Thadeus eases Elizabeth through the repaired hallway and into the apartment, the building finally feeling like itself again. He tells Marla and Elias the area is safe now, and the tension in their shoulders loosens at once.

Good. Then I am going home while I still remember what sleep is.

Same. I am, honestly, grateful for the quiet.
They linger only long enough to nod, then head out. Thadeus lowers Elizabeth onto the couch with care, the couch cushions dipping under her weight.
He takes a seat beside her. The apartment is dim and still, full of bruised silence, the broken day settling around them like dust.
