Voyage of the Star Streak

Maisie leads Kael through a narrow passage into the newly opened chartroom. The air is cool and silver-bright, carrying the scent of old stone and rain. Suspended markings drift soundlessly around the walls.

At the chamber's center, the recovered chart rises above a circular table. Its parchment unfolds without hands, shedding pale motes that spiral toward Kael's black armor and star-patterned sword.

One by one, the chart's constellations settle into the same shapes scattered across his armor. The sword answers with a low, resonant hum, and matching stars flare across the chamber.

Beneath the familiar constellations, an unfamiliar cluster emerges, dim at first, then brightening like a hidden door beneath deep water. The silver markings turn toward it. Maisie leans over the table, studying the new pattern.

Therefore, the silver markings fold inward around the hidden cluster. A bright sigil fixes its position, and a second line of light stretches from the chart toward the helm.

The chamber answers with a deep, measured pulse. Far above, the cannons' rhythmic glow changes to match it, while the living chart begins turning toward the chosen stars.

Then the alignment tightens. The cluster does not merely mirror the armor's constellations. It rises from the same hidden pattern, as though Kael's star-marked blade is the key that made the destination visible.

The hidden pattern answers Kael's intent. Four silver threads slip from the chart and travel through the Star Streak's living timbers toward the sleeping quarters.

In their separate beds, Sophie, Maisie, Emma, and Miles enter the same enchanted dream. Each sees Kael beside her, and each feels the captain's presence as intimate, trusted, and deeply personal. The dream fades to black before anything more can be shown.

The shared dream settles into them, complete. Sophie sleeps with one hand curled around the edge of her blanket, Emma's breathing eases, Miles smiles faintly, and Maisie's guarded expression softens in the dream's lingering warmth.

But the working takes its price. The chart draws a thin thread of light from Kael's armor, leaving his limbs heavy and the stars along his blade briefly dim.
