Kekona's Story - Deadly Predator in The Village

Kekona enters the sloping passage, leaving the concealed stone door open behind her. Pine-scented air follows from the hollow while colder dampness rises from below.

The passage descends between rough walls scored with faded red markings. Farther down, the symbols glisten wetly, their fresh sheen catching the pale blue light behind her.

Water murmurs beneath the stone, hidden but moving steadily. A faint metallic chime answers from deeper in the passage, repeating whenever the unseen current shifts.

Kekona’s claws brush the wall as she advances, leaving narrow tracks through the damp grit. The passage bends gradually, carrying the water’s voice and cold mineral scent upward.

Behind her, the open doorway remains visible between thorn roots and stone, a pale rectangle leading back to the empty chamber and the wilderness beyond.

Ahead, the metallic chime sounds again, closer now. Beneath it comes a soft rush of water, while the renewed red markings continue down into the dark.

Kekona descends farther, her long legs folding carefully through the narrowing passage. The damp air thickens around her, and the metallic chime grows clearer beneath the steady murmur of water.

Small bronze charms hang above the basin on a rootlike chain. Each shifting current stirs them together, producing the delicate chime that carried up the passage.

Kekona stands within the chamber’s cool shadow, while the open passage behind her leads back toward the hidden hollow. The spring continues its quiet course beneath the blue-tinged darkness.
