The Rose drives a fresh burst of thorns through the bent security door, forcing a jagged opening wide enough to see the records wing beyond. Devlan fires upward, pinning the ceiling turrets as sparks spray across the corridor. The shutter between them and Sally keeps descending.
On the far side, Sally stands by the master terminal, the transfer log still glowing on the screen. The Clerk shrinks back from her, pale and shaking, one hand hovering near the shutoff switch he cannot bring himself to touch.
