The Violet Route-Mark

The chamber remains empty except for the trembling ink-dark thread, the sealed bronze drain, and Veyra’s abandoned instruments. Above, Sarthien’s camp stays safely on the surface.

Mara brings the violet fleck into the nearest lens-light. It unfolds across the glass as a thin route-mark, its lines turning away from the quay.

The mark points toward a coastal landmark, not toward the sealed crossing.

The route-mark sharpens into a broken coastline, a black tooth of stone, and three pale strokes suggesting a beacon or watch-post. No summons follows.

Vaelis, Nera, Corven, Elian, Sarthien, and the elderly elf remain behind at the surface camp. Only Mara stands beneath the quay, with the old instruments.

The violet signature threads through the copied signal, then separates cleanly. It records Veyra’s work and its direction, but grants no permission, claim, or passage.

Beyond the chamber, cold air moves through the hidden stair. The route-mark waits in the lens-light, pointing toward the unseen coast while the bronze drain remains sealed.

Reach the coastal beacon landmark

“I follow the route-mark toward the coastal beacon.”

SUCCESS (Legendary Survival, rolled -1)

The Violet Route-Mark

Mara lifts the violet route-mark from the lens-light and follows its turning lines through the hidden stair. The cold passage opens onto a wind-scoured coastal trail.

She crosses salt grass and black reefs by the safest ground, reading tide-scars, bird paths, and old watch-post stones until the route leads unerringly along the cliffs.

The mark guides around the sealed crossing, not through it.

By dusk, Mara reaches the coastal landmark: a black stone tooth rising from the surf, crowned by a weathered beacon tower with three pale signal-strokes carved into its face.

The beacon is dark and abandoned, but violet residue circles its foundation in a deliberate pattern. It matches Veyra’s signature while remaining observational, not coercive.

Mara’s route-mark settles against the tower door, revealing a narrow seam and a visible return sign etched in the stone. The coastal beacon is reached, its entrance identified, and the way back remains open.
