Bloodline Debt and the Resonant Hunt

The trees close in, and the road narrows to mud and roots. Harrow stops short beside a blackened stump, listening. In Elowen’s grip, the iron-bound satchel shudders harder, as if something inside has found a heartbeat to match.

Elowen tightens both hands on the satchel. The cracked seal gives a dry tick, and a thin line of pale light leaks through the split.

A deeper pulse rolls through the satchel, and the mud at Neko’s boots trembles. Far off in the trees, something answers with a wet, clicking scrape.

The forest goes still around them, as if waiting for Neko to choose whether the waking key stays shut or starts the hunt.

Neko kneels in the mud, his alchemy kit open and ready. The reagents react instantly to the relic's aura, binding the leaking light with a thick, hardening resin that seals the crack shut.

Neko leaves Town edge road behind and arrives at the Baron's making place.

Mud gives way to packed earth and splintered planks, a hidden yard breathing resin, blood, and wet timber. The making place lies open before them, and Harrow stands under the black trees like he belongs to the ruin.

Harrow steps aside and points with two fingers toward a churned track half-hidden in reeds. Beyond it, a slit of masonry breaks the slope, ringed with fresh scratches and shell dust.

Neko moves first, and the others match him. As they close on the culvert, a low scrape answers from the treeline, and several booted figures shift in the dark.
