The ogre surges forward again, blind rage giving his club new weight. Kamakulzar still stands in the churned mud, the strike only half-formed, while the reeds whip apart beside the path.

The Companion
Back off, big brute! You are not the only one with steel here!
A new figure bursts clear of the reeds, a lean marsh-man with a cracked hood and a jagged spear. He plants himself near the bend, not quite helping the ogre, not quite fleeing either, just trying to keep the whole mess from swallowing him.

The Marsh Man
Hold, stranger. If you want him, take him clean, not through me.

The Ogre
Hah. Good. Someone else to hit.
The ogre whips his club toward the voice, and the spear lifts to meet it. Mud sprays. Old Tusks mutters from the cairns, low and pleased, as the path turns into a narrow knot of blades and muscle.
The marsh man is not with the ogre.
✓ Quest Accepted
Overwhelm the ogre and marsh man
“I charge and ram bash the ogres face before he can see well”
SUCCESS (Great Strength, rolled -1)
Kamakulzar drives in hard, shoulder low, and slams into the ogre’s blind side before the club can reset.
The impact snaps the ogre’s head sideways. He stumbles in the mud, his swing breaking apart as his own weight carries him off line.

The Ogre
Gah, what now?
The marsh man flinches at the sudden crash, spear twitching toward Kamakulzar, then back toward the ogre as he decides where the real danger sits.

Old Tusks
Press him. The blind beast is yours if you do not let him breathe.
Mud sprays from the ogre’s boots as he reels, one arm pinwheeling, the other still clutching the club too high to guard his face.
Kamakulzar’s cut knuckle flashes red as his forward momentum keeps him inside the ogre’s reach, while the spear tip and club both hover in the same cramped lane of the path.
“I use the staff of amusement to frienzy them”
SUCCESS (Good Fire arcana, rolled +2)

Kamakulzar snaps the red staff across the cramped lane, and a hot pulse of mirth ripples out from it. The ogre’s fury lurches into wild, careless motion at once.
The marsh man’s spear hand jitters, then overcommits, his stance sharpening into an angry blur as if the fight itself has caught in his throat.
The companion jerks upright from the reed edge, suddenly glassy-eyed and bristling, shoulders squared toward the nearest threat with no patience left for caution.

The Ogre
Out of my way!
He roars it at nothing in particular, then barrels half-blind toward the marsh man instead of Kamakulzar, club swinging wide through the mud.

The Marsh Man
No, no, keep back!
The warning comes too late. The marsh man lunges, the companion snaps forward, and the path collapses into a single frenzied knot of bodies and blades.
Kamakulzar’s cut knuckle glints red as he stands at the center of the churn, the nearest two attackers turning on each other under the staff’s strange pressure.
“I frenzy the champion further”
SUCCESS (Good Willpower, rolled -1)

Kamakulzar rolls the red staff through the air again, and the pulse in it sharpens. The frenzy in the lane deepens, not as a tide but as a hook sunk under the skin of the fight.

The Ogre
Not the marsh man. Him.
The ogre’s blind rage snaps inward and locks on the marsh man with brutal certainty. The marsh man barks a curse and staggers into a tighter guard, suddenly forced to answer the charge instead of watching it.
The companion lunges too, all caution burned off, and the three bodies crash together in a spray of mud and reed-chaff. Kamakulzar’s cut knuckle flashes as he keeps the staff moving, and a sting runs up his hand from the motion.

Kamakulzar
The staff is taking hold.
The marsh man’s spear catches the ogre’s club and drives it sideways, while the companion is pulled into the same mess by sheer heat of temper. For a breath, both attackers are fully overwhelmed, fighting the frenzy as much as each other.
Old Tusks watches from the cairns, amused and intent, as the churned lane opens around Kamakulzar. The staff’s glow gutters lower after the surge, leaving the air hot and unstable, and the trio in the mud turn feral enough to need a new decision.
“I body dive, blind side, ram bash with my head the ogre's back of head”
SUCCESS (Great Strength, rolled +0)

Kamakulzar drives low through the mud and hits the ogre from the blind side, his shoulder and horned brow slamming into the back of the brute’s head. The ogre’s charge folds sideways with a grunt, and his club arm whips wide into empty air.
The marsh man jerks back from the sudden opening, spear lifted too late to exploit it. The companion stumbles over the churned lane and loses the clean line into the fight.

The Ogre
Gah. Behind...!
The impact jars the ogre forward into the mire, and his knees punch down hard. For a beat, both attackers are thrown off their rhythm at once, their pressure broken by Kamakulzar’s shove.

Old Tusks
There. Break them.
The hot shimmer over the lane wavers as the trio’s formation collapses. Mud splashes up across Kamakulzar’s knuckles, red staff, and chest, but the way ahead is no longer a chase, it is a crack in the enemy line.
“I draw my bow, pull the string back long and steady for the first shot with it and fire 1 of my metal arrows into the ogre right under the ribs”
SUCCESS (Mediocre Ranged Combat, rolled +0)

Kamakulzar draws his bow in the mud, long and steady, the string biting back against his scarred hands.
The metal arrow slips free and strikes the ogre under the ribs. His body jerks, and the club arm drops slack for an instant.

The Ogre
Ngh, what...?
The marsh man recoils at the opening, spear hovering instead of pressing in, while the companion checks the lane and hesitates at the reed edge.

Old Tusks
That one lands. Press, roamer.
The ogre folds low into the muck, one knee sinking hard, the fight’s centerline broken wide open around Kamakulzar.
Blood beads at Kamakulzar’s knuckle as he holds the bow ready again, and the two attackers are left split, unsteady, and forced to answer his next move.
“I curse the companion amused with the staff (powerfully jadding things into being amused by all)”
SUCCESS (Mediocre Cursing/ritualistic arts, rolled +1)

Kamakulzar lowers the red staff into the mud and traces a quick curse through the steam-warm air. The sigil lands on the companion like a spark in dry reeds.

The Companion
Ha... what is this feeling?
Their hard stare cracks. A snort escapes them, then a sharp, startled laugh as the spell tugs their rage sideways into amusement.

The Marsh Man
What did you do to them?
The companion doubles over, shoulders shaking, spear dipping uselessly as they laugh too hard to hold a line. The ogre thrashes in the mud, still half-blinded and now exposed to both sides.
A sting pricks Kamakulzar’s cut knuckle when he tightens his grip, and a thread of smoke curls from the staff tip. Old Tusks rumbles from the cairns, pleased and watchful.

Old Tusks
There. Their edge is broken. Finish it, or they will crawl back together.
