Adventure of Slaan 1

The Hall of Welcome hums like a plucked string. Violet threads lie in tidy lines around the merchant’s ledger, but the air thickens as if something far away notices the order Slaan has made.

Nhal leans over the ledger, their glowing form sharpening with focus. Bren stays by the entrance, blade ready, eyes fixed on the dark doorway.

Then the lattice answers back. A deeper pulse rolls through the floor, not from the room, but from below it, as though a buried well has found the Hall and begun to test the walls.

The ledger’s pages flutter open on their own. Across a blank line, fresh violet script bleeds into view, forming a route mark that points beyond Phandelver, toward old void-wells and the Shadowfell’s reach.

The hum settles into a steady beat, stubborn and watchful. The Hall is holding, but something on the other side of the network now knows where to look.

Slaan lifts her spell book over the ledger and lets her sight slip past ink and page. The violet route-mark loosens into a thread of meaning, stretching downward through stone, then outward into a chain of distant wells.

The line sharpens, then forks, not into random halls, but into a deliberate path through the network. One branch sinks into the Shadowfell’s reach. Another circles back toward the Hall, like a remembered return.

Bren leans in from the doorway, blade still ready, while the ledger’s script flares brighter under Slaan’s gaze. The destination settles in her mind as a mapped resonance, old and specific, a receiving well waiting to be answered.

The Hall holds steady, but the new path is now readable, and readable paths can be followed.
