the trail you started, if you still have the nerve to follow it.
She holds the drive up just out of reach, never offering it freely. Her smile is thin and mean, the kind that costs nothing to wear.

Elena Vane
I’m not here to help you, Detective. I’m here because Bell wants this buried, and you’ve already dug too deep.

Dallas Fontaine
What is it?

Elena Vane
A map, a ledger, and names. Come to the annex file room, and you can stop guessing who killed your daughter.

Expose Jonas Bell
“Grab the drive from Elena's hand before she can pull it back.”
SUCCESS (Great Agility, rolled -1)

Dallas’s hand snaps out. The drive slips free before Elena can curl her fingers back around it.
He has it. The charred plastic lands in his palm, warm from her grip, its edge blackened and brittle.

Elena Vane
Careful. That little thing is the only reason I came upstairs.
Elena’s eyes track the drive, not Dallas’s face. Her hand stays half-raised, empty now, while her smile thins.

Dallas Fontaine
The casing is damaged, but the chip inside is still intact.

Elena Vane
Open it, and you stop guessing. Bell’s name is in there, along with the annex room that hides the rest.
From deeper in the apartment, a floorboard gives a soft, deliberate creak. Elena’s gaze flicks past Dallas toward the hallway, then back again.
