The ice gives a sharp, listening crack beneath Zhurrem’s pounding weight. Kamakulzar clings tight as the black fur along his back ripples, then peels away in flashes of bronze light.

Zhurrem
I am not only wolf. I am dragon, too.
Bones lengthen into a vast dragon frame, wings unfolding with a thunderous beat. Zhurrem surges upward, lifting Kamakulzar clean off the marsh before the frozen channel can swallow them.

Kamakulzar
The mark is pulling it up from below.
Below, the marsh ruptures. Black sludge and bitter mist explode skyward where they had been a heartbeat ago, reaching and missing as the pair climb beyond its grasp.

Zhurrem
Hold fast. It knows your mark now, and it will follow the trail of power.
High above the frozen reeds, Kamakulzar hangs on while the bronze dragon banks toward darker air, carrying him away from the breach and toward the next chance to break the entity’s hold.
“I get to the best position i can”
SUCCESS (Great Agility, rolled +1)

Kamakulzar shifts his weight along Zhurrem’s spine, finding the dragon’s shoulder ridge where the wind bites less hard. His grip loosens from a desperate clench into a steadier brace.

Kamakulzar
This perch holds better.
Zhurrem banks hard, and the frosted air peels past in sheets. The blackness below trembles, but the surge loses its clean line to them.

Zhurrem
Stay low. Let the storm take the weight, not your arms.
Kamakulzar follows the shift, flattening himself tighter along the bronze frame as they climb. The pull from the marsh stays hungry, but it no longer has an easy hold.
Ahead, the frozen channel falls away beneath the dragon's shadow, and the land opens into a wider dark. Far below, black veins spread through the marsh in a vast, sick pattern.

Zhurrem
Look. This is what hunts us, or what it wakes.
“I cast banish, at the sludge”
SUCCESS (Good Arcana, rolled +1)

Kamakulzar lifts one hand from Zhurrem’s scales and draws a tight sigil in the air. The word of banishment leaves him like a snapped chord, aimed at the black sludge crawling through the frozen marsh below.
The corruption shudders, then tears away in ragged strips, ripped from the ice as if something unseen has seized it by the throat. For a heartbeat, the widening veins below thin and break their grip on the land.
The spell answers, but it bites back. A bitter chill runs up Kamakulzar’s arm, and the air around his hand smokes with frost as the last of the word burns out of him.

Kamakulzar
The sludge is giving way.

Zhurrem
Good. Now look.
Below them, the exposed marsh is worse than the smear had promised. Black veins lace outward in a vast pattern, feeding across the frozen flats like roots under glass, reaching for every hollow in the land.

Zhurrem
That is the wound. And something down there keeps pulling at it.
