The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central

With dinner done and Brittany’s business settled, Rosmira, Leon, and Jews leave Stars through the side corridor. The city outside is all neon rain and softer crowds, a better place to breathe.

Rosmira’s return pass pulses once under her hand. Then again. The glow is wrong, insistent, like it is answering something far away.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

That feels bad. Really bad.

Jews

Jews

Or it finally notices us. I vote we keep walking.

Rosmira glances down at the sealed complaint Brittany handed over earlier. The envelope sits heavy and neat, no longer just a favor, but part of a larger chain she can finally feel tightening.

Jews

Jews

See? More excitement. I told you tonight would have an edge.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

I do not like that pulse. Rosmira, I think something is trying to find us.

Jews slides a little closer to Leon, smiling with calm that now reads too practiced. The pass keeps thudding in Rosmira’s palm, pointing the way forward even as the street opens toward quieter blocks.

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central
Rosmira

Rosmira

Let’s find somewhere quiet. I have a feeling a certain headache of a maid is trying to ruin my vacation.

Rosmira eases upward, drawing Leon and Jews with her toward a side street where the music thins and the rain softens. The return pass keeps pulsing, but the signal starts to feel less like a beacon and more like a snare.

She spots it, a narrow service awning tucked between shuttered shops, just enough shadow to hide three people and a bad mood. The sealed complaint stays tight in her hand as she leads them under cover.

Rosmira lands lightly on the awning edge, then drops into the narrow space below. Her aura dampener clicks as she adjusts it, and the pulsing in the pass stutters once, like it has found less to grab.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

That should help. I hate that I can still feel it, though.

Jews

Jews

Cute. We hide in the one place with a camera and a busted light. Very romantic.

A streetlight above them flickers, then steadies. The torn corner of the reservation slip slips partway from Rosmira’s pocket and brushes Leon’s sleeve as the three of them stop, close enough to breathe the same air.

The pulse fades, but not cleanly. Somewhere nearby, a phone vibrates once in answer, and Jews turns her head toward the sound with a sudden, wary stillness.

your a vampire jews cant you just take out the camera? leon clearly cant use his claws here and i have to answer this stupid thing before Cleara decides to punish me for ingoring her.

SUCCESS (Superb Conversation, rolled +2)

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central
Rosmira

Rosmira

Jews, can you take out the camera? Leon can’t really use his claws here, and I need to answer this thing before Cleara decides I’m being difficult.

Jews

Jews

Gladly. If someone is watching, I’d rather they lose the angle.

Jews pushes off the wall and slips toward the alley mouth, all smooth impatience and predator grace. Her hand lifts once, quick and precise, and the camera above the awning jerks sideways into darkness.

The vibrating phone keeps buzzing nearby, now louder without the camera’s hiss in the background. Leon shifts closer to Rosmira, his shoulders tight but steady, keeping his body between her and the street.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

Okay. That helps. What do you want me to do? Stay close?

Jews returns to the shadow line, dusting rain from her fingers. In the same motion, she hooks the torn reservation slip from Rosmira’s pocket edge and tucks it back flat before anyone outside can catch the flutter of paper.

Jews

Jews

There. One less eye. Now answer it before the wrong person gets impatient.

The phone buzz stops, then starts again, stubborn and close, as if whoever is calling knows exactly where they are.

Rosmira leaves Neon Central behind and arrives at Dimmerra.

THe phone is buzzing from something else. my return pass is glowing brighter now. ill use the return pass now i know its sudden but leon and jews will have to just come along for the ride.

SUCCESS (Great Agility, rolled -1)

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central

Dimmerra swallows them in warm, perfumed dusk, all velvet shadows and distant glow. Rosmira’s return pass flares hard in her hand, then goes still, like a lock finally finding its key.

A quiet corridor waits ahead, lined with soft light and polished dark stone. The air tastes familiar, and wrong, as if the place has been prepared for arrivals that are not meant to leave.

Rosmira

Rosmira

We’re here. Stay close.

Leon steps in beside her with a sharp breath, looking from the pass to the corridor and back again. Jews follows a beat later, her expression flattening into alert recognition.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

That was too easy.

Jews

Jews

Mm. This feels arranged.

The phone’s buzzing dies the moment the glow settles, and the screen flashes a single unreadable notification before dimming. At Rosmira’s feet, the torn corner of the reservation slip has gone glossy in the new light, proof that something has followed them here with precision.

Ahead, a pair of doors stands open to a waiting hall, bright and quiet. No one blocks them, which somehow makes the welcome feel worse.

New Gift: Hard-Won Insight

Well um sorry about this. Welcome to my world Dimmerra. Located in the 4th layer of hell inside a pocket domain. Kinda had to use my one way and it dragged yall her. So this room is the hall way to the head maid office Madam Cleara just know she is super strict about the rules.

SUCCESS (Superb Conversation, rolled -2)

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central
Rosmira

Rosmira

Well, um, sorry about this. Welcome to my world, Dimmerra. It is in the fourth layer of hell, inside a pocket domain. I had to use my one-way pass, and it dragged you here. This hall leads to Madam Cleara’s office, and she is very strict about the rules.

Leon’s brows lift, and he glances once at the bright doors, then back to Rosmira. Jews lets out a soft breath that sounds halfway between a laugh and a warning.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

So this is your home, then. I thought we were stepping into a room, not a whole world.

Jews

Jews

Strict rules, a private office, and a one-way pass. Mm. That explains the trap-shaped feeling.

The torn reservation slip in Rosmira’s hand catches the light like a fresh cut paper charm. Beyond the doors, the waiting hall stays empty, polished, and terribly quiet.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

If this is where we have to start, stay between us and tell us what she wants from you.

Jews

Jews

And tell us how much trouble your rules make when you break them.

SO long story short im one of the older succubus here. and well Cleara is like a older sister to me she is second to our Queen and ruler of this world. Dragging yall her might of got me into alot of trouble but not like i had a choice the ticket was glowing. I been gone for 2 days thats like 2 weeks here in my world. so dont worry time on earth is practically at a stand still while your here.

SUCCESS (Superb Conversation, rolled -1)

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central

Rosmira lowers her voice and lays it out plainly, the way only an elder who has outlived embarrassment can. Cleara is not just staff, she is close to the Queen, and this place answers to rules older than pride. The glow was no accident, it was a summons.

Rosmira

Rosmira

I have been gone two days. In Dimmerra, that can feel like two weeks. Earth will barely have noticed.

Leon blinks, then exhales with a shaky little laugh that loosens his shoulders. Jews’ brows lift at the time difference, her skepticism thinning into interest as she studies Rosmira instead of the doors.

Rosmira

Rosmira

So the pass dragged you here, and I had to follow because I had no clean choice.

Rosmira’s words land with the dull weight of truth. The torn reservation slip trembles once in her fingers, and the waiting hall beyond the open doors remains blank and watchful.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

That explains why you sounded like you were apologizing to the hallway. I get it now.

Jews

Jews

Mm. So we are not trespassing by mistake, we are being processed. Helpful distinction. Less comforting.

Leon steps closer to Rosmira, not crowding her, just enough to share the air. Jews angles nearer too, keeping her voice soft. Neither of them pushes past the threshold, but both are waiting for Rosmira to decide whether this cage has a key.

well lets go and see what my big "sister" wants. if i was stronger then her i just ignore her but then the queen would just force me back at will.

SUCCESS (Good Willpower, rolled +2)

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central

Rosmira doesn’t linger in the hall. She squares her shoulders, gathers the pass and the torn slip, and steps through the open doors with Leon and Jews close behind her.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

If this is the part where we get judged, I’m at least glad we’re doing it together.

Jews

Jews

Mm. Try not to look like prey while we enter the butcher’s office.

The waiting hall swallows their voices. Polished walls reflect them back in thin, pale strips, and the air feels measured, like it has been waiting to count them.

Rosmira

Rosmira

Well, let’s go see what my big sister wants. If I were stronger than her, I would ignore her, but then the Queen would just force me back anyway.

Rosmira reaches the office door first. It opens at her approach, and the formal room beyond is already arranged for visitors, too neat to be casual.

Jews

Jews

So this was prepared. Of course it was prepared.

Leon pauses at Rosmira’s shoulder, then follows her across the threshold. Jews comes in last, her eyes on the room, not the exit.

what ever you do kneel and do not get up til i say so got it

SUCCESS (Good Willpower, rolled +0)

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central

Rosmira eases down to one knee, the torn slip and pass held low as proof of her patience. The room stills around the motion, formal and watchful.

Rosmira

Rosmira

Madam Cleara, these are my mates, Jews and Leon.

Leon lowers himself at once beside her, careful and quiet. Jews takes the cue a beat later, posture tightening as she kneels with controlled reluctance.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

Names are noted. Conduct is what matters here.

Cleara’s gaze passes over them like a seal being checked, unruffled by the word mates and unmoved by the warmth in Rosmira’s tone.

Leon Wolfe

Leon Wolfe

Stay still. Let Rosmira steer this.

Jews

Jews

We’re complying. For now.

The office feels smaller with all three of them lowered and waiting, the torn corner of the reservation slip bright against Rosmira’s hand as Cleara looks past it and into the silence.

I stand and talk eye to eye with cleara while the other two stay kneeled down. So sister why was the pass calling me to return? Did the queen not agree to let me roam free?

SUCCESS (Superb Conversation, rolled +2)

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central

Rosmira rises smoothly to her full height, keeping the pass and torn slip in hand as she faces Cleara directly. Leon and Jews remain kneeling, watching her take the lead.

Rosmira

Rosmira

So, sister, why was the pass calling me back? Did the Queen not agree to let me roam free?

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

She did agree. The agreement was never freedom without terms.

Cleara lifts one finger and the office seals hum softly in response, as if the room itself is listening. Her expression stays composed, but her eyes sharpen on the torn corner of the slip.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

That pass is a summons, Rosmira. If it calls, it brings you to the point where your leave is accounted for.

Jews

Jews

A summons disguised as permission. Lovely.

Leon stays still, but his attention tightens on Rosmira, then on Cleara, reading the exchange like a door slowly closing and reopening at once.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

You are not in trouble. You are being processed, and I need to know whether you intend to comply before I file you as present.

you and your rules i think you need a vacation more then me at this point. I mean sis even i got two mates now and they can rock the bed. Might help get the stick out your butt.

Rosmira

Rosmira

You and your rules, I think you need a vacation more than me at this point. I mean, sis, even I have two mates now, and they can rock the bed. Might help get the stick out your butt.

The words land cleanly in the tight office air. Cleara blinks once, then lets out a short, surprised laugh that does not reach her desk-bound posture.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

Bold. Rude, even. But not entirely wrong.

Her gaze flicks to Leon and Jews, then back to Rosmira, the torn corner of the slip held between two fingers like evidence and an insult at once.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

The trap, as you call it, is paperwork, not a prison. Still, I do enjoy when a guest notices the bars.

Jews

Jews

Oh, that was almost charming. Almost.

Leon huffs a quiet, helpless laugh, then goes still again when Cleara reaches for a stamp and marks the damaged slip with one sharp click.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

Your leave is recorded, your companions are recorded, and your return is recorded. If you want to call this a cage, Rosmira, then at least admit it comes with a key.

and a really cranky warden

SUCCESS (Superb Conversation, rolled +0)

The Pulsing Signal in Neon Central

Cleara rests both hands on the desk, the stamp now idle beside the torn slip. The tightness in the room loosens by a fraction, enough for the three of them to breathe again.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

You can call me a warden if it helps you feel clever. I prefer efficient.

Rosmira

Rosmira

Then I was right, you really do need the vacation more than I do.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

Mm. And yet here you are, still standing in my office with that smile.

Jews

Jews

She does that to people. It is frankly annoying.

Leon shifts beside the others, looking from Cleara to Rosmira with the careful relief of someone hearing the room turn less hostile by the second.

Madam Cleara

Madam Cleara

Your leave is formalized. Your paperwork is correct. If you want to keep your charm intact, take the key and go before I decide to make you explain your jokes in triplicate.
