Kalazan crosses the threshold, his boots crunching on ancient, pulverized ice that coats the floor of the passage. The air here tastes of ozone and long-buried earth, chilling his lungs with every breath.

Kalazan
The runes embedded in these walls are older than the Hold itself.
Commander Korth and Captain Brann follow closely, their footsteps echoing into the vast, lightless gallery ahead. The walls widen, revealing rows of towering stone statues that loom like silent sentinels over the path.

Commander Korth
Keep your eyes on the shadows, men. This place does not feel abandoned.

Unit Captain Brann
The Pale Moon tribe has been tracking this path, Commander. If they are already inside, we will find their mark soon enough.
A low, rhythmic thrumming begins to vibrate through the stone floor, shaking loose dust from the vaulted ceiling above as the passage spills into a massive, circular chamber.

“I cast a detect life and alignment on the statues”
SUCCESS (Legendary Arcana, rolled +3)

Kalazan
The magic in these statues is not dormant, it hums with a lingering, hollow life.
Kalazan raises his staff, weaving a web of violet energy that pulses outward to wash over the monoliths. As the light touches the stone faces, the statues pulse in response with an inner, chaotic radiance.
The arcane feedback reveals the truth of the gallery. These are not mere effigies, but bound vessels of ancient warriors, their moral imprints flickering with the cold, predatory malice of the Pale Moon tribe.

Commander Korth
My Lord, the air is curdling. What do you see?

Unit Captain Brann
Those eyes are tracking us. By the gods, they are turning.
With a grinding of tectonic weight, the nearest statue pivots its heavy stone head to fix a glare directly on Kalazan, its palm slowly uncurling to reveal a jagged iron blade concealed within the rock.
“In ancient i tell it we do not wish to intrude, that the evil winged cats have led us here and that they seek to defile and disrespect them. I say our oarty respect the resting and wars they trialed”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Kalazan
Hear me, guardians of this vault. We seek no desecration of your eternal vigil, nor do we claim the blood of your legacy.

Kalazan
The Pale Moon tribe, those wretched beast-men, have stalked these tunnels. They brought the stench of their defilement to your threshold to bait our hands against you.
Kalazan lowers his staff, the violet light fading into a submissive, dull glow. He plants the tip firmly into the dust as a sign of parley.

Commander Korth
He is speaking to stone as if they were generals. Madness, or a depth of command I have yet to fathom.
The statues shudder. The grinding of stone against stone slows, then reverses. The pale light in their eyes dulls, flickering like a dying candle before shifting from a hostile crimson back to a calm, ancient sapphire.

Unit Captain Brann
They are sheathing their blades, my Lord. The gallery... it is settling.
As the statues stand down, a hidden seam in the far wall grinds open, revealing a dais where a pristine, silver-inlaid chest rests. It was clearly never meant to be reached by those who drew steel.

“Carefully i open the chest”
SUCCESS (Good Perception, rolled +2)

Kalazan steps forward, the dust of centuries crunching beneath his heavy boots. He reaches the dais and extends a hand, his fingers tracing the silver inlay of the chest.

Kalazan
This craftsmanship far predates the Pale Moon arrival. It was sealed to be found only by those who could command the silence.

Commander Korth
Careful, my Lord. The mechanism that opened the door might just as easily snap shut on your arm.
The lid groans but gives way effortlessly. Inside, nestled upon a cushion of moth-eaten velvet, sits a crystal sphere pulsing with the same sapphire light as the statues.

Unit Captain Brann
It is a beacon. It hums with the resonance of the entire fort above.
As Kalazan lifts the sphere, a series of etched maps manifests in the air, floating in the center of the room. They outline every secret tunnel and forgotten passage currently riddled with Pale Moon movement.
