Three weeks of silence cling to the Underworld like a shroud. Ares reaches the judgment hall entrance and finds the Gate-Captain chained upright in celestial bronze, pale and shaking under the cold lamps.

The Gate-Captain
He came back. Sisyphus came back with the Titans. They took Hades.

The Gate-Captain
The throne room is theirs. They mean to seal the lord below and strike Olympus next.
The captain jerks his bound hands toward the dark beyond the hall, as if the walls themselves might answer. The silence around him feels broken only by the faint grind of distant stone.

Thanatos
Ares, the order is already tearing. If Hades is captive, death itself will be chained with him.
Thanatos steps in beside Ares, weariness sharpened into alarm. The cold lamps throw hard shadows across his face as he looks from the captain to the sealed passage ahead.

Thanatos
We go now. If they fortify the throne room, we may never reach him in time.

Ares
I go to Hades.
The hall seems to tighten around that vow. Somewhere deeper in the Underworld, bronze chains scrape, and the way forward opens on a war already begun.

“I free the gate captain and ask him to lead the way.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +0)

Ares closes the distance in a few hard strides. The celestial bronze gives under his grip with a shriek, and the Gate-Captain drops to his feet, stumbling free.

The Gate-Captain
The corridor, then the throne room. I will show you the way.
Thanatos watches the captain rub raw wrists, his expression tightening as the old fear returns in his eyes.

Thanatos
If Hades has fallen, every sealed door in this realm has become a wound.
The captain turns toward the dark passage and starts forward at a limp, half-running pace. Cold air drifts out ahead of him, carrying the faint scrape of bronze and a distant violet pulse.
Ares follows, and the judgment hall gives way to a narrower corridor, its stone sweating shadow. Far ahead, the Underworld feels less like a kingdom and more like a locked fist.
“I follow the Gate-Captain to the throne room”
SUCCESS (Great Agility, rolled -3)

Ares keeps pace behind the limping captain as the corridor narrows, cold stone pressing close on both sides. The violet pulse ahead thickens, and every footfall rings too loudly in the dark.

The Gate-Captain
Do not trust the first sight you get. They have turned the throne room into a snare.
The captain veers at a sharp bend and shoves aside a hanging curtain of blackened hide. Frost breath spills out in a white sheet, and the air tastes of old iron.

Thanatos
That chill is not natural. It is meant to keep something still.
Ares reaches the turn in time to see the corridor open onto the throne-room threshold. Broken bronze lies scattered across the floor, and a violet seam of light crawls under the doors like a living vein.

Ares
The doors are already under strain.
The Gate-Captain stops short beside the frame, pale and shaking, then points toward the crack in the doors. Beyond it, shapes move in the glow, and the throne room answers with a low, crowded murmur.

The Gate-Captain
Hades is inside. Sisyphus too. And more than one Titan.
