The warehouse district stretches ahead in broken rows of steel and dark windows. Thadeus, Elizabeth, Marla, and Victor roll to a stop short of the loading bays while diesel haze hangs low over wet concrete.

Victor Hale
That one. The bay with the broken-star ring. They are staging the final shipment there.
Victor points with a shaking hand toward a rusted door marked in spray paint. Beyond it, armed guards drift between pallets and a truck sits idling somewhere deeper inside the complex.

Thadeus Jovanović
The route is here, and sunrise is the deadline.

Marla Brewer
I can see two guards at the corner, maybe more inside. If we move, we need the cleanest angle we get.

Elizabeth Bathory
Then we take the cleanest angle and keep the rest of them guessing.
Behind them, far back at The Hideout, Elias is still inside mending the torn bunker entrance, keeping the home front from falling apart while this push goes forward.
The bay door, the guards, and the waiting truck line everything up for one decision. If the shipment moves, Stars of Divinity stays hidden. If Thadeus acts now, the network shows its hand.

“Thadeus directs Marla to stay in the car, and check for any cameras around the facility. Thadeus direct Victor to head inside, adding "The SoD should still trust you, find out when this shipment arrives, and we'll wait out here to strike."”
SUCCESS (Legendary Diplomacy, rolled +0)

Thadeus keeps his voice low and precise, sending Marla back into the car with her phone up and her eyes on the building’s edges. Victor turns toward the warehouse, pale but willing, while Elizabeth stays at Thadeus’s side and watches both of them.

Thadeus Jovanović
Stay in the car and check for cameras around the place.

Thadeus Jovanović
Victor, go inside. The Stars of Divinity should still trust you, find out when this shipment arrives, and we wait out here to strike.

Marla Brewer
Got it. I’m on cameras, blind spots, and anything that looks like a watcher.

Victor Hale
Understood. If they let me past the first room, I’ll get the timing and come back with it.
Marla slips into the car and starts scanning the perimeter on her screen. Victor heads for the marked bay on shaky legs, then forces himself steady as the shadows between the pallets swallow him.
Elizabeth angles her body toward Thadeus, ready to move on his signal. The loading bay stays quiet for one more breath, with the broken-star door waiting and the truck idling somewhere deeper inside.
“Thadeus leans up against the car, arms crossed, casually looking around the parking lot. Elizabeth kneels against the car, relaxed, waiting for Thadeus to react. Thadeus sees Victor speaks with someone in front the receiving bay door. After a brief moment, Victor is whisked away inside the building.”
SUCCESS (Great Perception, rolled -1)

Thadeus settles against the car and lets the lot breathe around him, scanning the rows of wet asphalt and stacked pallets. The bay stays half-lit, all shadow and sodium glow, while Marla’s phone paints her face blue inside the car.
Victor reaches the receiving bay and stops under the broken-star marking, where a man in a dark jacket waits in the doorway. Their exchange is brief, close, and low, then the stranger hooks Victor by the arm and turns him inside.

Thadeus Jovanović
The handoff is too quick for a normal check-in.
Elizabeth shifts lower beside the car, keeping her eyes on the bay instead of the lot. Marla’s head snaps up from her screen, tracking the doorway as the line of sight changes.
The bay door opens wider for a second, revealing movement deeper in the building, then closes enough to hide Victor from the curb. The truck’s engine keeps idling somewhere beyond the wall.
Now the front of the operation is inside, and Thadeus has only the doorway, the watcher by the bay, and the question of whether the man who took Victor is part of the shipment or part of the trap.
“Marla checks her watch, and calls out to Thadeus, "It's been about 15 minutes since Victor went inside, and he hasn't called me yet. Something isn't right." Thadeus turns to Marla, "Okay, Elizabeth and I will head inside and try to find Victor. Keep an eye out here and let us know if Victor contacts you first." Marla gives a thumbs up in response. "Thadeus, there's a service door on the other side of the building that you can use. None of SoD's personnel are watching that door." Thadeus smiles, then leads Elizabeth towards the service door.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +1)

Marla glances at her watch and lifts her chin from the phone, calling the delay out across the car roof. Victor has been inside too long, and the warehouse air feels suddenly thinner for it.

Thadeus Jovanović
Okay. Elizabeth and I go in and look for him. Stay here, watch the lot, and tell us if Victor contacts you first.

Marla Brewer
Got it.

Marla Brewer
There is a service door on the far side. Nobody from Stars of Divinity is watching it.
Thadeus gives her a quick smile, then he and Elizabeth cut around the building, keeping low along the shadowed wall instead of crossing the open bay.
The service door comes into view, plain and unguarded, its handle dark against the concrete. Dawn is still not quite here, but the surprise is.
“Thadeus tries the door, and is pleasantly surprised when the handle turns free. Thadeus and Elizabeth quickly pass in the door. To avoid an ambush, Thadeus locks the door from the inside. The hallway that are inside is dimly lit, with faux wood walls and green carpet that looks aged and stained. They see several wooden doors with the broken star logo, but all of them are locked. With no one down this hallway, they quietly walk forward.”

Thadeus tests the handle, and it gives. He and Elizabeth slip inside, then he quietly turns the lock behind them.
The hallway is dim and stale, with faux wood walls, worn green carpet, and a line of locked doors stamped with the broken-star logo. No voices answer their footsteps, so they move on.
“Further down the hallway, Thadeus finds one of broken-star doors slightly ajar. Peeking inside, he finds an empty office room. He and Elizabeth sneak inside and lock the door. Elizabeth observes the room while Thadeus texts Marla for an update. Marla messages back, "Victor finally responded. The shipment should be arriving in 15 minutes. Big boss is inside the building." Elizabeth looks at the message, "What does she mean by 'Big Boss'?" Thadeus looks to Elizabeth, "It must mean Donny Ramirez. Guess we'll sit tight here for a moment and find out."”
SUCCESS (Great Perception, rolled +3)
Further down the hall, Thadeus spots a broken-star door left a finger-width open. He eases it wider, checks the dark office inside, and finds it empty, no one at the desk, no one by the blinds.
He and Elizabeth slip in together. Thadeus shuts the door, turns the lock, and the click lands soft in the stale room.
Elizabeth sweeps the office with a slow look, noting the scuffed chair, the dead monitor, and a delivery sheet half-tucked under a folder. Thadeus texts Marla from the corner by the file cabinet.

Marla Brewer
Victor finally responded. The shipment should be arriving in 15 minutes. Big boss is inside the building.
Elizabeth leans in to read the screen, then looks up at Thadeus, brows tightening. The room feels smaller all at once.

Thadeus Jovanović
It must mean Donny Ramirez. We sit tight here for a moment and find out.
“As Thadeus finishes reading Marla's last message, the office door turns. He hears a voice on the other side, "I thought I left this door open. Johnson, you got your key?" Another voice acknowledges the first. Thadeus turns to Elizabeth,"We need to hide behind the door, over there," pointing to a bookshelf filled with office supplies. Thadeus and Elizabeth duck behind the bookshelf, Elizabeth pinned up against Thadeus, just when the door unlocks. Thadeus watches as two men in pleated khakis, and blue and white striped button-up shirts walk in and turn on the lights in the room. He whispers to Elizabeth, "Don't make a sound."”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled -1)

Thadeus lowers his phone, and the office door knob stirs. A man's voice drifts through the crack, casual and annoyed, asking why the door was left open.
Thadeus shifts Elizabeth toward the bookshelf, and they press into the narrow space behind it, shoulder to shoulder and out of sight. The lock clicks as the handle gives.
Two men enter in pleated khakis and striped shirts, moving with workday confidence. One reaches for the switch, and the office blooms in harsh light.

Thadeus Jovanović
They have the room now.
Thadeus stays frozen behind the shelf, breathing shallow. Elizabeth is pinned close against him, both of them hidden by binders, paper stacks, and a row of office supplies.
The men scan the desk, talk about the shipment timing, and do not look behind them. One of them drops a folder onto the desktop, stamped with the broken-star ring.

Thadeus Jovanović
Don't make a sound.

“Just as quickly as they enter, the two men leave and shut off the light, completely unaware of Thadeus's intrusion. Elizabeth walks over to the desk and picks up the folder. She views its contents, and updates Thadeus. "I don't understand, Thadeus. This is the invoice for the upcoming shipment, but take a look at it." Thadeus reads through the papers, and to his horror, he keeps finding the same initials, EB. "Elizabeth, these are your initials. What the hell is going on?" Elizabeth, almost pleading, responds, "Wait, you don't think I have anything to do with this, do you?" Thadeud feels light-headed, and collapses to the floor.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Reasoning, rolled -1)

The two men peel out of the office as quickly as they came, and the light snaps off with them. Their footsteps fade down the hall, unaware of the pair hiding inches away.
Elizabeth slips from behind the bookshelf to the desk, snatches the dropped folder, and flips it open under the dead monitor's glow from the hallway spill.

Elizabeth Bathory
I don't understand, Thadeus. This is the invoice for the upcoming shipment, but look at it.
Thadeus takes the papers from her, scanning line after line. The same initials keep surfacing in the margins, clean and repeated, EB, over and over.

Thadeus Jovanović
EB.

Elizabeth Bathory
Wait, you don't think I have anything to do with this, do you?
The room tilts around Thadeus. The folder slips in his hands, and he drops hard to the floor beside the desk while Elizabeth stands over him, caught between shock and hurt.

Confront Elizabeth about the invoice
“Thadeus starts to hear a voice in the back of his mind, "You have doubt, you can't control the power." Thadeus shakes his head, as if trying to get the voice out. Elizabeth kneels beside him, "Hey, what's wrong? What happened?" Thadeus sits in silence, his eyes empty, as if staring off into the distant void. Elizabeth pulls on his hand, again asking if he is alright, fear starting to show on her face. Her voice fades away in the distance, as Thadeus becomes lost further in his trance.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -3)

Thadeus Jovanović
The voice hits him like a whisper through concrete, but Thadeus forces it loose with a shake of his head. The pressure breaks, and his breath comes back in a rough drag.
He stays where he is on the floor, but the trance slips off him. The invoice pages flutter against his palm, and the wrongness in the room is still his to read.

Elizabeth Bathory
Hey. What's wrong? What happened?
Elizabeth drops to one knee beside him, her hand finding his wrist. Her fingers tighten when she feels him come back to himself.

Elizabeth Bathory
Thadeus, look at me. Are you all right?
He does not answer right away. His stare goes empty for a beat, then clears, and the silence itself tells her he is fighting something invisible.
Elizabeth keeps hold of his hand, afraid now, but not pulling away. The invoice lies open between them, the repeated EB still visible in the spill of hallway light.
