Blue light rips across the bedroom. The Peacebringer vibrates in Thadeus’s grip like it wants out.

Marla and Elias jerk back from the bed as the air in the room bends and shimmers.

The projection steadies, Trevor's face strained and pale behind the static, his image locked to the room like a bad transmission.

Elias shoves off the doorway and rushes in, wrapping Trevor in a hard, shaking hug. The force of it almost knocks Trevor sideways.

Trevor clutches Elias back for one breath, then his face tightens. Blue static crawls over his shoulders, and the projection begins to fray at the edges.

The phone on the dresser buzzes under the spill of light, still recording. Marla leans in, eyes sharp, while the shimmer around Trevor flickers like it's being pulled apart from both sides.
