Marla’s voice crackles over the speakerphone, sharp with urgency. She says she found another address, and it is another storage unit.
Thadeus Jovanović
Another storage unit. The invoice trail keeps pointing through storage instead of a person.
Thadeus swings Elias’s truck through wet downtown streets. Elizabeth rides beside him, watching the blocks blur past under neon and rain.
Marla Brewer
I matched the paperwork again, this place sits on the same chain. If Elias is connected, this is part of it.
They reach a gated storage facility with a forced entry already visible at the front. A black sedan idles near the entrance, lights off, engine running.
Elizabeth Bathory
That car is waiting for something. Maybe the same thing we are.

“Thadeus and Elizabeth wait in the truck, waiting to see if the black sedan moves, or its occupants get out. After about 10 minutes, they watch as the sedan pulls out through the front gate. Thadeus observes the all too familiar Mark of SoD, the broken star, on the back of the sedan, as it passes them and gets on the main road. Cautiously, Thadeus pulls past the front gate and into the storage facility.”
SUCCESS (Great Perception, rolled -2)
The truck goes still in the rain, engine ticking soft. Thadeus and Elizabeth wait out the lot, watching the black sedan sit crooked at the gate.
Minutes drag by. The sedan finally rolls forward, headlights dark, and slips through the front gate without stopping.
As it passes, Thadeus catches the broken-star mark on the back glass, a familiar stamp in the wet reflection.
Thadeus Jovanović
That mark again.
Thadeus eases the truck past the gate and into the storage lot, tires hissing over soaked pavement.
Elizabeth Bathory
They left fast. Someone wants this place quiet.
“Thadeus hops out of the vehicle. "Stay here, Elizabeth. Keep the car running, and let me know if that sedan comes back." Elizabeth nods in agreement, "Don't be gone long," Elizabeth says. Thadeus winks at Elizabeth and runs down the corridor of storage units.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +0)
Thadeus drops out into the wet aisle and breaks into a sprint, shoes striking puddles between the storage rows. Behind him, the truck idles with its lights low, and Elizabeth stays at the wheel, watching the gate instead of following.
Thadeus Jovanović
Stay here, Elizabeth. Keep the car running, and let me know if that sedan comes back.
Elizabeth Bathory
Don’t be gone long.
He flashes her a quick wink, then cuts deeper into the corridor, shoulders low and speed clean. The metal doors blur past him, each lock and number plate slick with rainwater.
Halfway down the row, a unit stands already cracked open, a pale line of light leaking onto the concrete.
Thadeus reaches the opening in one smooth rush and slips inside the unit without slowing, the trail of wet footprints leading straight toward the glow.
Inside, stacked bins and boxes crowd the narrow space, and the second unit’s contents are exposed in a tight, uneasy spill of evidence. Somewhere outside, the car remains running, and the gate still feels watched.
“Thadeus starts checking various boxes, filled mostly with junk. "Sorry, Elias," Thadeus thinks to himself, "I'm sure these things are important to you." As he grabs another box, he hears a lot of sloshing coming from it. Curious, he opens the box to find a dozen ornate glass jars filled with a deep blue liquid that appears to be water. Each of the jars has an ornate glass lid with a small cross at the top of each. Thadeus also finds a note tucked into the box, with a short note, "In case of emergency, holy water will protect you, signed, Trevor" Thadeus thinks these must be second artifact. Thadeus carries the box of holy water out of the storage unit and back to the truck.”
SUCCESS (Superb Strength, rolled -1)
Thadeus works through the nearest boxes, peeling back damp packing tape and shifting junk aside. Most of it is ordinary clutter, until one carton answers with a heavy slosh.
Thadeus Jovanović
Sorry, Elias. I’m sure these things matter to you.
He opens the box and finds a dozen ornate glass jars, each filled with deep blue liquid and capped with little crosses. A folded note lies tucked between the jars.
The handwriting is short and neat, a simple warning from Trevor, saying the holy water is for emergencies. Thadeus takes that in fast, then grips the box with both hands.
Thadeus Jovanović
These must be the second artifact.
He carries the box out through the open unit and back toward the truck, rain shining on the concrete and on the wet track of his boots.
Elizabeth Bathory
You found something?
Elizabeth’s voice comes from the idling cab, sharp with concern, as the dark lot and the crooked sedan at the gate keep the pressure on.
