The chamber answers with a deeper hum than before, a steady note that settles into the bones of everyone present. The accepted survivors stare at Hhannvis as if the vault itself has named him judge.
The Wounded Survivor and the others begin to drift forward in slow, awed steps, drawn by the light on the dais. Their fear is still there, but it is buried under wonder.
Above, the stone shudders. A hard, rhythmic thudding grows louder, then a blind Utahraptor bursts into the basin, green and orange hide flashing as it glides low and crashes down among the pebbles.
It lands with claws gouging black stone, head snapping toward the scent of bodies. The refugees freeze in place, still half-caught in reverence, half-caught in terror.

The Wounded Survivor
That light... it is real. It is not like the old tricks.

Zarona Vos Zhurshitt
Hhannvis, the chamber is holding them, but it will not hold the beast for long.
The dais keeps humming, stronger now, while the predator lowers its head and tests the air. Hhannvis stands between the chamber's judgment and the blind killer that can turn it into a slaughter.

“I back up, arms low, none threatening”
SUCCESS (Great Agility, rolled -1)

Hhannvis gives ground in a slow, open step, spear lowered and shoulders loose. The raptor’s head tilts, testing the air, while the survivors see the motion and stop inching toward the beast.

Hhannvis
The beast tracks movement, not words.
The chamber’s runes flare under Hhannvis’s feet as he shifts back off the dais. The glow holds, but a sharp frost-bite crawls up his calves from the blessing.

Zarona Vos Zhurshitt
Good. Keep the line, Hhannvis. Do not let it learn the shape of the room.
The Utahraptor takes one scraping step after him, then snaps its blind snout toward the warm cluster of refugees. Sefru tightens at the threshold, and Huryol spreads himself wider to block the aisle.

The Wounded Survivor
He is moving it away from us... look, he is moving it away.
Hhannvis reaches the chamber’s left edge with his hands still low, and the beast does not charge. But the shift carries a cost, a bright crack of ice-light splits across the dais, and a few pebbles skitter under his heel, clicking loud in the hush.
