Unsealing the Deep Chamber

Commander Korth shifts first, planting his feet beside the blue line and raising his weapon toward the crack. Below them, the nursery floor keeps thudding like a giant heart trapped in stone.

Kalazan

Kalazan

The rune seam is widening.

Kalazan signals the Carpenter back. He drives the staff and prayer beads down into the marked stones, and the glow surges brighter across the floor.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

Keep back. If that opens wrong, I take the first blow.

The first slab gives way with a sharp grind. Cold air spills up from the gap, black and still, and the tunnel walls answer with a tremor that rattles dust loose from the beams.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

There is a deeper chamber under us. Something sealed, and awake enough to notice.

Korth edges closer to the opening, weapon ready, as the fractured stones pry apart another finger's width.

Survive the encounter with the entity in the deeper chamber

I use rythmic shaking and chanting with the beads

SUCCESS (Legendary Conjuration arcana, rolled -1)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

Kalazan shakes the beads in a tight rhythm, and the marked stones answer at once. The blue seam steadies, then parts with a low exhale, as if some buried lock recognizes the call.

A cone of cold blackness opens below the nursery floor. The thudding stops for a single breath, then returns softer, deeper, like a pulse heard through a wall.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

By the holds... it listens to you. Give the word, Kalazan, and I will go first.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

The seal is not breaking. It is yielding.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter

I can shore the rim, lord, but I do not like how deep that goes.

The slab tilts wider under Kalazan's guidance. Dust sifts from the edges, and a narrow ledge of carved stone appears below, descending into a chamber lit by a dim, starless sheen.

Kalazan

Kalazan

It opens to a deeper chamber.

From within the void, a breath of old air rises, carrying a faint metallic tang and a second rhythm, slower than the first. Something below has noticed the opening, and it answers with a patient scrape of stone on stone.

Slowly i raise the level of cleric chanting

SUCCESS (Legendary Conjuration arcana, rolled +2)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

Kalazan lifts the chant higher, slow and steady, and the shaft below answers with a cleaner glow. The blue seam tightens into runic rings along the ledge, like a seal being read aloud.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

That is it, lord. The chamber is taking the measure of your voice.

The hidden stone gives with a deep click. A narrow passage of dressed rock becomes visible beyond the ledge, its walls etched with old warning marks and a faint frost.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

Not a collapse. A keyed ward, older than the nursery itself... and he is opening it cleanly.

A warm draft rises from below, carrying dust, metal, and something herbal, almost like crushed roots. The slow scrape heard from within stops at once.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter

By stone and mortar, it is listening. Lord, the rim is steady, but I would not lean too far over that edge.

The glow widens just enough to reveal a carved threshold deeper in the dark, and an old bronze latch hanging unfastened beside it. Whatever waits inside is no longer barred.

Below, something shifts once, deliberate and heavy, as if turning to face the open way.

I cast banish evil at it

SUCCESS (Legendary Conjuration arcana, rolled +2)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

Kalazan thrusts the banishing force into the open threshold. The dark below flares white-blue, and whatever lurks within recoils without crossing the ledge.

A harsh whisper tears through the chamber, then snaps off. Dust lifts in a ring, and the bronze latch shudders, dropping free from the inner frame.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

That is an answer, lord. The chamber is yielding to you.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

The ward is not dead, it is purged. Something was bound in there, and it hates being seen.

The blue seam steadies into a clean, obedient glow. Beyond the threshold, a narrow step and a bronze ring are now plain to see in the dark.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter

Stone holds, and so do we. But whatever moved below is gone quiet all at once.

Kalazan

Kalazan

The seal is open, and the passage is clear.

From deep inside the chamber comes one final sound, a slow exhale of stale air, then a deliberate scrape farther back in the dark, waiting for whoever enters next.

I use a powerful cleric word that send sun's light filling/replacing the darkness in the tunnel

SUCCESS (Legendary Conjuration arcana, rolled -2)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

Kalazan drives the cleric word deeper, and sunlight surges through the passage in a single bright flood. The blackness peels back from the stone like smoke in a gale.

The narrow step, the bronze ring, and the inner walls of the chamber stand fully revealed. Runes along the ledge blaze clean and gold, as if answered by the spell.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

By the mountain, lord, it takes the whole dark with it.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

No, look. It is not merely light. It is a revealing.

Farther in, the scrape stops. Whatever waited in the dark is now pinned under the bright, exposed in every contour.

Kalazan

Kalazan

The chamber is fully open.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter

If there was anything hidden in that hollow, it has nowhere to hide now.

At the back of the chamber, a taller shape begins to resolve in the light, still and listening, as though the next step belongs to someone inside.

I summon a skeleton gaurdian using cleric spell, ancestral gaurdian

SUCCESS (Legendary Conjuration arcana, rolled -1)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

Kalazan thrusts his staff down and speaks the summoning through his teeth. Pale bone light knots together beside him, then rises into a guardian shape with shield, ribs, and a long-pronged spear.

The skeleton guardian locks into place before Kalazan, not shuffling like a corpse, but standing with a soldier's stillness. A thin halo of ancestral force clings to its bones, sharp enough to sting the eye.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

Now that is a proper wall, lord.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

That is not necromancy. It is older than that, and cleaner.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter

Stone and spirit both, in one breath... I do not like how easy he makes it look.

Inside the chamber, the tall shape shifts at last, and the guardian turns its skull toward it in perfect answer. The gold runes flare brighter across the ledge, as if recognizing a challenge.

A dry, ancient click echoes from the dark beyond the light, and the open chamber holds its breath.

I bless the skeleton gaurdian and ask it to deal with the cursed thing down there

SUCCESS (Legendary Conjuration arcana, rolled -1)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

Kalazan lowers the staff toward the open void, and the guardian answers at once. Bone light gathers over its ribs, steady and bright, as if receiving a crown.

Kalazan

Kalazan

The binding holds.

Kalazan

Kalazan

Go. Deal with that cursed thing below.

The skeleton guardian steps past the threshold, spear angled down into the chamber. The ancient glow below trembles against its clean white bones.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

You heard the lord. Hold the line.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

It is obeying him, fully. Spirits do not like that kind of command.

A cold draft spills up from the chamber, carrying dust and a sour note of old magic. The unseen presence below shifts hard enough to shake the light.

The guardian plants its feet and drives the spearpoint into the glow. A voice like scraped stone leaks up from the depths, answering the strike with a startled hiss.

I cast banish at the main target

SUCCESS (Legendary Conjuration arcana, rolled +1)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

The scraped-stone voice cuts off in a choking gust. Kalazan’s banishment slams down through the open chamber, and the darkness below buckles around it.

A pale shape flashes in the runic light, then tears free, yanked backward into nothing. Dust bursts upward like breath from a grave.

The Entity Below

The Entity Below

No. Not here... not sealed away again.

The ledge shivers. A hidden ring of scratched markings flares once along the inner wall, revealing a narrow niche where something metallic lies wedged in old ash.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

It is breaking, lord. The chamber is losing its hold.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

That was no prison spirit. It was anchored, and now the anchor is exposed.

The cold draft weakens, replaced by a dry, hollow stillness. Below the threshold, the void is not empty, it is waiting.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter

Kalazan, I can see a fitting in the stone, a latch or key seat. If you want it, now is the time.

Retrieve the metallic fitting from the niche

I retrieve the fitting

FAILURE (Good Construction, rolled -2)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

The ash-packed niche gives under Kalazan’s reach, but the metal bites back. A thin click answers from inside the wall, sharp as a lock springing half-open.

Kalazan

Kalazan

The fitting is tied to a second mechanism.

A breath of cold air spills through the seam, and the hidden chamber answers with a low, grinding shift. Dust rains from the ledge, not from the void below, but from the stone around the niche itself.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

Hold fast, lord. Something just moved behind the wall.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

Do not pull it free yet. It is part of the seal, or part of a trap.

The fitting twists deeper on its own, as if a hidden hand inside the masonry is turning it from the far side. A second seam appears, running down the stone beside Kalazan’s reach.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter

That opening is widening, but not where we want it. Lord, the wall is giving us a different door.

Below them, the dark throat of the chamber exhales again. This time, the draft carries a soft metallic rattle, like loose parts shifting in the dark just beyond the broken seal.

I raise the level of chanting, giving praise and thanks to the hood gods i know

SUCCESS (Legendary Conjuration arcana, rolled +2)

Unsealing the Deep Chamber

Kalazan lifts his chant higher, the syllables rolling through the nursery tunnels like a deep bell. The cold draft shudders against his robes, then bends toward his voice.

The wall answers with a clean metallic chime. Dust lifts off the niche in a silver veil, and the hidden fitting settles into full view, no longer jammed or coy.

A faint blue-gold glow crawls along the second seam, tracing old runes buried in the stone. The chamber seal loosens with a grudging sigh.

Commander Korth

Commander Korth

That is the sound of a gate yielding. Your gods heard you, lord.

The Dark Arcana Caster

The Dark Arcana Caster

It is not just a lock. It is listening back.

The niche pops fully open. Inside rests a small metallic fitting, shaped like a hook or clasp, cold enough to mist the air around Kalazan’s fingers.

Kalazan

Kalazan

The fitting is the key point of the mechanism.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter

By the stone, it is meant to be taken now. Careful, lord, the wall is still awake.

From beyond the broken seal, the metallic rattle stops all at once. Something in the dark has gone perfectly still, as if it has heard the same chant.
