Bloodline Debt and the Resonant Hunt

The wall peels open. Pale limbs uncoil in a wet, jointed rush, and the shell plates begin to click like teeth. The only exit vanishes behind its body.

Neko meets the lunge with steel, holding his ground in the narrow chamber. The first strike checks the creature’s charge, but it keeps coming, low and fast, dragging mud and shell dust across the floor.

Behind the monster, the mud seam splits wider. A stink of resin and old blood breathes out of the hidden chamber, the same tainted trace Neko found on his gear. The burrow is not a nest, it is a workshop.

The Shell-Tainted Boar whimpers near the tunnel mouth, refusing to cross the threshold. It is not the source, only another frightened victim, driven by whatever is breeding these things below.

The creature reels, then surges again, trying to drive Neko back from the seam. If he breaks it here, the trail into the Baron’s hidden work opens at last.

Neko squares his sword, trapped between the lunging horror and the revealed passage, with the truth of the taint now within reach.

Neko drives the greatsword through the creature’s advance with brutal force, and the pale body jerks sideways in the cramped chamber.

Shell plates skid off the mud floor. The creature’s limbs claw for purchase, but the impact has broken its rush and shoved it back from the seam.

The hidden chamber beyond it gapes open under wet torchlight, lined with resin stains and fresh gouges, proof of repeated work below the rise.

Neko’s blade stays planted between himself and the pale thing as it recoils, its body no longer blocking the whole passage.

For a breath, the chamber holds. Then the wall behind the creature gives a soft, ugly creak, as if more weight rests deeper in the dark.

Neko surges into the opening and brings the greatsword down through the pale creature’s neck and shoulders. The strike lands clean, and the body slackens into the mud.

Shell plates split and slide apart as the thing collapses. Resin-dark fluid soaks the floor, and the open seam behind it is finally clear.

The rear wall answers with a deeper groan. Fresh dust sifts from the ceiling, then a heavy section of mud caves inward with a wet crack.

The Shell-Tainted Boar recoils at the noise, then bolts for the tunnel mouth, scrambling over loose clods in blind panic.

Beyond the fallen creature, Neko catches the shape of a worked nook, resin-streaked tools half-buried in grime, and a thick trace of that same fibrous residue along the wall.

A final tremor runs through the burrow. Dust hisses down through the torchlight, and the exposed inner room waits at Neko’s feet with the exit shuddering behind him.
