The fire has burned low beside the Moonlit Spring. Seren remains with Almira and the altered vellum, while the scarred soldier and Lenn stay far behind at their woodland post.

The Book Of Arcana lies open between Almira and Seren, its black page veined with silver roots. Dawn pales the eastern sky, but the tiny sealed eye remains dark.

Before we leave, we need an agreement. What may remain private between us, and what must be shared the moment either of us discovers it?

Seren folds his hands beside the book without touching it. His voice is calm, yet the memory of the vanished stair keeps a careful distance between his fingers and the page.

I will not demand every thought or memory. Those belong to you. But anything that can alter the road, endanger us, or answer this book cannot belong to one traveler alone.

If I press too hard, I may lose the companion I chose. If I ask too little, I may follow another secret into the dark.

Tell me where your boundary lies, Almira. I can accept mystery. I cannot accept being the last person to learn that it has opened beneath our feet.

“I speak seductively so each word lingers, I share with him all I know using the same seductive tones as master long ago, as though I were not speaking but repeating his ancient words. Though my knowledge is little, my masters seductive technique and mine are unforgettable no word left unremembered. Afterwards I promise to share every secret as I learn it, he'll always know what I know.”

Almira lets each word linger, shaping their voice into the intimate cadence once taught to them. Dawn light gathers on the Book Of Arcana while Seren listens without interruption.

Creation Arcana joins every part of becoming: the first grain, the living world, the healing of wounds, and the light by which life finds a gentler future.

Their knowledge is narrow beside the world's vastness, yet the delivery makes each fragment feel ancient and complete. Seren's guarded expression softens as he follows every deliberate pause.

There is darkness within the same thread, and mastery demands we understand it without becoming its wound. That is what I know, and I will give it freely.

The promise settles between them with the warmth of a vow. Seren reaches across the vellum, not touching the book, but placing his hand openly beside Almira's.

Every secret I learn, you will learn as well. Nothing that alters our road or threatens us will remain mine alone. You will always know what I know.

Then I accept your boundary, Almira. I will trust what you keep within yourself, and trust that every secret touching our path will be shared between us.

“I set out with Seren for the ruined observatory carefully watching for any sign of Creation, or reaction from he book of Arcana”

SUCCESS (Great Perception, rolled -1)

Almira and Seren leave the spring beneath a paling sky, following the old northern road toward the ruined observatory. Almira keeps the Book Of Arcana close, watching its black page and the land alike.

The road is quiet, but quiet does not mean empty. Tell me if the book changes, even slightly.

By midday, Almira notices pale shoots growing through frost beside the road, each leaf veined with faint silver. The Book Of Arcana warms against their hand, and its roots turn toward the observatory.

The growth follows the book's direction, but it is not yet clear whether Creation answers the book or the land.

Almira and Seren follow the silver-veined shoots through a ravine. The detour costs them several hours, and dusk gathers before the observatory's broken towers finally rise beyond the pines.

There. You found the sign I would have walked past. Whatever lies below that ruin, it has noticed the book.

The Book Of Arcana opens by itself to the black page. A silver root curls into the shape of a living branch, pointing beneath the observatory, while the sealed eye remains shut.
