Standoff at the Warded Booth

The corridor tightens around Rosmira as the dark-coated hunter stops under the restaurant lights. Behind her, the warded booth glows softly through the privacy screen. Ahead, the stranger lifts his chin, measuring her and the faint pressure of everyone she protects.

There you are. I have followed the trail long enough. Let them go, and this stays between us.

No. She is not facing this alone.

Careful. If you came here for a scene, you picked the wrong booth.

My dining room is not your hunting ground. One wrong move, and I seal every exit in this hall.

The hunter’s gaze flicks to the booth, to Brittany, to Leon, then back to Rosmira. For a heartbeat, the whole web of bargains holds still. Everyone waits for the one choice that breaks it open.

So this guy is give off this evil arua? he looks so plain no way he is the cause of ruining my fine evening seriously?!

SUCCESS (Legendary Perception, rolled -1)

Standoff at the Warded Booth

Rosmira lets her attention settle on the dark coat and the shape beneath it. The pressure clinging to him is wrong, flat on the surface and tangled underneath, like cheap cologne sprayed over old smoke. He is not the evening’s true rot.

Rosmira

Rosmira

Plain on purpose. The threat is under the skin, not in the face.

The hunter’s stance shifts as if he feels her notice him. His gaze tightens, but the corridor’s chill does not come from him alone. It rides in from elsewhere, following the torn foil card on the floor and the metallic clatter deeper in the hall.

Rosmira

Rosmira

You are not the source of my ruined evening.

Rosmira’s assessment lands cleanly. The figure is wary, watchful, and carrying a shadow of borrowed purpose, not the full weight of the pressure pressing on the restaurant. That burden belongs to something past him, something still moving.

Then you feel it too. Good. I am here for what is following me.

Inside the booth, Leon and Jews stay braced, while Brittany keeps one hand near the ward controls. The sealed screen hums softly, holding their little sanctuary together as Rosmira stands between protection and pursuit, now certain the dark-coated man is only the first layer of the problem.

Standoff at the Warded Booth

The corridor held its breath, ward-light paling against the hunter's dark coat.

No. Not this time. They stay with me.

Then he answers to all of us.

I am not moving an inch.

If this turns ugly, I lock the doors and keep it contained.

Rosmira stood between danger and the people she had chosen, and the choice had become its own kind of vow. Somewhere beyond the corridor, the real hunter remained hidden, but the moment itself was hers, and it did not break her. Stars Restaurant stayed standing, warm with warding light and the hard-earned peace of those who refused to be taken.
