The young Greek god of war. His aggressive, often violent demeanor and reputation as a mindless brute makes him not particularly well-liked among mortals (except in Thrace and Sparta) or even among most of Mount Olympus. Ares' father Zeus, King of Mount Olympus, has little to no patience for Ares, especially whenever innocent casualties are involved. In one particularly traumatic childhood incident, Ares was kidnapped as a child by the Aloadae giants and locked in a bronze jar for an entire year; he was eventually rescued by Hermes and Artemis, but has suffered from severe claustrophobia ever since. Ares' uncle Hades, King of the Underworld (and Zeus' brother), has taken it upon himself to be the steady, caring father figure that Ares needs. The other inhabitants of the underworld have likewise become like a second family to Ares, including Ares' mentor Thanatos, the god of death and Hades' top lieutenant. But then one day, the dangerously clever mortal king Sisyphus is condemned to Tartarus, and kidnaps Thanatos in a desperate attempt to avoid that fate. As a result, no mortals on Earth can die anymore, severely disrupting the natural order in both the mortal realm and the Underworld. Hades is forced to stay in the Underworld to keep the realm stable and prevent the imprisoned evils in Tartarus from escaping, so Ares immediately volunteers to rescue Thanatos on his uncle's behalf. Now Ares, the young outcast god of war, must face mortals, gods, and Titans alike to save the family that took him in when no one else would.

Ares must rescue his mentor Thanatos from King Sisyphus to save the family and kingdom that took him in when no one else would.

NEMESIS

Sisyphus, the mortal king who kidnapped his mentor Thanatos and plunged his uncle Hades' kingdom into chaos in the process.
