Adventure of Kalazan 1

Kalazan steps fully into the inner vault, his gaze fixed on the dark wrapped shape atop the dais. The runes around it pulse like a slow heartbeat, throwing cold light over the stone.

The wrapped shape shifts again, a faint rise and fall beneath the bindings. Dust trembles from the ceiling, then settles into the ozone-stung air.

The dais answers with a low grind. A hidden ring of stone turns under the wrapped shape, and the runes flare brighter as if something in the chamber has heard its name.

Kalazan speaks the cleansing working, and the vault answers at once. Pale corruption peels back from the wrapped shape in a ripple of black smoke, hissing into the cold air.

The runes do not just flare, they steady. Their pulse becomes clean and even, as if the chamber itself exhales.

The bindings loosen, not by force, but by permission. A hidden seam opens along the wrap, and a sliver of what is inside shows through, pale stone or bone with a carved sigil cut deep into it.

The chamber grows quieter, but not safer. The opened wrap leaks a cold, focused presence, and the newly visible sigil points deeper beneath the hold, toward something that waits below the vault.
